We stopped here for Sunday lunch in January 2020, after a marathon Saturday in Venice. We chose a table on the terrace for a view of the open Strozzi palazzo. Families with children, as well as others, would wander through providing charming entertainment.
We shared the Cocotte di verdure alla griglia con scamorza filante e veli di pane croccante, or Grilled vegetable cocotte with melted scamorza cheese and veils of crunchy bread (in English). The vegetables included sliced eggplant, carrots, and potatoes, and the dish was delicious. Even Hubby, who isn't fond of eggplant, liked it!
Hubby then had the Risotto con Radicchio Trevigiano Trostino e Pistacchi Tostati, which he also enjoyed, while I had the Roastbeef con Potate al Forno al Rosmarino, and it was very tasty. I had a generous portion and shared some with Hubby.
We even had a pleasant conversation with a couple of regulars, who brought their dog with them! They seemed eager to share information and pleasantries with a couple of American tourists.
The downside of our lunch was being interrupted by at least 3 different people trying to sell us jewelry. The two women, each with a baby on her back, and one man did not look Italian, and may have been in bad shape, but we weren't buying. To them I'm sure we looked like tourists, and so they believed us to be gullible, if not wealthy; we were neither! read more
