Friendly yes! Skilled yes however ..... Very unorganized , Pushes given deadlines, and has cats and room has odor and 1 uncontrolled cat climbed up my Daughters hanging wedding gown (while we were there) and put holes in the tulle Yelena response "oh small I sew up?" Had to get dressed cleaned and pressed ourselves prior to wedding. Her pressing unit was down no adjustment on price for alternate pressing nor for Odor in dress from hanging there for over a month.m nor for damage caused by her one cat. Who knows what all happened with the cats over a month dread thinking about it. Lesson learned! read more

I stopped by when I saw their sign while driving down the street .I needed some custom embroidery done for some workshirts.They were fast and convenient and did a great job.Yelena and Sergei are very friendly and easy to work with. The first time I gave them my artwork, a simple screen shot of our company logo ,they got it setup and had it done and ready for me quickly. If you're in need of small alterations, or a full re-do of a garment, Yelena is a bona fide treasure! New to the area, I had to rely on my internet search to find someone who could help me with the buttons on my bulky leather coat. The buttons had become loose. Some had fallen off and were lost. It was an old coat, but a good one. Super warm and comfortable, so I didn't want to find a new one. Doing an internet search, I found the Alteration Studio, located near my home. Called and Yelena said to come on by, giving me the price she'd charge per button to have them re-sown. The place is very easy to find, a lighted shingle hangs at the foot of her driveway by the street. She knew I was on my way, so she turned on all the lights so in the evening darkness I could easily find my way. Her husband greeted me at the door to her studio. I brought the coat needing buttons, but also a business jacket a friend gave me, which I felt needed a few 'nips & tucks' to get it to fit. Yelena asked me to try it on, so she could see what changes the jacket needed. She took one look at me in the jacket and tactfully said something along the lines: I can alter it, but really it doesn't fit well to begin with. It's too big. If you have me do the work, I don't think you're going to be thrilled with the overall look. You need this jacket one size smaller. Wow! That is the kind of generous honesty we all hope for! Especially if we're going to be putting out our hard earned cash. She was so right! It was too big. So I left without having the jacket altered.. A few days later when I returned to pick up the coat, not only had Yelena replaced the buttons she'd charged for, but she went through the coat removing and tightening ALL the buttons. Plus, she'd moved buttons around (the replacement buttons were close, but not a perfect match to the originals). She had gone far above what I'd originally requested, and at the same price she'd quoted. Amazing! I couldn't be any more thrilled. When I arrived to pick up the coat I brought a pair of pants which had a 1" bit of stitching which had given way. I was going to leave them for her to stitch-up, but instead she stopped what she was doing, changed all the thread on her bobbins and made the wee patch while I waited. Honestly, it couldn't get any better! If you need alterations, from a simple alteration, all the way to a complete re-do, be sure to get a quote from Yelena. I cannot express enough how much of a blessing Yelena was to me during my time in the Cleveland are for grad school. Yelena worked with me from small repair jobs to huge alterations and did it all with grace. She altered my bridesmaid gown on short notice and my sister's bridesmaid gown on even shorter notice - I'm talking less than 48 hours. She is kind, sweet and diligent. I would recommend this family-owned business to anyone because Yelena did such an amazing job tailoring my Pronovias lace wedding gown. I can't thank her enough for all of her hard work and kindness. I ended up calling Yelena my Fairy God Mother because she helped me out with a very expensive dress that was ordered in the wrong size for me by the dress shop. It was a stressful time in my life and she truly fixed my dress problem and did not over charge me even though she could have! She took my dress in at the waist, added cups and a bustle and significantly lowered the back of my dress and charged me 50% less than what the other alterations companies were quoting me. She has an incredible work ethic and is extremely talented and a true perfectionist. She truly cares about the product that she leaves you with and I am so so so thankful that my sister-in-law recommended her to me!!!! My first experience with Strongsville Alterations was with their embroidery service, I needed 120 zip up jackets and fleece sweat shirts embroidered for my staff's Christmas gifts. I waited until the last minute and the place I normally use could not get them done in time; fortunately for me I was referred to Strongsville alterations by a friend and much to my delight I met Yelena and her husband. Not only did they get this done in time, they looked AMAZING. A week later I had an event that required black tie attire. I am NEVER find anything that fits just right, being a bit busty with smaller hips, always puts me in a frenzy trying on a million things with little satisfaction. I fell in love with a dress and was determined to wear it. It was a 2 piece gown and the flowing silk skirt was 6 inches to long, to big in the hips and I was at LEAST three inches away from getting the top close to zipping. I was reminded that this company was an alterations place as their expertise and thought if they are this great at embroidery I'd see if they could help. With the event 2 days away I was panicking, I brought Yelena my dress on a Thursday late afternoon and she looked at me like I was nuts when I told her I needed a top that was 3 sizes to small to fit by Saturday (not to mention the skirt hemmed, the waist taken in, the hips adusted). Low and behold, she called me the next day to come and see the beginning stages of her alterations, I could see things heading in the right direction and told her to proceed, Saturday was the event and she called me first thing in the morning to come and pick it up and try on for final fitting...AMAZED by her work AGAIN. Do yourself a favor, go someplace else. Left a dress there for a week. Called and she said it was ready. Got there, dress not even touched. Then she wanted us to refresh her memory on what needed to be done!?! No thanks. Took the dress somewhere else for less money and a great job. read more
