We own a log home near Winchester, VA and hired Log and Timber Worx in 8/21 to work on our home. At…read morethat time we gave them a 25% deposit to put us on their schedule. 6 months later we paid another 25% as per agreement. In 8/22 they arrived to soft wash the house. When they returned a month later to stain, too much time had elapsed for the soft wash to be effective. At no time prior to this had there been any discussion of stain brands or types, and no colors had been tested on the logs. They brought some random stains, expecting us to choose one, with the intention of staining the house that day. None of them were satisfactory. Due to an issue with the condition of some of the logs on the front of the house, we requested that the owner make a site visit to discuss. Different options were considered and the owner recommended applying stain year after year until the problem was effectively covered up. He then informed us that he had other clients to serve and the next time he came it would be to apply stain. We began to doubt the company's experience and expertise working on log homes and decided not to move forward. After requesting a refund, they refused to do so. We had spent $4,650 for a log wash and 2 site visits to discuss stain colors. Work still left to be done was treat and plug bee holes in the logs, paint house trim (doors, windows, and fascia boards), and stain the logs. All for the balance of $4,650. This is a breakdown of costs according to the owner. Log wash 5hrs.x3 crew members, initial stain date 4hrs.x5 crew members, visit to discuss stain and media blasting 3.5 hrs.x1 crew member, admin. time 5-10hrs.x1 crew member, 39.5-44.5 total man hours. He also stated this did not include the acquisition of materials, meaning we actually owed them $5,000-$5,500. We offered to pay $1,500 for the log wash, but felt the other charges were the cost of doing business and were not applicable.

5/5 Stars -- Exceptional Craftsmanship and Service! I…read morerecently hired Dzevad Zulic with Harrisonburg Handyman Maintenance, and I could not be more pleased with the experience. From start to finish, his communication was top-notch--he kept me fully informed every step of the way and arrived right on time. He tackled a particularly tricky job for me: mounting a shower seat securely onto a tile wall. Working with tile requires real precision and skill to avoid cracking or improper anchoring, and Dzevad did an exceptionally good job. The seat is rock-solid, neatly sealed, and installed perfectly. If you need a reliable, highly skilled handyman in the Harrisonburg area, I cannot recommend Dzevad enough!

In June 2020 we contracted with Blue Ridge Chimney Services to reinstall a wood-burning fireplace…read moreinsert and chimney liner at our home in Winchester. The work was necessary because of the shoddy and, frankly, dangerous installation and chimney work that had been done by 1Elite Chimney LLC, a local chimney service that sold us the unit and was completely unresponsive to our repeated calls for follow-up service because they did not complete the job, the stove was not working properly and the chimney cap they had installed blew off our roof during a minor windstorm. We decided to go with Blue Ridge Chimney after a confidence-inspiring visit by Steven Slabaugh, the technician they sent at our request to evaluate the situation. On the morning of June 29, 2020, two young men from Blue Ridge Chimney, Chris Guy Jr. and Chris Smith, drove here from Harrisonburg and arrived a little after 9 am. After a quick review of our situation, they went to work. They were here until after 8 pm, working the entire time with only a short break for lunch. Their concern for our situation was evident, as was their professionalism, energy and competence. They were also friendly and engaging, and at each stage of the process they explained the problems and the work that needed to be done to fix them. I waited 9 months to write this review because the work was done in June 2020, and we did not begin using the stove and chimney until November 2020. We used it consistently until last week (March 12). The heating season is over now and the insert worked perfectly. We are very happy in general with all the dealings we have had with Blue Ridge Chimney Services, and in particular with the competent work of Chris Guy Jr. and Chris Smith. We intend to use Blue Ridge Chimney for all our future stove and chimney related work.

Five STARS for Yury!!!…read more I needed a large section of roof replaced. Problem was, there were 5 huge hot-water solar panels in the way. I got four estimates. Yury Ubonikh at Professional Remodeling, LLC, was the fastest in & the lowest by far. Then when I finally figured out how to work under the solar panel without moving them, I so notified all the roofers. Yury quickly sent a revised bid hundreds of dollars less than his original bid. Naturally, he got the job. He was ready to do it in just a couple of days, but held off with no complaint when I suggested waiting a few days for better weather. He showed up exactly when he said he would. He really knew what he was doing, even how to install the special adhesive ice & water shield I wanted. He patiently removed & replaced the brackets supporting the solar panels multiple times as each step of the roofing process required. He finished the job quickly in two consecutive days. He did a great job, including cleaning up, at a great price. I highly recommend him.
