Great store, great owner! This is the best old school used vinyl shop I know of. A great place to browse. I have found many gems there.

ABSOLUTE GEM This is a hidden gem of a record store. It is very close to the corner of San Pablo Avenue and Solano Avenue. It is a carefully curated, discerning selection of wonderful music. The owner, David, is a terrific guy will gladly help you with all of your music needs. He is really knowledgeable. He even sells rock memorabilia, including original 3 day admission tickets to the Woodstock festival in 1969. Check this place out. You won't be disappointed. Easy parking, great neighborhood, and an incredible selection of music. read more

Dope spot! Great selection of rare and hard to find vinyl. He gets some hip-hop gems from time to time and sells them at a fair price. The store carries a lot of jazz, classic rock. soul, world music, etc etc. This is a must visit if you're a collector or just want to check out one of the best stores in Albany. Lots of great eats nearby as well. Dave really knows his stuff and is as solid as them come. Pay him a visit! read more

Friends and I randomly dropped in to this spot on a Saturday & it was worth the stop! This establishment has only been around for a little less than a year but I can see this spot prospering in the near future. I was impressed that it had ALL the Bob Marley vinyl & I like the selection found under reggae and among other music genres. The owners (forgot their names, sorry ) were very friendly-- one was spinning some reggae tracks and the other was in the counter. I don't own a record player, but once I invest in one I will definitely be back! read more

Owner truly loves music and knows how to pull out the obscure gems. Perfect spot to find a unique gift, rediscover your past, or find a new future jam. Wander over here and find a surprise. read more

I visited this record store with my expectations pretty low and boy was I surprised. I have never had such amazing luck in all my years of collecting wax. The day was Sunday and the owner was working, spinning was rad jazz. He was so knowledgeable as well as friendly. I have never been so excited with my findings after sifting through ALL the 45s. Needless to say....I love this place. As if that weren't enough...I left with a ridiculously well priced NuMark mixer as well. I will forever regard this shop as amazing, I can't wait to make it back there again! A+ 10/10!!! read more

Loved the selection. I asked for a gift box and was told they don't sell those to customers but there was a huge stack of them under the counter in plain view. So I had to go elsewhere to search for a box to send these records I was gifting to my brother. I used to work customer service. It doesn't take much to make your clients happy. read more

Wonderful selection, plus super helpful & friendly service from the owner, Dave, when my son and I wandered in during our walk home from his guitar lesson. We live around the corner, so will be back!! read more

Wow, a boutique record shop with original (and second, third and some reissue) pressings in good to excellent condition at decent prices! This place is stocked with a variety of genres and a deeper selection of hard-to-find Afro-Caribbean, Reggae, Soul/Funk/R&B and Jazz than you usually find in these kind of places. Came across a a bunch of TV, film soundtrack and novelty/specialty records as well (Bill Cosby Teaches Kids to Say No! to Drugs is one I distinctly remember seeing). The guy behind the counter is friendly, mellow, and unlike most clerks not a condescending know-it-all. I wandered into a deep conversation about King Tubby and Jamaican Dub and it felt like a good freind was sharing his excitement about a new find. Too bad I live so far away, but the next time I'm visiting friends (and Amoeba and Rasputin Records) in Berkeley I'll definitely take the wrong exit off I80 and stop in, which is how I stumbled upon this little shop in the first place. As an aside, I've been buying records since the 1970s and have often been disappointed with the many new "curated" record shops that have been popping up all over the place lately, which sell overpriced, worn-out discs in moldy sleeves and are staffed by idiot children with superficial music knowledge. This place is So. Much. Better. read more

All our purchased records were free of scratches and played perfectly! My only request is that somehow they can get protective sleeves on many of the damaged covers so that they can last a lil longer. Can't wait to come back to this shop! Great Jazz selection and amazing prices! read more

This a great little vinyl only record store which occasionally has some pre-owned turntables, amps and receivers. The owner is a great guy to do business with! read more

Want to give this place 5 stars, but unpredictable hours make it tough to support. 12:45 on a Sunday and closed (supposed to be open 12-7). Will keep trying and may update the rating... Update: called later and they were open. So...now I know to call beforehand. Upgrade to 4 stars. read more

Great selection and service, prices were very reasonable and all the records we purchased were clean.

A little hidden gem of vinyl. The sales person was helpful and nice. The prices were great and the music choices plenty.

Dave's Strictly Records is a sick store that is cozy and chic like Groove Merchant in SF. There is a lot of roots, reggae, and psychedelic rock at Strictly Vinyl in Albany. Come swing by your local record store and support mom and pop businesses! This place rocks! read more

Very cool spot with great prices. It's a small store, so the selection can't match some of the bigger companies, but I found some great deals here. I also really like the fact that there's a spot where you can test out the records in the store-- a record player in the corner with headphones. Like another reviewer mentioned, the hours are somewhat unpredictable, and that bothers me; when I first visited, the sign says they'd be open at noon, and it was 12:30pm and not yet open. But it's a fun local spot with great customer service and totally worth a visit. read more

This is the best place to get your vinyl, hands down. The selection is very well curated, the owner is knowledgeable and super friendly, and the only danger with visiting is that you will leave with your pockets empty and your record shelves filled with magical gems. I am so excited to have such an amazing record store near-by and hope everyone visits, all the time, and keeps this store around (and the owner's family well-heeled) - forever. Strictly Vinyl is diamond. read more

This is one of the best vinyl stores in the East Bay hands down. Truly a hidden gem and has the best selection, I am conflicted to leave a good review because I don't want more people to buy up all the records... It's always a good day when we stop here for some vinyl shopping. read more

Cool place with a great selection. It's definitely worth checking out if you're in the area.

Attended the grand opening for this new vintage record store in the east bay last night. I was amazed at the well curated selection of classic and hard to find vinyl. A trip back memory lane as I dug through the racks and discovering many of my all time favorites. Even Rolling Stones Sticky Fingers with the zipper! Check it out. read more

'Stopped in today to check the place out, as it's a short walk from home. The records are clean, very reasonably priced and there were many titles you just don't see everyday. If you're in the mood to go digging, make sure you stop here. read more

so we were hoping to open up the world of vinyls and music to our kids, but this isn't the store. We tried on 2 separate occasions, trying to have a fresh outlook. unfortunately, the owner seemed either apathetic or flat out grumpy. . . such a disappointed. read more

Fantastic record store! Well curated selection of new and used vinyl from many different genres. The owner is happy to answer questions and chat about different titles. He's always spinning great tunes that are for sale and you can preview used vinyl at a listening station. During my last visit I overheard another patron mention to the owner that his store is exceedingly tidy for such a compact size. I would agree fully and add that the relatively small size of the inventory is made up for 200% by the quality of selection (new and used). Happy to add this to my short list of awesome, locally owned east bay record stores. read more

Smaller than my living room but this place packs a punch! Great selection, rare and hard-to-find albums at affordable prices. Oh, and the gents at the counter couldn't be nicer and more helpful. read more

My 14 year old son has become a record collector and he loves this place. So much so that he didn't want me write a review for fear that "too many people would find out about it." Prices are fair too. read more
