One of the better aspects is the gym culture. There are very few performative lifters who treat the floor like a scene from Brokeback Mountain, and "invisible lat syndrome" is noticeably less common here than at a lot of other gyms. The no photograph/filming rule is one of the best things about this place, it keeps the atmosphere focused on actual training instead of content creation. That alone makes the experience more pleasant. A few operational issues stand out and could be improved: * Weight plates are frequently left in random order with no consistent system. This could be fixed a few ways: (1) label each plate storage spot with the correct weight, (2) have staff periodically straighten the plates instead of spending so much time talking, and (3) more actively encourage members to re-rack properly after themselves. * There need to be more antibacterial wipe dispensers placed throughout the gym so they're actually convenient to reach. * The machines would work better for circuit training if they were reorganized by body part rather than by brand or machine type. * Safety pull cords should be installed in the saunas, red light rooms, and cold plunge areas. * The locker rooms could use a service phone connected to the front desk for times when lockers jam or clothing/access issues come up. * Increasing the number of dumbbells would help create a better dumbbell-to-bench ratio and reduce waiting. Overall it's a good gym with friendly staff, a less pretentious atmosphere than many alternatives, and a welcome no-filming policy. Addressing the organization, cleaning, safety, and equipment-quantity points would make it noticeably better.

During that time, I have consistently supported the company ... not only through my membership, but also by supporting Mountainside Fitness during its legal challenges in 2020, participating in the company's 25th anniversary celebration video, and providing lunches and other gifts of appreciation for staff members over the years. Because of that history, it is extremely disappointing to write this review. This morning, I was cooling down and stretching in the aerobics room with my three daughters when an employee, Tanna Wick, entered the room, flipped on the lights, told us we could not be in there, and indicated that my children needed to be in childcare. She specifically pointed toward my youngest daughter. I responded that she was 12 years old. Tanna appeared surprised and questioned her age before leaving the room without an apology or further explanation. To be clear, I understand the need to verify a child's age. My youngest daughter has only recently become eligible to be on the workout floor after turning 12, and staff members have verified her age several times before. The issue was never the verification itself. The issue was the manner in which it was handled. There were numerous professional and courteous ways to ask a child's age. Instead, we were immediately told we could not be there and that my daughter needed to be in childcare. The interaction felt presumptive, dismissive, and unnecessarily rude. After our workout, I asked for Tanna's name and attempted to discuss the situation with her directly. Rather than acknowledging my concerns, she denied making the statements and taking the actions that all four of us had just witnessed moments prior. Manager Diego also defended her actions before reviewing any available camera footage or audio, stating that she was simply verifying my daughter's age. His dismissive behavior, especially when he has also verified my daughter's age multiple times previously, was completely unacceptable. Again, verifying age was never the issue. The issue was the tone, assumptions, and lack of professionalism in the interaction. I would also encourage Mountainside Fitness to consider implementing a system that clearly identifies youth members who are old enough to be on the workout floor. Whether that is a wristband, tag, button, membership designation, or another visual indicator, it would prevent staff from repeatedly interrupting workouts to verify ages and help avoid situations like this in the future. As a long-time member, I was disappointed by both the interaction and the handling of my concerns afterward. This experience did not reflect the level of professionalism and customer service I have come to expect from Mountainside Fitness. I hope this feedback is used as an opportunity for additional customer service and communication training. Families should feel welcomed and respected, especially when they are encouraging their children and teens to develop healthy fitness habits.

We spent a few hours here, but truthfully could have stayed all day! A couple of climbing newbies tagged along with us, and the Alta team did a great job with orientation. We were also able to quickly get belay certified, which unlocked the entirety of the gym! I was so blown away by how many routes they had available - we barely scratched the surface. The auto-belay kid-friendly area was so cool as well  - I love that they're going out of their way to make climbing fun and accessible for folks of all ages. My cousin and younger sister really enjoyed the theming - they said they felt like superheroes scaling a building to save someone! Everything was clean and well-maintained, and since we visited at a slower time, we had our choice of routes the entire time! I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in the area, and I highly recommend Alta to new and experienced climbers alike!

There is a lot of competition out there, if you charge a lot, you should offer a lot more. Sometimes we have to get creative with weights if everyone in your group uses the same amount as you. The carpet is dirty. I hated doing exercises that brought me to the ground because it may get vacuumed but needs shampooing with all the feet and sweat. Grosses me out honestly. No social media presence. I do think if you advertised classes more then you'd have more interest. Advertising a word of the week felt silly rather than inspiring. The app never had the right coaches listed. Not a big deal but this was over 50% of the time where the actual coach was not the one listed. I hate the stretch routine. Why stretch my legs for 4 weeks when you do arms, core, cardio, etc. Most of the time, no one actually did what was written. I saw a lot of awful form but the stations go so fast, not really an opportunity to correct it. Depending on your group, people didn't interact with each other much so I kept to myself. I also would've liked more variety than just arms and legs, upper lower or push pull kind of rotations.
