I asked for a better price or discount and was told that the best they could do was to match the Polaris website. I told them that I had been given a discount in the past since I was shopping local and was a loyal customer. I was told they don't do that anymore. I asked for a manager and was told that there was no manager at the business, this was Thursday afternoon...a regular work day in the middle of the day, and when I questioned where the managers were I was told they were off. I requested that the employee call a manager and he agreed but then walked off so that there would be no chance I could speak to them. Later talked to a manager and he stated this was not a store for me. I agree. I will spend my $ elsewhere.

Turns out I had a faulty rear cam phase wire. Unfortunately, I am out of warranty with only 3100 miles on my bike. Maverick service team stepped up, got it fixed and sorted it out with Harley Corporate. I have owned a lot of bikes over the years and I can say Maverick always goes above and beyond to take care of my bike. Trip and Dane are always great to deal with!!

The staff outside busy moving all the bikes to the front greeted us and welcomed us into the store. The ladies inside gave us suggestions and helped me pick out the best gifts. This type of friendly helpful customer service is worth mentioning, and very rare so minutes before closing. And for the cherry on top they wrapped my purchases so nicely and ready to deliver. Today I called them for help since it wouldn't start and David talked me through some diagnostics over the phone. With his help we got it to fire right up and at no charge to me. I brought the bike back in to have the throttle fixed and when they returned it, it was worse than before. The "mechanic" swapped the R1 ignition coils with R6 ignition coils and put a bad TPS in. After doing this, the bike no longer ran and the store ghosted me. I have now spent $100 on new coils and $500 on repairs. Would never recommend this shop.

The invoice states the tube was a Drag Speciality and I trusted it was. A few days later I was riding in Comanche County and the tube popped - the bike towed to a reputable shop in Stephenville (boneyard cycles) where the shop owner there discovered the tube was pinched and was NOT a Drag Speciality tube but more than likely an Amazon tube. I brought the tube to 5 Star where the owner Tony threw the tube back at me and said it wasn't his tube. I asked Manny his "service manger" if he backed up Tony and he stated "I wasn't back there when they replaced it". I asked to speak to the mechanic who changed it and was told he was on vacation. Tony refuses to back his parts and labor warranty DO NOT BRING YOU BIKE HERE

Big D has a fine collection of different Norton, Triumph and other assorted bikes from the late-60s to the early-80s in immaculate restored condition. For the uninitiated, there is a slight learning curve involved in transitioning from a modern electric ignition bike with standardized shifting to a classic euro bike. First, there's no electric start. You'll be getting vigorously acquainted with a kickstarter on most of the models. Second, there is a variety of shift patterns, some are left side, some are right side, some are 1d5u, while others are 1u5d. Best of luck remembering. The last thing to remember about riding around on a loud, fast cafe racer from England is that the bikes of yesteryear shake. And how. It is not uncommon to arrive at a destination to find out your taillight is barely hanging on by the last thread of only one screw as it has backed out and is now trying to leave you. This is part of the allure of fun old bikes. You get to tinker. And who better to ask how to trick out your cafe racer than the staff of Big D. These guys regularly swing down to the Saltflats and have run streamliners and set records. They have bikes in fully restored conditioned, and in rolling frames. If you've got questions, they've got answers when it comes to the classics. This is a must-stop on a Saturday ride around the Metroplex.
