The only thing that keeps me here is the park nearby. Otherwise, I'd leave. They raise the rent as if this is a luxury complex. It isn't. If you value your safety, don't rent here. They allow dogs but specifically state pit bulls aren't allowed in the lease. There's a resident who ALWAYS walks his pit bull off-leash. I was outside alone one night and the dog growled and lunged toward me. The owner had to restrain the dog by holding its tail. Other residents have complained. The issue was escalated to the Dwoskin corporate office and the Sheriff. Dwoskin refuses to take action against the resident. I guess they are hard up for finding people to rent here. Don't let the BS happy talk from the office fool you. read more

This place is disgusting, maintenance is incompetent, and the rental company doesn't care as long as they get paid. I did not have a functioning bathroom for a week. The maintenance man did half the job and then left "for lunch" which meant for a four day weekend. I had to resubmit my maintenance request every day that week. Eventually though, I did have a functioning bathroom. I had difficulty using their app to pay my rent at one point, because the rental office listed one of my children as the primary resident. The rental office also contacted USPS and had me removed as a resident 3 days before Christmas. Nobody was in the office until after Christmas to address this. They are doing some type of work on the apartment above mine at the moment, which means that while I'm at work my apartment floods. One time, it sprayed a mystery white liquid all over my bathroom. I only had to send requests in daily for them to clean that up. They send over maintenance people sometimes to partially fix the flooding, by cleaning the flood using my towels and then tossing them in the bathtub. Just now, I've discovered that the clothes in my closet are wet. From the bathroom above me. read more

If you're considering moving to Stuart wood apartment think twice. The management here is incredibly rude and unhelpful. They don't seem to care about the residents or the issues we face. The apartment conditions are awful--it's extremely noisy, and there are constant problems with bugs, roaches and slugs. When I first move in the carpet and flooring was in extreme dirty condition and hvac has very strong smell. I've had slugs in my kitchen multiple times, which is absolutely disgusting. Despite reporting this issue several times, the management refuses to believe it and hasn't done anything meaningful to resolve it. Living here has been a terrible experience, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. UPDATES: Stuart Woods has left a Google reply(without replying my emails) stating that I have already moved out, but I have only evacuated because I can no longer live in such conditions. I am still paying rent and submitted an early termination request on July 28th. This process is extremely complicated and lengthy, and I have yet to receive any updates from them via email. I don't even know when the 60-day period for early termination begins. The management is highly inefficient, with almost zero communication. Due to multiple incidents of slugs, including one found on my food, I requested an early termination without penalty because the leasing office has failed to provide a habitable environment multiple times. However, they refuse to communicate with me and have demanded that I can only communicate through my lawyer. All my requests need to be approved by AJ Dwoskin & Associates based on Kalisa- the manager in Stuart Wood apartment . Another thing is that I have an emotional support dog and my therapist recommendated me to have one more emotional support dog. I have the therapist's note. My therapist is willing to call and email the leasing office to verify my mental health, but the leasing office believes my ESA note is fraudulent, which is discriminatory towards me. I've been seeing my therapist for two years. Later, I repeatedly communicated with Kalisa and my therapist to attempt verification, but Kalisa responded that since it was already considered fraudulent, any information provided by my therapist would be useless. PLEASE CAREFULLY READ 1 STAR REVIEWS!!! These 1-star reviews reflect real situations and ask yourself if you can live in such an environment and deal with such an unsupportive leasing office. read more

In my time living in the DMV, I lived in four different apartments. Each of them had differing experiences, ranging from pretty good to pretty bad. This apartment was probably the worst of the four that I had stayed in. I do not think there is any close second. I stayed at Stuart Woods from April 2019 until November 2020, 19 months of an experience I would like to forget. Before I lay into the negatives, I will point out the positives, most of which are lumped into the same category, convenience. -The location is good. Not great, just good. Close by Reston Town Center, the Silver Line, the Toll Road, and Dulles Airport. -Washer/Dryer in unit. -Big apartments with walk in closets. -Walking distance from several restaurants and supermarkets. -Affordable yearly rent increases. -Free parking (or you can pay for your own spot). -Pretty grounds for recreational purposes. After that, there was not much I liked. Shortly after my lease began, things fell apart rather quickly. Without warning, the complex put up a security light right above my unit, making it hard to sleep. When I called the complex, they offered to compromise by installing blackout blinds for me if I purchased them (which they did). That was only a warmup of what was to come. That summer, I found my unit INFESTED with cockroaches. Some weeks I would find 10! I know that once you have them you never really get rid of them; this problem never really resolved itself. Even after I got an exterminator to treat the apartment, every now and again I would see a few, dead or alive. It was so annoying. On top of the roaches, I also had mice! One weekend I found 3 in my unit. One was dead, another was caught in a glue trap, but alive, and I found another one alive scampering by in my bedroom! I caught it in a glue trap one night, but that is unacceptable. Later on, I would hear scratching in the walls as they would try to enter into the unit, but I got maintenance to set up traps and seal the hole that I found. I never saw any more mice, but I figured they found a way in and it was only because of my actions that I prevented it from getting out of hand. I also had terribly loud and dirty neighbors. Screaming kids, and the smell of their meals would seep through my floors. They would also leave raw food out on their doorsteps, allowing the roaches and other rodents to enter. They also had little regard for public safety. Often times, I would see the front door to my building WIDE OPEN overnight. That is just asking for a robbery, or worse, to happen. Overall, I found my unit pretty shabby. As nice as maintenance was with addressing my concerns (I also had a shower diverter that took over a month to get fixed), the shabbiness of the units outweigh the pretty complex. That is a shame. I would look elsewhere if you need an apartment in the Northern Virginia area. read more

If you gave them security deposit, they will not return back your money!! I returned back my apartment super clean, but they charged me for the stuff that wasn't belong to me! I have a lot of pictures for my evidence to show how my apartment was cleaned when I turned back the key. They have some staff who are in front desk and doesn't have any idea about anything! Anything that I asked she said I DON'T KNOW! I asked for manager. MANAGER IS NOT AVAILABLE AND MANAGER DOESN'T RESPOND TO THE EMAIL either! It looks like no one is feeling to have any responsibility over there! read more

I would not recommend moving here. Christopher Druckers appears to be nice but he showed me an apartment that I thought was suitable enough and after I applied he told me it's not exactly what I was getting then he showed me pictures of the actual apartment which I did not like. I was expecting a new washer and dryer with more countertop space. The apartment I applied for had an old washer and dryer and less space. He told me I could put things on the washer and dryer. Secondly, I completed my application and paid my fees. Almost two months after not being approved they still didn't return my deposit. I followed up and was told to wait. Not being approved was a blessing in disguise. The apartments are old, awkward and mediocre. I found a much better community to move into. read more

Nice surroundings, prompt maintenance work, friendly staff. Carpets were dirty when I moved in but I was so anxious to move I let it go. Major problem......the dumpster doors are rarely closed, allowing overflow of trash to fly out. I actually printed signs to post on the dumpsters that read "please close the dumpster doors" and someone yanked them off 2 days later. The picnic grounds rarely are cleaned after large families cook out there. The problem with the roaches outlined by the other Yelper must stem from these filthy conditions. A wonderful park side location, with a creek (Sugarland Run) cutting through the property, but the creek has trash in it that is never removed. I realize this is not the fault of the complex, but some coordination with the Fairfax County or Herndon Park Association to clean up the creek would be appreciated. There are very few park side locations in Reston/Herndon (I had a major problem with Colvin Woods, so I will never rent from them). The grounds have gotten better over the last 2 years but for the price (extremely high raise in rent this past year), it could be better. read more

This place isn't that great. I lived there for a few years. I rented a 1 bedroom apartment. The only highlight of the Aparment was the closet is rather large. Other than that everything else sucks. The walls are thin and you'll hear everything. I was unfortunate in that my upstairs neighbors was a family of gorillas. These animals would stomp and pound all hours of the day. They would on several occasions just throw trash and liquids over the balcony. One time a roach crawled out of the ceiling vent, lo and behold the exterminators were there the next day in my upstairs neighbors apartment. The grounds are terrible, it's a muddy disgusting mess outside the sidewalks. Considering the fine example of tenants I described above, they are numerous, and they're too lazy to pick up their dog's shit as well. I even saw one woman rumaging through the trash one day, wtf?! There is tons of shady foot traffic that passes thru as well. The traffic noises and honking can be heard all day from the street. Avoid this place at all costs. It seems like every other month they are inside your place for some reason or another, why do they feel the need to constantly enter hour homes and perform random pointless inspections? Another laughable thing is if you go month-to-month at the end of your lease, they jack the rates up to completely unreasonable levels. God, I hated that place. I gave an extra star for the fact that the staff was pretty helpful, as well as the maintenance people. However, I should point out that the staff definitely came and went quite frequently. read more

While we didn't sign a lease here, the touring experience was excellent. Our agent, Chris H. gave us a very comprehensive walkthrough of a few units that met our various needs. And while I can't speak for the experience of leasing or living here, I can say that I felt well taken care of viewing apartments here and would recommend checking it out if you're looking in the area. read more

Would not move here again. Would not recommend this place. Pros: my apartment has more square footage than other apartments in the area of that price Maintenance is reliable, trustworthy and friendly (even when there is a leak at 3am!) I feel like my neighbors (for the most part) are friendly and responsible. Park, paths, grounds are kept very nice. You can walk to Duck Donuts, the bagel store, MOMS organic. Great bus system. Cons: horrible workmanship inside the apartments- my kitchen has an inch long gap around the perimeter where the floor ends, before the cabinets begin. The craftsmanship of the cabinets in the kitchen is horrible. Minimal hot water at any time of day. Small hot water tank. Management does not take care of things that frustrate tenants - The neighbors below me have SIX cats (which breaks their lease and is illegal in Fairfax County) you can see them laying in the windows and ever since they have moved in the ENTIRE building smells like cat urine. In addition, these neighbors dispose of their trash and cat litter on their first floor porch on a regular basis. It is nasty! It is a HEALTH RISK. I have called to complain to management NUMEROUS times. Each time I call I am passed to a different person. Each time I am told "we will handle it" and nothing happens. I renewed my lease after management told me these tenants were moving out. BUT THEY DIDNT! I am at a loss as to what to do about this, which is why I am writing this review. When I call the front office I never know who will be there, there seems to be different people working there every few months. I don't know who is in charge because when I ask I am passed around. The "manager" never returns my calls. The management has lots of money to spend on parties and activities for the tenants (which may be great for some) but personally I'd rather my rent DOESNT go towards these activities. Maybe it could go towards more relevant expenses like a nicer pool or work out facility. read more

We lived in Stuart Woods for 3.5 years, and could not have had a better experience. The community is beautiful and well maintained. The staff hosts regular community events, such as a holiday dinner or summer cookouts. There are beautiful trails in the back, and there is also a little gym with a few treadmills and weights, which I went to regularly. Our apartment was very sturdy and well built, so it was easy to maintain and we never heard noise from neighbors (note - we were on the top floor). The appliances were not high-end, but they worked well, and the few issues we had were quickly taken care of by the maintenance crew. The water pressure was great, and we never had to worry about hot water. The price was reasonable for the area (which is a very expensive area to live), and while it did go up every year, it was not by much, and the apartment was very clear about expectations in advance. Parking was never a problem for either ourselves or guests, and the complex offers a free shuttle service to the metro station as well. Overall, I loved my time there, and I was sad to go. But I would highly recommend living there to anyone. read more

If you move here, be prepared to fight. I have had 7 consecutive phone calls to the maintenance personnel and have been without use of a toilet several different times. The people in the front office don't seem to care much either. It is a shame because this is a very lovely and quiet location. read more

This place is not worth living and a total stress (no mental peace). I have lived here for a few years and have had a heard horrible experience living here. The management is very rude. Dancy Erika (the manager) has been giving the residents a hard time ever since she joined staurt woods. The management before her had better customer interfacing skills and were rather approachable. She is a liar and raises hell in the life of the residents. Most of the maintenance issues are completely controlled by Dancy Erika. In one incident, she has lied and wanted to charge for replacing/fixing broken items in the apartment mentioning it is all part of the lease. This lie continues for almost everything and none of it is mentioned in the lease. They either will deduct it from the security deposit or will rip the residents in one way or the other. I wonder if she gets some bonus perks from "AJ Dwoskins" for ripping off innocent residents. The last winter they had scheduled power outages for almost 5 to 6 days ( from morning to the evening) during peak winter season for repairing some electrical issues. During the time I had a newborn and after emailing Dancy about my situation , I got no reply. Brutal! Move out notices are very conveniently lost by the management on not one but several occasions reported by many residents and it still continues to happen. I noticed there are many posts from 2015/2016 and recent on this websites where the Stuart's business relations manager has written on this website that they will look into the problems reported internally but I can tell you there is no action taken by the management. Things are still the same and will continue to worsen. I have lived in many apartment rentals across different states but this has truly been my worst experience. read more

This place is a nightmare. I've lived here for over two years and am leaving ASAP. Why? Bitten up by bed bugs, yet I would still rather live with them than my POS neighbors. Hot water heater leaked because it was over 15 years old. The smell of mold was overwhelming. Management did nothing so I sent samples to a lab and found that there were three different species of mold ramped in my apartment. Sent report to management and never heard back. I'd still rather live with mold than my POS neighbors. Parking is horrible. Almost had to pull my concealed carry twice while having to walk three complexes away to get to my apartment. Management's cement floor BS convinced me to take a bottom floor apartment. Total BS. It sounds like I live under a playground. This is one of the worst places I have ever lived. I want to add that one of my co-workers had worse issues, especially with her neighbors and finally moved away last month. read more

One of the worst community in neighborhood, having stayed for 2+ years. Leasing management is the worst. It's more than 4 years in this community . I Strongly Believe the management sitting onsite are not here to resolve the issue . Instead harass the tenants . Its more than 4 years mean more than 48 months , not even single time have missed the rent with a late payment . This is for the 1st time we changed the account we pay from . and some how the payment didn't went through and we got a mail from management stating the same , without a single minute of delay we rushed to them to pay the rent . The management said to pay a certain amount with $50 Fine which we paid through a check then a their . and then after some day we got another mail stating of not paying the Utilities .Then what is the amount you asked us to write in the check then ?? again after paying the check for the utilities we received it back stating it has to be certified with a fine. We provided both of ours , My husband n mine Bank history to prove our credibility to pay the rent . are you doing a favor sitting at office and harassing all the Immigrants like this . who has stayed in the community for more than 4 years . I dont have words to Thank the community Manger with the entire Staff to trouble us and harass us to the extreme they can . read more

I really enjoyed living at Stuart Woods Apartments. I would love to stay, however, my job is changing and I now need to relocate closer to the new office. Pros: The buildings are concrete (walls as well as floors and ceilings) so you will not hear your neighbors unless perhaps they are screaming at the top of their lungs. Because these building are concrete, having a bug problem is unlikely since bugs can't often tunnel through concrete. If there are people with bug problems, they may have brought them with them or are not keeping a tidy house. They offer nice large balconies. The community is quiet and I've always felt very safe. I am a single woman with one small dog so this is important to me. This community is very family friendly with lots of children. Everyone I've met has been pleasant. The office staff is nice and helpful. Whenever I've reported a problem, they have addressed it in a timely manner. The parking is plentiful and the office gives you extra parking passes for guests at no additional charge. There is never a lack of parking (no matter what time you come home). There is a free shuttle to the Wiehle Reston Metro station at peak times. Utilities are bundled for you and the only utility you will need to set up is cable/internet (if you want it). With the bundled utilities, there is a discount so be ready to be impressed with lower bills. The community is located right off of Fairfax County Parkway with easy access to the toll road. This is also just one short block from the town of Reston. I don't think you can live any closer. Because it is technically in Herndon, you get the benefit of Herndon prices with the proximity of fancy Reston nearby. Cons: There have been a couple of maintenance requests where the fix provided was not good enough. Once I voiced my concerns to the office staff, everything was quickly addressed. Although I am not entirely sure, it seems like there is a new property manager and corresponding staff who have been significantly more responsive and pleasant to work with. One small problem, since i have a dog, I've requested to have maintenance call me before entering my apartment so I could kennel my dog, but they do not do this. There have also been a couple of times where they've entered (and I knew they may) but they did not leave a notice behind that they had been in the apartment as well as the name of the person completing the work. Small issues but a tiny bit frustrating at times. All in all, I would highly suggest this community. This was the best place that I found in the area that was nicely priced and safe. read more

Stuart woods is the worst apartment i have come across. I stayed there for 2 years, we had so many issues. last year we had mice in my apartments(even in other units of the building) every now and then(we stayed in 3rd floor) i sent them photographs every time, they used to send the maintenance guy after one or two weeks. they lease bother to find the source, just used to leave some traps. Now a days cops are visiting so often, i saw cops arresting few guys. If you are interested to lease these apartment, better check with the local police station(when we asked leasing office executives, whats the reason for cops regular visits, their response was "check with the local police station"). Last but not least this week i got the move out charges, i surprised seeing those charges. They did not send me the pics. when i went to leasing office, a lady Carolina, took sometime, then she shown me some pictures, i am very much sure that those are not from my apartment. When i insist to show the damages in my apartment unti, there immediate response was asked me to leave that place, as i do not rent any more(that is the way they treat people). Except judy and a lady who sit right most table, when you enter the office all other executives are lazy and rude. Now a days you can see so many move out trucks, management is offering 1 months free ipad cruse. I wish the management concentrate on tenants issues instead of offering free stuff. Other issues: 1. You can hear very clearly , what is your neighbors are discussing in their bedroom. 2. Safety. 3. un-responsive staff Read more: http://www.apartmentratings.com/rate/VA-Herndon-Stuart-Woods-1502464.html#ixzz24cjCZrf8 read more

The apartment management staff are the rudest people I've ever seen in my life. They never help the residents and treat them like dirt. I went in to report that Mahmudur Rahman, one of the office staff gave us wrong information abut what they with kids' bike that they find lying on the playground. I wasn't expecting to get the bike back because it has been two months the bike got lost( we just learned this morning that they actually take any bikes they find on the playground and keep it for 30 days). The manager's response astonished me. She was extremely rude, was screaming the whole time and kept saying that it was our fault we lost the bike. "you people use it as a storage" was her exact words. I dont even know what she was referring to, the bike was left by my 6 year old son on the playground by mistake. She first tried to tell me I did not report to the right office staff about the bike, to this I said that I did and gave her the staff's name (Mahmudur Rahman). She said she won't reprimand the staff because of my report and yelled at me " Are you listening to what I'm saying? I wont apologize again". She never apologized and was yelling at me the whole time. I'm going to report this whole incident to the upper management and see where this goes. read more

Winter time the indians used our foyer inside our apartment section for bus stop..yelling kids in hallway..walking through people to leave your building. Called 4 times about this nothing done. Well we don't live here but were picking up a friend in Stuart Woods apartment and were towed. Unlike many townhouse and apartment complexes in VA, there is apparently no designated visitors parking, in the entire complex. In most townhouse complexes here in VA, there are designated spaces for residents (the house # is painted on the parking space) and some free spots (unmarked or marked "Visitor" ) for visitors. Some of Stuart Woods slots are marked "Reserved" but most are not marked at all. We parked in an unmarked spot and within 30 minutes we were towed. It cost us $150 to get our car back. When I talked to Stuart Woods, they said that there are signs at the entrances (which we missed - it was dark) and that they authorize the towing company, Battlefield Towing to tow at will at anytime. Battlefield was apparently sitting there waiting for someone to make a mistake like we did and pounced right on it (if you are not from Virginia, this is called "predatory towing," is a $6M industry here, and is completely allowed - business owners contract with these shark towing companies to circle their lots and tow for any and every reason). We thought we were parked legally. I just felt that that was so aggressive, especially since we were not in a "Reserved" spot, the huge lot was nearly empty, we were visiting someone on-site, and were not blocking or obstructing anything. It just gave me a really negative feeling about this apartment complex - like it would be hard to have visitors and you would be nervous about having people stop by without a pass from the front office. I would just like to live in a complex where I would not have that constant stress and nervousness everytime someone stopped by. If anyone asked me about this complex, that's what I would say. read more

Don't ever get into these Apartments. The Staff are non-cooperative and very rude except the Lady Judy. They make false promises and at the time of leaving the apartment they will charge you with unnecessary bills. They will increase the rest abruptly and they wont give any benefits to the residents who are already living there but to those who are new comers. The staff is very rude especially the lady who sits at the left as soon as you enter the leasing office. She acts as if she owns the whole place and you are her servants. They say they have amenities but the water is not clean in the swimming pool. The fitness center equipment sometime work and sometimes they don't. The printer in the computer room never worked. If you ask them, they don't even care. Since they increased the rent, everybody started vacating the apartments and they brought the rents down. But BEWARE of these cheaters. Its like a trap and once you enter, you either have to bear all the annoying things or pay a hefty fine at the time of leaving. I would not recommend this apartment to anyone. read more
