Supervisors often show up at 5:30 or 6 a.m. to buy a scad of burritos for their crews. The staff is fast so there is not a terrible wait, but there will be some. Apparently there is a full menu but I've only ever seen the menu boards posted on the outdoor walls. Menus and Cabrito are available Saturdays and Sundays only (written on the wall) and there is some indication that sandwiches are available as well, but I've never gotten past the burritos. It's a limited menu, but a tasty one and nothing has disappointed me yet. And did I mention it's only like $5 for a good sized burrito? For a normal human type person, that's a meal. For a super hungry roughneck, two oughtta do it and you're still out for ten bucks. Personal note, I'm partial to the Chile Verde burrito, but I'm gonna branch out. Next vist"?: asado!

It beat the next cheapest by three cents! Cheap! The gas here was the true ol' 87 octane, not that cheap cut stuff full of ethanol. The drink selection here was epic! Seriously, this place has almost as many drink offerings as a Johnny Rockets! I got the fabled Ranch Dressing soda and a cola that tastes like BBQ chicken wings! Score! This place also is the local king for snacks with so many chip and candy selections. I was impressed that this is also the neighborhood source for smoking paraphernalia. The clerk was mostly aloof and was on the phone throughout the entire transaction, but paused his conversations long enough to tell me the total and to sign the receipt. The store wasn't wholly clean or well lit. Much of the windows were covered up with tobacco and malt liquor advertisements. Parking was easy. It has a few gas pumps. This convenience store isn't located on a hard corner, but a long retail stretch instead.

A slight cowboy tinge to a modern minimalist coffee shop. It makes sense being in oil city, where Landman is based. Its storefront has this old brick feeling, and inside the space is gorgeous. Plenty of natural light leaks through, with wood accents and granite tables. They have a kitchen in the back because on Fridays they have a full breakfast menu that is delicious. The staff is kind and cozy. You forget you in Midland entirely, and you feel transported to a coffee shop in South Austin. That's how above and beyond this place feels The coffee is top notch every time. This time I got their Bourbon Latte from the winter menu, which was great, while my girlfriend got their Cafe de Olla that she really enjoyed. The space is nice for work or just relaxing. I got some reading in while my girlfriend knitted. It was a great time. If you are ever passing through Midland or live in the area, it is worth a stop. I got their light Landman Lager (you know because Landman is based in Midland), and it was crisp and easy to drink. My girlfriend got herself a darker brew that she loved as well. Couple minutes, order was ready. I asked for an apple fritter too but Johnny couldn't deliver his oven broke down. He apologized said he would have some tomorrow. No worries, headed to my office. Back on the twenty, I reached over and pulled a donut from the box, took a bite and instantly got taken back to the early 80s. Damn!!! No over saturated fats, no crisco on the roof of my mouth. No high fructose corn syrup sugars. Good lord!!! Who is Johnny?! Wow!!! Damn right I'll be back.

In an area with so many big rigs they have showers, restrooms, truck parking, diesel lanes and PJ Fresh offering pizza, meat loaf, chicken, wings and sides. Overall it's pretty clean and wasn't busy on a Saturday morning, makes a great halfway stop. PS it is smaller than your traditional Pilot Travel Centers but new!

You order at the counter. The menu on the wall has plenty of options from lunch plates, tacos, burritos, tortas and the like. The burritos come on homemade tortillas, and beans are a staple. They make them in front of you scooping up whatever goodness you have selected. We got the chile verde (my favorite) and the asadero which was a saucy, red concoction. The burritos are $3.50 each and very filling. The salsa they give you is hot. I will definitely be back to try some of the other offerings. One other note, I could not find a single diet soda in the joint.

The entrance is at the new traffic signal corner of W 42nd St and State Hwy 302 (Kermit Hwy). There are about a dozen of fuel pumps for autos and diesel lanes are to the back. This Pilot includes a self serve Dunkin (NOT Dunkin Donuts) with day old donuts, PJ Fresh serves all the pizza (2/$7 or $3.59 ea), chicken strips, wings, roasted chicken ,sides and more. Inside the store is very spacious, clean and new restrooms and showers for drivers. Overall close to the in laws, I'll be stopping here more often!
