So far I've taken (3) 1.0 classes and I can tell you each class has been so different. Each instructor has been wonderful. If you're not a social person and you're nervous to try a group exercise class, don't worry. It's a laid back vibe, everyone is mostly focused on the workout, and there's no judgement or competitiveness. There are only a dozen reformers, which is good if you're new. The instructors are really good at watching for correct form and will help you to make sure you're getting the most out of each movement. Challenging, but extremely doable. You truly work out your whole body. You will walk out feeling so strong and good about yourself after class. This is my first time trying reformer Pilates so I cannot compare this place to another studio, thus the 4 stars.

She is a 7 year old with ADHD and this was something she looked forward to every week. I watched her each week thrive there. I agree there should be consequences and am happy for her to sit out of class when asked. This was her first time and they emailed me and told me she was no longer welcome. They wouldn't speak to me over the phone about it. My daughter is now going to internalize their rejection with zero warnings. These are children here. I would understand if monthly she was asked to sit out but this is not the case. We were completely blindsided. Please do not use this business.

I've only been coming here for a few weeks at this point, but as a complete beginner I couldn't be having a better time. The website advertises "no egos" which is on point. The moment I walked through the door for the first time, one of the students comes over to say hi and introduce himself because he hasn't seen me before. Everyone I've worked with so far has been really cool and the more experienced guys will take things slow and easy and even let me pull off moves on them so I can get the feel for how it's supposed to work. Don't get me wrong, every class is a challenge both physically and mentally - but it's the kind of environment where you feel comfortable really pushing yourself. The great culture starts at the top with Owner/Professor Danny Morera and Co-Owner (slash Danny's wife) Angela. Just great people - knowledgeable, welcoming, helpful, friendly, and fun. There's always a lot of smiles and laughs, but when it's instruction time, they're appropriately serious and focused on making sure people learn the techniques safely and properly. If you're interested in learning jiu-jitsu, the advice I got from some experienced friends was to opt for a school led by an IBJJF (International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation) certified black belt, and registered with the IBJJF (you can look people and schools up on their website). There are a lot of places that would be happy to teach you "jiu-jitsu", but if you're going to put in the time and spend the money you probably want to do it right.

Let me begin by saying that, all things considered, exercise isn't my passion. It's not even my…read morepast-time. It's a very, very distant relative that, up until 2 months ago, I avoided as often as possible, because it was kind of confusing and exhausting. And intimidating. And because I'm sort of lazy. Would I rather be watching Netflix? Yes. Does a sedentary lifestyle usually lead to congestive heart disease and early mortality? Yes. Am I 28 and being dramatic? Also, yes. Always, yes. But all jokes aside, it didn't feel good to be out of shape - both physically as well as mentally. Being stuck indoors for 2 years during Covid didn't do me any favors. Physically, I obviously became out of shape, but mentally, I forgot what the point of being in shape was. Feeling comfortable in my own body and feeling proud of what my body is capable of physically doing on a regular basis is an underrated way of being. I started my fitness journey 2 months ago, and as much as I do love to complain during my sessions, I have loved the process. Because unlike when I attended a gym or intermittent classes, working consistently with the trainers at this gym has helped me transform my thoughts and beliefs around exercising and ways to live a healthier lifestyle. To be clear, I still drink and eat out at restaurants way too often. But apart from physical achievements, I have seen and felt a noticeable difference in my energy levels and attitude during my day-to-day. Moving around in the world and existing in a personal and professional capacity has been easier and lighter and gentler. I feel so much more comfortable in my own skin and almost energized by my desire for more. I've felt incredibly supported, motivated, and committed to this process daily by Derek, Cara, Cam, and Dana. I still don't like exercising.I would definitely still rather be watching Netflix. But the things worth having in life are rarely easy to achieve (or so I'm learning). Exercising is still uncomfortable and a little confusing and exhausting. But having amazing humans next to you, cheering you on, and explaining how the whole process works and why? That makes it easier, and that makes it better. And that makes it worth it. I'm rather confident that I couldn't do this process on my own. And I'm rather-rather confident that now, knowing these trainers, I wouldn't want to. Whatever excuses you're making that are steering you away from this process - stop. Just try it. If you don't like it, you don't have to continue. But you have to at least try. Invest in yourself. You deserve it.

She was great and told me who to ask for when I arrived for class and they would help set up a class the Saturday. I will say everyone was great administratively. BUT. The class was AMAZiNG. I took an 11 o'clock Saturday class with Andrew(not sure of the name because it was a few weeks ago). I've been boxing for a while and he was great. He helped and supported myself and nephew (his first boxing class) so well. And his energy and attention was perfect. He showed a regressing for every exercise he proposed in case you couldn't perform what he was demonstrating. I hope I got his name right because he was amazing! Check out Saturday at 11 AM class. The trainers are attentive and focus on form and although there are a few people at a time in each session, they personalize the workouts for each individual. I saw Jenna during my sessions and always left feeling great (and sore the next day), she is awesome! The space is just the right size and the atmosphere is comfortable to work out in. The membership options here are definitely worth the value and I highly recommend anyone in the area to check it out.

And honestly, I was very successful at losing weight and getting in shape for the first few months. I continued with the program, signing up for the full year with the hope of finally losing about 45 pounds. As I stuck with it, the trainers paid less attention. Elvin (who I always enjoyed working with and trusted) left the Andover location. The new trainers didn't know me and didn't pay much attention to form, only about pushing harder. The long and the short of it is, after less than a year I ended up with back surgery and have not been able to exercise since. It's been a year since my surgery and there has been no follow up from Get In Shape. I told them about my injury - even before I knew how bad it was. They just told me to stretch more (now I know that was the worst thing I could have done!) I've called several times to extend my membership (since my doctor didn't approve me for full exercise), back when I was hopeful that my injury wasn't permanent. They never returned my calls. When I sent a letter asking for them to reimburse me the remaining time, they told me that I hadn't contacted them early enough so it's too late. I didn't contact them because I was in rehab from back surgery! Not a single call (how's that for accountability?) and absolutely no recognition that the injury I suffered most likely was caused by trainers who didn't pay attention to form. This gym is dangerous to anyone who has to be careful not to injure herself. Management cares only about bringing in new members and not about caring about the clients who stick around longer than 12 weeks. I couldn't be more disappointed.
