Discovered they're located in Dayton Ky, just a few miles east of Newport. They have a private parking lot- so parking was easy even though the surrounding area was busy. We boarded quickly and the crew members were all very personable. Our tickets included a 3 hour cruise, dinner and open bar. The boat started out by cruising east on the Ohio river and then turned back towards the west (and the fireworks). Our dinner, was as advertised, a mix of bbq, hamburgers, hot dogs and summer salads. There were also cookies and some pastries for dessert. The bar, which was included in the price, was a pleasant surprise. They offered cans and bottles of beer and some fairly good spirits for cocktails. The cruise was a pleasant way to relax and see the sites along the Cincinnati- N. Kentucky Ohio River shore line. We arrived at our spot to watch the fireworks (which were set off from a barge in the river) approximately 30 minutes before start time. It was a very fun way to watch the "fire in the sky". All in all, the food wasn't fancy, the boat decor was a little bit "tired" - however the crew, the sites along the river, the comfy outdoor seating area and the cruise made for a really enjoyable evening. Many of us were over 50, cool, chill and laid back but I understand the sentiment, you never know what type of crowd you're going to get, I guess. The "media" portrays black people as violent, vicious and unassuming. In addition, I know that initial impression of black people is that we are all rowdy but some of us are actually reserved and chill. The food buffet was very good and there was something for every taste. Very fresh salad with two dressing options, rolls, meltingly tender beef in a rich brown gravy, baked chicken, mashed potatoes, farfalle pasta in red sauce, scrumptious grilled vegetables. And decadent creamy cheesecake for dessert. Free coffee and tea, and reasonably priced bar drinks for purchase. Our server, Anna (Onna?) was most attentive and usually within sight if you wanted something. The whole crew were very professional, very polite and respectful and eager to please. Our entertainer was engaging with his ongoing narration of the sights and historical facts along the river interspersed with banjo music. The two hours went by quickly. I put on my hoodie and spent some time out on deck, where you can smoke 'em if you got 'em. I decided it was time for a cocktail so I ordered an Anchors Away which was delicious, nautically blue, and had a definite kick. I was really looking forward to getting the pictured souvenir glass, but the first of two wrinkles took place as I was advised they were out of them due to some recent large parties on the bigger boat. Boo. If you're going to advertise souvenir glasses, order more than enough to keep them in stock. Anna arranged to give me the drink in the larger souvenir vessel, which is pretty, but heavy ceramic and I don't see myself using it at home other than for a decoration. The second wrinkle was our bar tab printed out as though I ordered multiple drinks. My husband didn't look at it and just handed over the debit card...then I saw it and went up to tell them not to run it but it was too late. Somehow they had already realized it was wrong but it took such a long time for them to figure out how to void the transaction, which bothered me. The cruise director had to get involved to fix it. Her name was Tasha and she was very nice and so apologetic about the situation, she comped our drinks for the trouble and boxed up some cheesecake for us to take home. She seemed to agree with me that if the owners had not decided to "go cashless" last year this would never have happened. I asked her to pass on my comment that it is not good to refuse to accept payment in legal tender American money and I feel it was a bad move. For this reason I will never give five stars even if the cruise is flawless. Nonetheless I hope to have the chance to take a cruise on the River Queen later this year.

First it is required to sign a waiver then you check in. There are several options. You can choose between the 2,3,6 or 8.5 mile trek. You can rent tandem kayak, single kayak or canoe. We opted for the tandem kayak $86.00 for the both of us and we did the 6 mile round trip. You pick your life jacket, wait for your name to be called out and you take a bus. From there they will drop you off depending on what mile marker you chose. The staff makes sure to explain where to not go and when you have to be back. Make sure you are back by 7:00 pm. Once you get to the river you pick your paddle and kayak/canoe and off you go. You may hit some rough shallow spots but for the most part, it was smooth sailing. Make sure to pack a small cooler for your drinks. Stay hydrated. We also kayaked to Little Miami Brewing and had a couple of libations. That was fun! Overall the whole experience was great and I had a blast. Coming back the staff was super friendly, helpful and laid back. I would definitely come back. This place rocks.

Fantastic canoe outing in the Little Miami River, facilitated by the Scenic River Canoe Excursion…read moreteam. This was our first time with this company (not first time on this river). The location was easy to find on Round Bottom Road, big grass/field parking lot and well - set up registration area. Getting signed in and life jacket was a breeze. The shuttle to the put-in outside of Miamiville for our "Fletcher" paddle was a quick ride, and our canoe, kayaks and paddles were waiting for us. A staff member was on hand at the river for those needing a push in, but otherwise it was easy to handle on our own. And we were off! There were little rapids on the way for some fun, a few "beaches" for taking a break. It was a Tuesday and we saw people paddling the whole way, but did not feel crowded at all. Saw lots fish, a few turtles and a turkey vulture. We did stop at Little Miami Brewing in Milford for a break which was fun. Return to the car was easy and again staff on hand to take your equipment. Great time and we'll definitely do it again!

Whoever figured this out was a genius...because it is a Godsend. Overall, a very enjoyable trip. The kayaks, though, are a molded sit on and the back rest does get a little uncomfortable...especially for an old dude. The weather was great, the burgers were wonderful (probably because we were so hungry) and the entire crew was great to deal with.

I saw a small sign near the entrance to Griggs advertising boat cruises with Captain Nancy. It was very easy to book with lots of times available. I thought the rates were very reasonable for a 1 hour or 1.5 hour cruise. She charges by the passenger, which makes sense -- more bodies in the boat = more fuel. Captain Nancy confirmed my booking by text almost immediately and provided detailed instructions to find her boat. She arrived on time and was very patient and thorough giving instructions, including "what to do if something happens." Life jackets were optional. The cruise was a mix of a slow scenic tour, observing the houses and wildlife along the river, and a faster-paced thrill ride. Captain Nancy knew just enough little factoids about the river and the local area to keep it fun, but didn't go overboard (ha ha). She played some music for us through her phone, which was optional and she offered to let us pick the tunes. This was a really fun and different experience! I will definitely be back!!

Our puppy loved the ducks (and these were some FRIENDLY and INTERACTIVE ducks...) and we experienced some other cool avian sightings. Not a surprise - but the restrooms were suitably scary and during the first part of our visit, the overcast and gray sky made the cement building feel ripe for a horror movie experience... compete with a scary service truck and a man in stained overalls. (Please note, the gentleman was actually very friendly and engaging and was hard at work - he was not in any way a negative presence). The park is expansive and it was actually really busy for a Thursday evening. The dog park was intriguing but we ran out of time to visit. The play area had something for all ages and was popular with children through teens. Loads of parking and the shelter area was great for a school gathering. Can't wait to visit again!

There are plenty of green spaces and empty fields to play frisbee, flag football, or volleyball. I drove to the dog park area since the park is strict on having the dogs on leash at all times, so I went there. The dog parks for both small and large dogs are enormous! I have never seen that size of a dog park since I was in Colorado--and that state is known for being pet friendly, so their parks and restaurants are 90% pet-friendly. I took my dog to the small dog park as he is small. It was still 4 P.m. and too hot for my dog. There are not a lot of shades in the small dog area compared to the large dog area. I did not stay that long as my dog did not like being grilled under the sun. I checked out the rest of the park by driving around and noticed a vast playground, a marina (although the water has receded), empty fields, a picnic area, and even a camping area! If I had come later in the day when it was not too hot for my dog, I would have enjoyed my stay here. I have seen plenty of residents around here with their kids, birthday party groups, and groups playing frisbee. I can tell that it is a great park to visit. Cool spot ~
