For the most part they did fine, They do not listen or hear what a customer advises them regarding the customer contents, they came unprepared and did not adjust even after seeing issues. We had a LOT of small boxes 6 x 8x 7. trust me when I say the boxes were crushed, dumped contents lost, it will take months to inventory the lot to determine the dollar value lost or damaged. They stacked heavy tools on top of these small boxes, that was not good, then they had to unload a truck and reload the contents because they would not listen when I told then the items were heavy, I men heavy, and of course that time was charged to the customer. The two men that did the move were exhausted at the end of the day, the next day they did not care where they dropped the contents they just were tired and wanted the task ended. The theory of this type of movers is great if the service listens. hears and actually pays attention with what the customer warns them about, I do not want to be negative but the end result was a expensive loss to my wife and I that will take months to determine the net loss to us for this move. Then while he and his employee was taking a sectional sofa apart my friends 17 year old daughter asked them to wait something didn't look right the owner told her to f@#$ off..he then grabbed his coat and left not talking to anybody. Honestly I'm not sure if this is his norm how he stays in business. The movers were rude and disrespectful, the driver spun the tires (didn't know that was possible in a moving truck) and had to have been going atleast 50 on a residential street with kids playing. Then when getting the second load the owner said to an elderly lady, "I didn't realize you had this much shit!". Then told his works to unload the truck before taking the second load and they quite literally started throwing all the boxes out of the truck and left after only taking one load. These guys are great if you only need to move hay bales. I on the other hand had a whole house of expensive furniture, antiques, China and crystal, as well as boxes. They show up in a u haul truck, guy that owns it and two kids that cannot read cursive so fragile items were not carefully taken care of. The damage to the furniture was pointed out as they were unloading and when I said something to him, he got angry and fairly abusive. I've heard he has been rude to other customers also. Spend the extra money and hire professional movers. Scratches on all the furniture, damaged antiques, broken crystal in three different boxes, scratches on the walls in new house are just a part of the horrible experience with this very un professional man and his teenage crew. The main driver was incredibly rude and unprofessional. He continued to question me in an argumentative way. Things worked out exactly as I had said, they just took longer than I had estimated. They were 30 min late and then expected me to be waiting for them. They then said it would take 4 hours (my last move took 2) so we went into town only to then have them call us to say they were at my house so then we rushed home. Communication was terrible. My children and I helped so we could at least get it done in 3 hrs. Moving is stressful and I didn't even get decent customer service. To top it all off, when I called the owner to discuss my concerns, he texted me back threatening to find my employer and let them know how I treated his employee! Arrived over an hour late with 4 men and 2 trucks then owner left with a truck and did not return. Remaining 3 worked hard with breaks and an hour lunch but after lunch slowed considerably. Took about 2 1/2 hours to load first load but close to 4 hours to unload it, mostly into a garage. Second trip they called owner who arrived with additional people and after loading asked if they could finish next morning at 8 am as it was hot. Next day arrived after 9 with 3 guys again and unloaded in about an hour. Again, mostly into a garage. Owner billed for 24 man hours, claiming he stayed for 2 1/2 hours (which he didn't) and then for 6 people for an hour in the evening. I did not ask for additional people and initial quote of $80 an hour was far exceeded as it turned into $40 an hour per person. When called after getting bill for over $1000 dollars I was told it was a bargain and he should have charged me more. NOT a good value. Will not recommend or use again. Definitely worth paying more reputable movers who are not trying to squeeze extra hours out of you. read more

There are not words to describe how rude and unprofessional this company is. This company is not capable of doing the job they are hired for and they are unwilling to redeem their reputation. They responded to us with name calling and excuses. All we needed was help moving a few pieces of furniture and it took them over 3 hours and my husband ended up having to assist, which we were trying to avoid as he had been recovering from cancer treatments. Absolutely horrible experience. Movers damaged multiple items. One was a lamp that they owned up to and took for repair. The others we found after they left. When we brought it to the owner's attention he said he would repair everything when the lamp was fixed. We also had a chair missing but he insisted the chair must be somewhere and we are just missing it. He later made additional claims that he hoped his workers were smart enough to steal something of more value than a random chair. I was less concerned they stole it for a price but more that it was damaged and never returned to hide it. He had an employee drop off the lamp and that employee asked if we found the chair and then started walking away before I could finish telling him no we didn't find it amd as he walked away he said "well, we didn't take it so...." This visit was also not scheduled nor any advance notice given and it was early in the morning he pounded on the door and woke my babies. The mover did not stay to fix anything and the owner did not contact me after that to set anything up. When I requested a very small partial refund of $60 to help cover cost of replacing furniture, the owner had a horrible attitude and accused me of lying. He said none of the things I said actually happened even though I provided photographic proof and then blamed me of damaging my own furniture and trying to make his company look bad. As stated in previous reviews, the owner was extremely rude, took no accountability, denied everything even though he wasn't even there that day, and then called me unreasonable and belligerent. He said we could work out a solution if I called and then ignores my phone call and text me that he would call later, which he did not. He told me to go ahead and try to get police involved it wouldn't matter and that his insurance company would never pay the claim. He told me if I tried to take it to small claims (which I never brought up) that he would win. He was a total child about everything and extremely emotional and dramatic. Scott, the owner of strong backs for you, was absolutely horrible. He moved us across the country to another state and when we got to our location he hired helpers to help him unload the truck. The helpers did an amazing job in our opinion. They worked harder than he did the whole time. Scott told them to bring a couch upstairs and they got the couch stuck because it was too wide for the doorway. Our doorway ended up getting totally scuffed up (see picture). He got so mad at them even though it was his fault so in our front yard, in our brand new neighborhood, in front of our neighbors, and in front of our young son, he cursed and used the F word multiple times yelling at them to leave. It looked like white trash central!! We just couldn't believe it. We have SO MANY pieces of furniture that we're terribly scratched and scuffed up, including an antique china cabinet. He even hit our metal mailbox knocking it down bc he wasn't paying attention when he was backing up. He refused to pay anything to cover the costs (except for part of the mailbox.) He claims there was no proof that he scratched or broke anything. I sent him a very kind text asking him to cover some of the costs and he sent such a disgusting text back saying there was no way in heck he'd do that. So I never write reviews but this was the worst experience I have ever had. The movers were fast but not efficient or careful. When they have a 2 hr minimum you would think they would take their time and use the full amount I paid them for, instead of finishing in one hour. They absolutely destroyed my bed frame. It was able to be disassembled but instead of talking to me about disassembling it, they took a hammer to finished screws to take it apart and completely split the wood down the entire bed frame. They were so unprofessional and kept hurting themselves and yelling. It was the most stressful experience of my life. They also destroyed my dresser. They packed my upack terribly and it had to be re packed. Please avoid using these movers. They ruined much of my furniture and made my moving experience a million times more stressful than what it needed to be. read more

We moved to Helena one year ago, but I noticed I had not left a review for these guys. We moved to Helena from Utah with two of the largest U-hauls that were packed completely full. We had checked with some contacts through church for people who might help, but luckily decided to hire Strong Backs 4 U as well. We arrived on a Friday evening. The owner had kept in contact with me throughout the day as they were open to moving us in Friday evening if we arrived early enough. But, otherwise they would keep their appointment for Saturday morning as planned. We arrived in town about 5:30pm after driving all day, so I called him and let him know. At about 6, he showed up with a great crew. I had paid for two hours, and they had both trucks unloaded in only 1 1/2 hours. I thought they would just take their money and leave early, but they insisted on staying and moving stuff around for us in the house. So, for the next 30 minutes, they went through the house and set up 5 beds and mattresses, and moved all of my food storage into a store room. We all got to sleep on our own beds that night! They were great, hard working, and friendly. It costs a lot to move, and initially looking at a few hundred dollars more to hire them to come felt like just another expense. But, when it was all done, and the stress of the previous days packing up a house was over, I am so grateful I spent the money. It was well worth it. And, when the church members showed up the next morning at 10am only to find that everything was complete and nothing to life or move I was happy, and they were REALLY happy! So, I do highly recommend. The other reviewer, Mary Ann, doing a cross town move might be a little different from my experience. But for me, where I just pulled two trucks up to my house, and they had them unloaded in less time than they allotted and stuck around to help set up the house, I am 110% pleased with the work and the cost. We moved within Helena and used Strong Backs 4 U for packing and moving. I was delighted about the lower price tag as well as an opportunity to support a local family business since we intend to stay in Helena for a long time. Packing was done well and everything was well protected. The team that packed was kind and when they were unable to meet the scheduled appointment due to illness for a member of the team, they rescheduled and showed the next day (even though we could tell she didn't feel 100%). They were conscientious of our kids and did a great job. The movers were careful and conscientious of both homes and made sure everything was loaded and moved through the house without damages. They moved my baby grand piano appropriately which was a relief because many moving services, even the bigger professional ones, can butcher a piano move and cause major damage! Where this went awry was in professionalism. The head of the crew fast realized that he was going to need to make two trips and he had not allocated enough time to do so. I understand having more stuff in a house than anticipated and taking longer, but it had been discussed prior to today that they were already planning to take 2 trips, so why was time enough for two trips not planned for? They did not have enough time to finish our job that day, so they said they would have to look at their next available appointment. We immediately called church friends for help because we really did need to get moved quickly, which is why we hired professionals rather than trying to do it ourselves. After that phone call, the lead of the crew told my husband that they'd better just part ways after that and that they were no longer interested in completing the job for us at the next available appointment, even implying heavily that our friends on the phone should just take over from there. We were profusely apologetic for any offense we may have caused. At that point, they knew they were only doing one trip and that the remaining items would be moved by us and friends. The way that this was communicated in and of itself was unprofessional. But I was incredibly disappointed when I found that the one load they did take had not included our washer and dryer which had to move upstairs in the new place. If professional movers are moving you and will not be able to finish the job, don't you think the biggest heaviest most awkward items would be of the most priority? I would say maybe they didn't know that the laundry room was upstairs at the destination, but they moved the previous residents out of this house. It's not a huge company with a million employees. I would be interested in why boxes took priority over the washer and dryer in the one and only trip they were willing to do for us. They also told me over the phone when we found out that they would be unable to finish that day, that they'd at least make sure everything that was left was moved to the garage so that I could clean tomorrow. Found out from husband that they left an entire bedroom set in the bedroom and did not move it to the garage. After our phone call to friends for help, the leader's entire attitude became, well if they're going to have someone else finish this for them, they can just do that. But who was that "someone else?" Were it another company, I can kind of understand being slightly offended. But an offended professional should still be professional. And it was not another company. It was a few guys from church. And they, being amazingly kind and helpful, are not professionals so now the paint on the walls is all chipped in a few spots from trying to hoist the dang washer and dryer up the stairs. Disappointed in the unprofessional approach in the face of adversity. Sure, it sucks that they couldn't finish today. But it sucks more for them to have an attitude with us for seeking help from friends. And it sucks that after professionals we had to go back for the washer and dryer. What they did do was done really well. I'm super impressed with what they did do and that their crew was clean and kind during the job. Moving furniture isn't glamorous work and they were great. And you can't beat the price. But I think there is a lot to be said for professionalism and I was disappointed in that aspect. At the very least, do what you said you were going to do (moving the leftovers to the garage and let us know when that next appointment is). read more

Would prefer to give 0 stars. Owner arrived at our door. My sister asked if he and his daughter wore masks due to the Covid 19. He said they were exempt by the Governor. I asked him to wait a minute while we worked out how they could come and go in the house without masks. I turned my back and he left without a word. Left us high and dry in the midst of a stressful time clearing out my mother's home following her death. I tried calling him and when he heard it was me on the phone, he hung up. I'm a disabled veteran and we hired this guy to move our things from storage to our new place. He had a bad attitude from the start. Inside of the storage unit we had stored some things inside of the entertainment center to conserve space. He tried to lift it without first removing the things from inside and the weight of it all caused the top to crack. He lost his patience and threw it onto a cart and then banged it again really hard into the wall. He proceeded to throw a tantrum like a 3 yr old and completely demolished our entertainment center into pieces. When I asked him if he was going to reimburse us for it, he tried to say it was already broken before he tried to pull it out, when I was standing there watching the whole thing happen. He got really upset and aggressive and told me to forget the whole job, he's not doing it, and proceeded to throw all our boxes back out of his truck. He was so aggressive about the whole thing I had to call the police and get them over there to make sure it didn't escalate into a physical confrontation over the way he was handling our things. Hired these guys to move us out of one house and into another. Had antiques and very expensive furniture. The damage was everywhere. Brand new washer and dryer with glass top scratched and dryer also gouges on top. Antique wardrobe damaged even broke a knob iff the door and just threw it inside wardrobe. One of our bedroom dressers was marred up to the point it looked like a choked beat it with a metal toy. The footboard to the bed was scuffed in one bedpost. I said something to Scott and he said if you don't like what I'm doing I'll leave and you can get someone else. These guys are all about getting the job done fast and no care for your items is considered. Get someone else....Rude and careless and in too big a hurry to care about your things. Then wants to leave in middle of job if you say anything. They also scraped the paint on the wall placing furniture and didn't bother to tell me about that either. We scheduled with the owner a month in advance. We received a call after 5:00 PM the night before the move telling us they would be at our house at around 9:30 the next morning when we had booked for 8:00 AM. They scheduled a last minute job in front of us. When they did finally arrive, they were obstinate, uncooperative, and chaotic. One of the guys tried looking in every box he loaded onto the truck. We are pretty sure these are guys on a pre-release program (fresh out of jail). They had barely gotten our furniture out of the house and into the moving truck, and we were seeing all kinds of damage they were causing. So, we paid them to leave and we loaded the truck ourselves (which put us behind half a day, on top of them already being an hour and a half late).
