Excellent find! What a fantastic pizza! We were staying at the fancy tent place up the road and were pretty hungry and fancied a beer or two. Whip out the trusty Yelp app and we are on our way to this wonderful little gem! I have found this app to be a great tool for finding local gems like this. We arrive and it's a bit under construction from the looks of it. This is a family business in the truest sense. They do all of the work themselves, at least when I was here. He is adding on to the place and creating more seating. He manned the oven and she waited on the tables and I feel like there were some of their children working in the back as well. There are a few other families there with us. One other from our campsite that I noticed when were arriving. I love the fact that the stones for the oven came from the ground right out front of the place while they were digging it up to build the patio. How cool is that?!?!? He told me all about it when I asked if he had built it himself. He hired a mason locally he said. Ok. Pizza hits the table. Wow. I could list 42 adjectives describing how good it was, but you just need to go see for yourself!! Perfect crust though!! Perfect! Do that as fast as you can! It was our first night in Blue Hill, ME and we decided to try this restaurant. We got the pepperoni pizza w/ ricotta, meatball sub, and hot apple drink. The pizza had a perfect crispy crust and was delicious. So was the meatball sub. The drinks were also superb. The place was not busy and we were able to sit outside under the lights. This is a fun place in what feels like the middle of nowhere. Lots of outdoor seating, 4-5 beers on tap, a selection of wine and cocktails as well. This year they have expanded their menu to include some salads, sandwiches, pasta, and several starters as well as the chicken wings and pizza they offered last year. Tonight we had pints of localish beer ($9 each), a house salad ($10), and a pepperoni pizza ($20). Beer was good, salad was fine but nothing special - pretty much spinach, lettuce, tomato, red onion and a little bit of cheese with Italian dressing on the side, and the pizza was tasty. The pepperoni was spicy and thick and really flavored the pizza. My parents had a cheese and thought that it didn't have enough sauce or cheese, and I didn't try it but by the looks I would agree with that. They felt it didn't have much flavor and I do think that if ours didn't have pepperoni, I would have felt the same. But it is a fun spot to spend an hour, especially on a nice afternoon. read more

Atmosphere is good. Pizza is very good. Margarita cocktail recipe needs work. Service needs polishing. If the older lady taking orders (and making drinks,) at the bar is talking with her friends or guests, good luck if you need to make an order. She will just stand there and talk until they tell her that you're standing there waiting. It happened twice, once with myself and another with my husband. Zero acknowledgment that you are standing there or even an apology that she didn't care enough to pay attention. Anotger irksome thing was employees were sitting on their butts out on the chairs meant for guests until we put the order in . Then they got up. Very unprofessional! All the employees are kind of on a downbeat.No one chipper or customer service oriented , at least on the days we went. Other than that Information, just know that you'll order, pick up and buss your own table & clean up after yourself( which is not a problem, truly.) But, it would be worth the tip I gave, if we at least got a smile and any attention at all when we wanted to order. read more

This was our first time at Strong's public House and it won't be our last! We had the white pizza and are eating the last two pieces for breakfast. So delicious. Lemon flavored ricotta and honey...so good. Very nice atmosphere. I had a Negroni which was perfectly made. The staff were friendly and helpful. Stopped here just on a whim driving back from Deer Isle where everything is closed on Sunday. Best beer hands down from any local brewery in a 30-60 mile radius. The food truck is now a regular fixture, and it is a winner. We tried the lobster roll, the bacon apple cheddar sandwich, and the potato salad: all were gold. The beers remain solid, and good classic rock background ambiance to keep the experience both energetic and mellow. I'll be hoping they can return to serving in non disposable glasses by my next time; I appreciate their caution, but the science shows that COVID is not transmitted via glassware surfaces, as long as those surfaces are sanitized between use. read more

Visited Strong Brewing today. This is only my third time being here as it is a little bit of a trek from home. I decided to order a flight, which is my typical order at a brewery. The flight included five beers including a Berliner weisse porter, IPA, Saison, and gose. They only had 5 on tap so the flight choice is standard. A good variety to say the least. Started with the Gose as this style of beer is one of the few I do not like. It was a typical style sour beer with a color similar to a pinot grigio. difficult to describe the smell but the first flavor you get is wine like which turns to a sour ness not to my liking. But like I said I do not like sour beers. Next was the berlinner weisee which is new beer I am seeing more often. Color is hazy yellow and smell is sweet and fruity. Taste is like a slightly sour white beer. Overall it is nice and flavorful. The saison was a clear golden color and smelled of wonderful Belgian maltiness. The flavor is classic Saison style with a nice malty forefront and bitter ending. Overall a good saison. I like to leave my favorite for last so the porter was next. It was a dark brown color w with a pleasant, not overpowering, smell of bread, chocolate, and coffee. Taste is very malty with a slight hop background. The dark masks party a strong role with the flavor and overall it is nice and subtle. Not the most flavorful porter, but better than many I have tried. On to the IPA. Slight haziness with dark golden color. Pine and citrus notes. Slight bitterness up frpnt with a strong hop note at the nack end. Almost has a DIPA charecteristic to it. Very good taste overall and an excellent end to the flight. Strong is a small and rural brewery but full of character and overall good beer. read more

I visited Strong Brewing Company while visiting a friend in Maine. While the selection is limited, with only 5 beers on tap, the beers they do have are wonderful. The Localmotive, Midsummer Nights Dream, and Hangar a Bateaux Saison are my particular favorites. The Midsummer Nights Dream is tropical without being too sweet, almost akin to a piña colada in flavor. The saison is my favorite! I was greeted warmly when I entered and they have ample outdoor seating (and play great music outdoors and inside). I would definitely make a repeat trip. read more

Just lovely. They claim that it's relaxed and family-friendly, which is true. And their history favors community over production. People seemed to be enjoying each other's company, and singles were welcome too. Some of the reviews mentioned live music, but actually, I think one reason it felt relaxed and human-centered was that there wasn't any music; people could talk to each other and hear the sounds of nature. So why do you find your way to a craft brewery? Our goal is to experience new and innovative brews and have enlightened conversation with the staff. Well it didn't happen here. We checked out the 'brew board' on the wall and asked about a couple of our possible selections. The question was , how could I compare this selection to something I know. The answer from the single person serving was..'I don't know, I don't drink that.' OK so another selection was queried. The same answer was given for that question. OK, so the final answer from the staff member was...I DON'T DRINK! Well that set the scene. I wonder if the management realizes how their product is being presented to people that have a real interest in the product but their staff has little or none. I understand if someone chooses not to drink but the minimum should be they would and could give a good explanation of what their product was. The beer itself gets four or five stars. It was tasty,well balanced and had many diverse flavors,but I had to buy several pours to find that out because the staff could not explain what was being presented. If you want to go and make your own choices of some pretty good craft beer. stop on by. Maybe that is their marketing strategy you have to buy each and every one to know if you like it or not. This is an awesome spot. Our dog was welcome by the picnic tables with us- there is a rooster and a chicken walking around- we met the brewer and he is so friendly. Fantastic, intimate and bold family-owned and operated brewery. The brewer is passionate about his craft and the family is determined to follow their passion and it shows. They know their beer! We choose the 6 beer sampler with 5 oz pours for just $13. A bargain. From a fantastic porter to a killer double IPA and everything in between, I enjoyed each one and was impressed at the uniqueness of each one. For me, I absolutely loved the Blue Baron, a blueberry Berliner Weisse that knocks any other sour I've had off its rocker! Awesome job Strong Family! I had stumbled across this place an hour before it opened and daw the owner. I was driving 8 hours home but had told him I wanted to try his beers. He was very rude and made no attempt to show pride in his product. I did try the beers from a friend from the area who actually had put some of their beer in my cooler as a gift home (along with other beers from area). The best around! Good beer, good company, good times!! This quaint brewery in Sedgewick is on the way to any Blue Hill Peninsula destination and is ABSOLUTELY worth the stop.
