Keela end up dropping the hair off to my home which I was satisfied with. I called Michele on a Sunday afternoon and scheduled an appt with her for the following Thursday afternoon. Michele was able to schedule me with ease. I arrived to my 12pm appt, she asked me what I wanted, I showed her a picture and she got started on my hair. Let me tell you! Michele started at 12 pm and we was done by 1:48pm!! This was by far the most quickest and efficient weave I have ever received in my life. I did come washed, conditioned and ready to go... I was so happy when we crossed paths, as she specializes in working with Trichotillomania survivors! I suffered from Trich between the ages of 12 years old and 41 years old. Trich is a disorder that causes hair loss and great self-consciousness. To know that she had worked with clients with the same disorder made me feel VERY comfortable working with her. She is a GREAT stylist and person! She is very professional and I would definitely recommend her. She will make you feel comfortable. For her to provide services to this unique group of women is beyond words and very commendable, as far as I am concerned. Her prices are reasonable and well worth it. Prior to my visit, I called and spoke with Stephanie to confirm they accepted walk-ins. I clearly described the style I wanted large knotless boho braids and she quoted me a price of $125. When I asked whether I needed to bring my own curly hair, she informed me that the salon provides curly hair for $75, or I could bring my own. I chose to bring my own curly hair based on that information. I also asked about the price for a wash and blow dry, and she quoted me $45. The only detail not discussed during our call was the braid length, but even considering that, nothing justified the final amount I was charged. When I arrived, I never saw Stephanie, and the stylist who was originally supposed to do my hair, Jackie, never showed up. Instead, two other young stylists worked on my hair. At no point did anyone communicate any change in pricing or mention additional costs. I am a very professional person and did not argue with anyone. I even tipped both stylists $20 each before they finished, and I had no issue doing so. However, when it was time to check out, I was shocked to learn that my total was $405 three times the price I had been quoted. The style was absolutely not worth $405, especially considering I brought my own curly hair. Afterward, I called Stephanie to explain what happened. She denied ever quoting me a price, which I found dismissive, unprofessional, and extremely disappointing. For anyone considering this establishment: * Get your price in writing or confirmed clearly before any service begins. * The environment lacks ambience no music, no atmosphere and the shop is not clean, which was surprising given its long-standing history. * Two different stylists may work on your braids without explanation. * The braiding is very heavy-handed--I am used to it, but others may not be comfortable with that. My husband and daughter had good experiences at the Mack Rd shop, so I figured I'd give this one a try. Big mistake. When I walked in, every employee looked at me but didn't say a single word -- no greeting, no smile, just awkward stares. After standing there for over a minute, someone finally asked if I had an appointment and called someone from the back to get me. Still, not a single smile or "hello." The energy in the shop was cold and uncomfortable from the start. Then something really stuck with me: While I was getting my hair blow-dried, my husband came in to drop something off to me -- and suddenly, the whole energy in the room changed. Every employee greeted him, smiling from ear to ear. Even the braider who had barely spoken to me started talking to him. As soon as he left, all the smiles and fake kindness disappeared, and the same negative energy returned. It was very clear who they chose to be friendly with. As my hair was being washed, I also noticed packets of Jack in the Box mayonnaise sitting on the same tray as the shampoo, brushes, and other products being used on me. This is not only unsanitary and against state board regulations, but it made me wonder: was that actually going into people's hair? Why is food even in the work area? Once in the chair, they asked what size braids I wanted, and I clearly said medium. They ended up doing small braids, without asking or confirming -- and charged me small braid pricing. I also told them I'd been bleaching my hair and asked if they could go easy on the tension. I've been getting braids my whole life, and I've never had anyone braid this tight. Two people were working on me, and I was still there for almost 10 hours. The next day, I had painful bumps all over my scalp -- not just in a few areas, but everywhere. It took 2-3 weeks for them to go away. But the worst part? When I took the braids out, clumps and clumps of hair came out with them. I'm talking full strands from the root. My hair has never fallen out like this. I could feel how much thinner it was -- and I was devastated. I genuinely believe the way they handled my hair caused severe damage, and I'm still dealing with the fallout. This shop should be investigated. Between the poor sanitation, inconsistent and rude customer service, and the physical damage done to my hair, it's clear there's a serious lack of professionalism and accountability. I will be filing a complaint with the state board, and I would absolutely never return or recommend this place to anyone.
