If you're traveling be sure to plan and stop in and check it out. It was nice and clean as well they really seemed to pay attention to a lot of small details here.

My training buddy also just moved and I needed another inspiration to help me along. Located in a bright pink building, this box is hard to miss. Walking in, it's a simple and unexpecting gym. Usually people who are intent on starting can email the owner Mike directly from their website, however I personally walked in before one of their WOD [Workout of the Day] sessions and talked to one of the trainers. Tara was great at explaining the process working through the On Ramping sessions [3] before getting going. She's a powerhouse in a small package. Very inspiring. I love that this gym does not uphold the reputation that Crossfit has gathered over the years. True to being one of the first boxes in PA and the country, this box focuses on proper form and safety rather than fiercely competitive pushing and unnecessary injury exposure, which is great. You want to push yourself and keep motivating yourself to get stronger, but keep form instead of doing dumb headstands and not being able to move your neck for a day. [that's happened] Also, it's a fantastic schedule there are several coaches and sessions throughout the day, on Saturday's it's a partner workout at 10:00 am, a totally reasonable time to get there and a lot of encouragement. Great people. I totally recommend.

Panthro is in a class of its own. Offering bootcamp-style…read moreclasses as well as strength training focused classes gives me the variety I want in my fitness. Class experience: Whether strength or bootcamp, every class feels new, thoughtful, and carefully designed to work my body. The trainers are always very helpful in providing modifications to exercises to accommodate injuries. The trainers also are helpful in providing feedback on form and motivation. For me, it feels like I have my own personal trainer for a fraction of the price. Community: Not only are the trainers amazing at Panthro, but the people who go to Panthro are as well. When you go to Panthro, you also join a friendly and encouraging community. Results: My body is noticeably different now from when I started. I am stronger and have better muscle definition--receiving multiple compliments from friends and family. The result I appreciate the most is a significant reduction in injuries and recovery times. Pulling a muscle in my back at home? Nope Fatigued after a vigorous day of yard work or helping someone move? Nada. My main motivation for going to the gym is to care for my body and enable me to live my best life--Panthro certainly provides that value for me.

I spent a year or longer after moving to Pittsburgh attending classes in many different gyms around the city. I've found other establishments that I enjoy and get great work outs in and click with the coaches but no one compares to the service received at Panthro from Chris and his team. Chris is passionate and knowledgeable in what he does with clients. Not only have I seen some of the best results in my body but feel great and know I'm at the strongest I've been. No doubt I'm going into 30 in the best shape of my life. Chris frequently checks in and remembers problem areas or things I have been working on. If I'm having trouble with an area, he is quick to suggest and demonstrate specific stretches and adjust any of the days work out to ensure the best and most effective experience. Seriously cannot recommend this place enough!! I have 2-3 gyms on my list that I love in Pittsburgh but hands down, Panthro is it! It's small, intimate and such a welcoming gym. I've taken classes with Chris and Casey but trust that Chris brings the best coaches to his team!

Strong Coach, Unreliable Business…read more The Good This trainer brings serious expertise to the gym. He has fought in multiple professional fights and has a decade plus of coaching experience, and that depth shows immediately in how he trains. He's direct, doesn't sugarcoat your mistakes, and won't move you to the next technique until you've proved you understand the current one. That kind of seriousness is hard to find and worth acknowledging. If you're looking to actually learn boxing, the instruction itself is excellent. The Bad The business around the training is another story. There are no contracts, no intake paperwork, and no formal documentation of any kind. Payment is collected informally by tapping your card to his phone. At $200/month the price point is fair, but what you actually get for that money has varied since my membership started at the beginning of the year. Scheduling runs through Instagram Stories and DMs. Hours are posted to his story the morning of, and you're expected to DM to confirm availability. The hours posted on the website do not reflect the actual availability. There are no set hours, no booking system, and no formal structure. That puts the burden entirely on the client in a way that isn't typical of most gyms. Early on, the trainer was punctual and the posted hours were reliable. Over time, cancellations and last-minute reschedules became more frequent, and even the hours on the morning story posts stopped being reliable. DMs sometimes have gone unanswered altogether, making it impossible to book time at all. With no formal system in place, there's no mechanism to resolve that when it happens. The Bottom Line The training quality is legitimate, but walk in knowing exactly what the arrangement looks like. There's no formal agreement protecting either party, and the reliability you experience may not be consistent. I don't know whether the scheduling issues are isolated or part of a broader pattern, but the lack of formal structure means you have no recourse if you run into the same problems. Do your due diligence before committing.

The staff is always great and the instructors are motivating, encouraging, helpful, and energetic! Mia Orlando normally instructs the classes that align with my schedule and she is amazing! In the four months or so that I've been attending 3MF classes I've never run into any situation where classmates were jerks, standoffish, or anything else like that! I came here this past Monday for a 6am class, walked in about 10 minutes early, and there was a guy sitting behind their smoothie bar (the instructor for the class). Not only was he staring at his phone for the 10 minutes I waited for people to get to the class, he didn't ask me if I had been there before, didn't ask if I had any injuries he needed to know about, etc. Essentially, I think he was more concerned with sports stats or Instagram than anything else that morning. I would never come back to this location. You need to prepare your trainers to have better customer service/social manners than anything else. The workout was fine, it's the experience that made me not want to return.
