Scheduling was not a smooth process, however, and more than a week after they were contacted, we still had not been given an appointment. We contacted Nick at Colonna Consulting and easily scheduled a date for the assessment. We were also finally given a date by the first company, which was one day earlier than Nick's schedule. Their contract stated that reports were usually ready in 2-3 days, but that this was not guaranteed. Nick told us we could have a report the same day and that he would work on the architectural drawing over the weekend (appointment was on a Friday afternoon) if we needed one. We are very happy that we decided to go with Colonna Consulting. Nick arrived on time for our appointment. He was very professional and spent more time than we expected explaining what he found and the appropriate remedy. He was extremely patient and answered all of our questions. We did need an architectural drawing, which was completed over the weekend and sent by email on Monday. He sent the original directly to our contractor for submission with the permit application. I recommend Colonna Consulting without any reservation.

We contacted a different company who reported different issues that would be 60k to repair. We decided since neither of these crawl space experts were engineers that we needed an expert. We found Structural Support and had them do an inspection. Thoroughly done with attention, when complete we shared the estimates we had for these alleged problems. We only had minor issues and most of the estimated services were not needed at all. We have a local trusted contractor working on the matter and due diligence. Reading the reviews of the big name contractors led us to believe we had major problems. When they all identified a problem, each of the contractors suggested totally different things that were relevant, but not needed at all. We strongly recommend using Structural Support, and are thankful for not believing these so called basement experts.

We paid extra for a mold test and have asked for the results multiple times over 3 months and have never received. I firmly believe he never submitted the test and pocketed the cash. I wouldn't recommend and would never use him again. Our home inspector, Ray, was integral to us making an informed decision before taking the leap into home ownership. Ray was prompt and easy to get in contact with; he was always accessible via text or email. During the inspection, Ray did a thorough visual inspection and offered tips and useful information regarding what he saw. Our particular home inspection lasted about 2 hours and included a test for radon, mold, and oil sweep. We received our extensive inspection report within 24-48 hours of completing the inspection (radon and mold test results took roughly a week since the samples needed to be sent to the lab). We (and our attorney) were very glad that we were provided with such an in-depth report as we contemplated next steps. Ray is a licensed P.E. and his structural expertise was much appreciated.
