When I think of Stripers I think of their incredibly comfortable Adirondack chairs on their secluded well manicured lawn overlooking the ocean, maybe around sunset, maybe sailboats are passing by, definitely with a cocktail and a little snack too. But it feels like every time I tell a local about this spot, they've never heard of it. So why is this such a secret? Or maybe it's not, but their demographic seems to be older and touristy. Which is fine, but this place has *so much* potential to be a - for lack of a better word - hipper spot. They've got inside dining, outside dining, and the aforementioned lawn seating (albeit with a much more limited menu then when I first came; please bring back your fries with dipping sauces, Stripers, because your fries are absolutely delicious and adults like finger foods too). They're super accommodating about dietary restrictions: as a vegetarian, I tried the BBQ Jackfruit Lettuce Wraps (with pickled cabbage slaw and avocado aioli; delicious but messy), Frozen Grapes (with feta, walnuts, and honey; positively delightful and perfectly summery), Blistered Shisto Peppers (such a good shareable plate), Salt & Vinegar Chips with Dill Pickle Dip (the inner kid in you will love the fun flavors of this!), Stripers Burger (with black bean patty, swiss, mushrooms, caramelized onions, and mustard aioli; one of the better vegetarian burgers I've had!). For cocktails the PB&J ON THE ROCKS was the standout (smoked PB whisky, chambord, and frangelico). An absolute 10/10; make this your dessert and take your drink down to the Adirondack chairs to finish your evening. What would have made this an 11/10 would have been a skewer of strawberries! I had dinner and drinks here on the water with a friend, and really enjoyed myself! The menu is robust, they have vegetarian options, seafood, and lots of yummy apps including the dill pickle dip, which was my favorite, followed by roasted shishito peppers which I found out are delightful. The food was amazing, service was impeccable, and the view is just *chefs kiss*. Being in KPort, it's definitely on the pricier side, but affordable. Most of the people eating dinner here were in their 50s, so we felt a tad out of place, but overall I did enjoy myself very much! Maybe a little live music for the outdoor tables? Or play some music overhead? All in all I had a great experience. That view can't be beat! read more

Booked the restaurant before hand, during covid-19, they only have outdoor seating ( like any restaurant in Maine ) so the table is very limited The staffs all pleasant and nice, seated right away, not rushing you and all to order the drink and food ( because I was waiting other people ) . To order a drink you have to allow for a 30 minute wait for the first drink for your party of 3 to arrive. While your friend is being polite waiting 15 more minutes for your drinks to arrive, the server finally comes back with your wine. The server then asks you if you want any food. You tell her you gave her your order 45 minutes ago but if she forgot it is calamari. The view is beautiful but go somewhere else for wine or food read more

Food was good, but service was a bumbling circus of ridiculous frustrating screw-ups in slow motion. The level of incompetence was astounding. Started badly with the drink order, when I was informed that the drink was not available. When I pointed to the bottle of it behind the bar, I was told that it wasn't in the POS computer system. The garlic oil from the mussels appetizer was spilled all over my leg. One of our 6 entrees was left off the order, and finally arrived 30 minutes after everyone else had been served. Being an industry veteran, the professional courtesy afforded to me on the evening of December 15th by the Executive Chef and Sous Chef of Stripers, was nothing short of wonderful and beneficial in the planning of an upcoming family event. Having been in the restaurant industry for many years, having a customer wanting to tell a chef everything they did right about a meal is far less frequent than them wanting to voice complaints. We dined on the Steak and Cheese egg rolls which were delightful, the wrappers crisp even with the sauce and the steak was tender and juicy. We also got the house pickle plate, the star of which was the pickled pear, just incredible! Highly recommend. For dinners, my wife got the Scallops Fra Diavolo, the scallops were cooked impeccably, and the pappardelle past cooked al dente with just enough sauce to coat. I got the Smash Burger, this mountain of a burger was cooked perfectly, the only thing that I would have liked more would be if the fries were crisper. This is a "me" thing, I like really crisp fries. read more

While my allergies were accommodated, the food was mediocre as compared to past meals. Service was slow and our appetizer arrived with our meal. I went to Stripers for a dinner with my Mom and brother to celebrate our Mother's Birthday. We had nice seats with a great view overlooking the harbor. We started with three delicious appetizers (Satay Lettuce Wraps, Mushroom Toast and Lobster & Crab Rangoon Dip) and a few drinks (Margarita and Peach Old Fashioned) that were very tasty. We each got an entrée and two of them (Salmon and Cheeseburger w/ side Caesar) were excellent and perfectly cooked. Unfortunately one of them (Chicken) was not cooked to the standards they typically have, but their the service was excellent and they allowed a replacement meal at no charge. During these times not all establishments are going to be firing on all cylinders so we were understanding of that. The customer service provided by the staff and management more than made up for a slight issue with one of our entrees. We even got a complimentary cheese plate between courses because of the wait which we didn't think was even necessary as we were enjoying each others' company and the views so much. The five stars are for the excellent food and customer service. I would highly recommend this establishment and look forward to coming back in the future. read more

When we arrived to an empty restaurant for lunch (minus a wine tasting in a private room) , a young man with a chip on his shoulder gave us a tepid welcome and brought us outside per my request. Since it was chilly, I asked about a dome table in which this little boy snapped "unless you can eat and pay in 45 minutes, you can't have it". Just say the table is reserved smart ass. As we sat and sat and sat without a single greeting for 15 minutes (did I mention empty restaurant ?) we watched who we thought was a florist prepare table scape arrangements, cutting fresh flowers from outside plants and assemble behind the bar. They were very nice and she even brought one to our table. Imagine our shock when she then asked if we were ready to order??? WTF??? We ordered a bottle of sparkling wine, but they were out of stock (too much trouble for management to update a paper disposable menu) Amy instead brought us several little bottles and offered a discount. We passed and we're about to vacate this horror movie...but then said she would upgrade us to a better full bottle option (Champagne) which we accepted and was delicious. Our 35 minute wait for lunch was worth it and expertly prepared (remember the dome table challenge earlier?) However, when the check came, the "upgrade" offered on the Champagne was another cruel joke as her manager insisted we split the difference (these tiny cute towns are full of rookie restaurant managers). We paid the bill and left in bewilderment. If not for the tasty food, this review would have been 1 star. Nothing to see here at this restaurant, move along. read more

We visited this restaurant for its happy hour that runs Monday through Friday from 4-7PM. House wines and appetizers will set you back just $5 each. My wife and I started off with glasses of cabernet sauvignon and an order of mushroom and spinach arancini. The wines were enjoyable, but the 3 small arancini were dry, likely from being deep fried, and totally tasteless. Though our table in the bar area offered a scenic water view, we decided for the second round to move to the Adirondack chairs on the lawn facing the channel with its frequent boat traffic. read more

I'm so disappointed in Stripers. I made a reservation 2 months ago to celebrate our 12th Anniversary. We got all dressed up and showed up at 11:00am to an empty restaurant and worker who told us "Oh we cancelled your reservation, because we don't open until 3pm today. Someone should have called you." Well no one ever called us. So bummed! We ended up walking down to The Boathouse and explained our situation. They squeezed us in and even brought us out deserts on the house. Try them, they are a great restaurant and have earned our business as local residents. read more

Had such a delicious, romantic dinner here over Labor Day weekend. Our server, Catherine (I believe) was so kind, answered all our questions about the menu, and was the perfect amount of attentive while always making sure our drinks were filled. The indoor part has a very calm ambience, and the outside looked like such a nice place to sit. They had a ton of white lawn chairs in the back facing the river, with little tables in between. Unfortunately, it was too chilly/dark for us to sit outside, but our candlelight table did just fine. The food was delicious! I had the crusted tilapia with grilled asparagus and risotto, and my boyfriend had the swordfish special that evening. We felt that the cost of the restaurant was reasonable/in line with the type of restaurant. Their dessert menu looked great as well, but we were just too full. read more

4 of us went there Saturday evening. I realized that they must be very short staffed, so we were considerate. However, we definitely will not go back again. Our meals were terrible, the desserts were not what they claimed to be at all and terrible, the service was terrible, they left our table full of dirty plates, glasses, flatware, during our dessert. Stripers is known to be a high end restaurant, great food, and quite pricey. Us locals don't mind paying for expensive meals BUT! This was our first time here and I had heard good things about it so we decided to have a date night here. I will say the location is beautiful during sunset time as it overlooks the water so I thoroughly enjoyed that. We started with a salad that was full of flavor. For my entree I ordered the salmon and had the option of how to have it cooked and it did end up coming back over cooked but I still enjoyed it. We felt very rushed through our dinner even though there weren't many people dining and we wanted to just sit and enjoy for a few minutes after our meal but once we passed on dessert felt a bit rushed out. The bed-and-breakfast in Kennebunkport had given us to two free drink tickets to come here. The new Summer menu is fantastic with a seafood sampler and great crispy flavorful calamari which my husband and I really enjoyed. I had the halibut with risotto which was perfectly prepared. and my husband had the fish and chips which he throughly enjoyed. We did enjoy the "classiness" of the coffee cups and mimosas but they charge $14 for a small cup of lobster bisque and $6 for four thin slices of avocado! Our group stayed and chatted and then went out back to grab a few photos which the lady working was nice enough to take for us! The plus side to this restaurant is it's very close to a shopping strip with lots of little unique shops to roam in and out of! We enjoyed our experience more having the opportunity to shop after! Unfortunately we cannot review the food because we left after 20 minutes of non- attention. The hostesses were sweet and seated us promptly at our reservation time. Then we were literally ignored. We were invisible. No water. No greeting. No smiles. We were never acknowledged. A server walked by us many times. We understand covid and labor issues and always tipped mightily to acknowledge the staff who wait on us. But this was extraordinarily dismissive and rude. Great location overlooking the harbor with a beautiful dining room. Our server was very sweet and constantly checking in on us and refilling our water glass which I loved. The ambiance was lovely and there were no children so it was very peaceful and quiet - perfect summer evening vibe if you know what I mean? I think as a few other people have noted, the food is really hit or miss. I started with the gazpacho which was excellent - so refreshing and the perfect amount of fresh veggies. For dinner my mother had the catch of day special which I tried and it was great. We had the raspberry mojitos which I really enjoyed to start and then a great Pinot with dinner. I didn't read the reviews beforehand which I usually do otherwise I would have known to avoid the lobster ravioli. But alas, I did not read the review and ordered it. The lobster was kind of bland and the pasta encasing was weird and kind of flavorless. It is one giant ravioli and it fell apart almost immediately upon cutting into it. An impromptu stop last night as our favorite local spot, Bandaloop, was jammed thanks to the busy tourist season and its Dock Square location. We dropped in at 7:00pm on a Saturday night, and were told they could accommodate us if we would dine on the deck. Couldn't have worked out better on a gorgeous July night. The views of the breakwater and Kennebunk Beach are gorgeous. Tom, our server, was pleasant and efficient, on the spot when we wanted something, yet never a pestering presence. We ordered the tuna carpaccio and lobster bisque as starters. The bisque was solidly executed, but nothing exceptional. The carpaccio was excellent, with shaved slices of melon and a touch of remoulade beneath. For entrees we had the roast chicken with fingerling potatoes and grilled summer vegetables, and the grilled duck breast with the same sides. Both were done simply and exceptionally well. This isn't an inexpensive indulgence, but the combination of stunning views, good service and fresh, simple food expertly executed make it an ideal spot for a relaxing summer's dinner al fresco. A Striper is a naval officer! The stripes are on his or her uniform to indicate years of service. Stripers has the perfect location, right on the water, with a fabulous view. The indoor dining room is fairly small, and very charming. The windows open as doors so it's almost like sitting out on the beautiful lawn. Everyone in our group had a different salad and we all added lobster meat to them. Mine was kale, quinoa, and cranberry--a delicious combination! My friend had the regular green salad, and when she finished, she put down her silverware and said, "I think that's the best salad I ever had!" The wine list was good, too, with several labels in each variety by the glass. Adding to the excitement was an extremely elaborate fireworks show next door. read more

1.The view alone is worth checking this place out . ( I suggest Starting with a cocktail on the adirondack chairs over looking the water). Both the outside deck and the dining room have equally good views so it's great even on Rainy day. 2. The service is excellent . Every time the servers are friendly and attentive and extremely accommodating. 3 . The only deduction is the food is a bit inconsistent ( for example one time it was the best chorizo burger I've had the next time it was on the dry side ) but the special ketchups are a must try :-). Overall I would say strippers is a go to when visiting KBPT. ( oh and they ARE open for lunch the hours on here are wrong so give them a call. I was meeting a friend for breakfast "halfway" between us. Kennebunk/port was it. I came to Yelp and put in the search, "outdoor dining, breakfast, Kennebunk" and Stripers came up as one of the few options. We were the first of the day to choose the deck and within an hour, all the tables (8?) were occupied. It was a lovely morning with a light sweater/jacket and warmed up quickly! The tide was out and there was lots if activity to watch. The bar/manager was attentive, but a bit stretched with duties. I could have enjoyed a refill of coffee much sooner. The options were good and several could be adjusted to be gluten free. They offered gf bread instead of an english muffin...a tad sweet for the eggs benedict, but I was grateful for the option! The coffee was delicious and the side of fruit, fresh and tasty. It was just enough, without being too much food. The prices are comparable to diners and other restaurants offering breakfast/brunch. I'd like to go here for dinner one night... this place is a bit of a 'hidden gem' even though you drive right by it often! read more

I think the three star rating it currently has is a little overrated. It seemed like everything was mediocre at best. I got eggplant, fries appetizer. You would think that with a vegetable like eggplant which can be somewhat soft that they would do a nice thin shoestring fry, but they cut them into giant wedges like steak fries, they were, therefore greasy and mushy. My wife got a hamburger for dinner, which came in the form of two very thin patties, not sure what they are trying to do here, maybe emulate a big Mac? Regardless, it was a big fail. The french fries she got with them were dry with no taste whatsoever. Since we were staying at the inn, we thought the continental breakfast would be a great asset each day. Unfortunately, it was also a fail. The coffee was awful! The "Fresh" breads, and muffins were hard and stale. The fresh fruit was obviously about a week old and not fresh in any way. A nice continental breakfast can make or break a vacation stay, in this case unfortunately, it was a break. read more
