I work in the Fitness space and recently moved to Tulsa. I…read morelike checking out different gyms and studios and have a good base to compare from. Why four stars and not 5 ? Because Tulsa has a log of gym options and Genesis promotes itself as a Luxury gyms. This might of been true when it first opened but is no longer so. Is not that they lack amenities but the gym is starting to look a bit run down for a luxury gym and they try to do too many things and some of them are not well done. Lots of equipment that is starting to show wear and Luxury gyms usually replace the equipment if they can't fix it up to a high standard. More is not better a prime example of that is their Functional fitness room, it's disorganized, dirty lots of equipment there that just doesn't make sense or fit their market share Accessories, totes and stuff thrown all over the gym makes it look disorganize and is unnecessary. Now the good: Genesis is quiet space, members are polite and everyone stays to themselves. They offer a packed class schedule and Personal training have a decent selection of Free weights, Machines and Cardio equipment. Their market is for the Master bodybuilder, seniors, parents that need childcare that want to keep to themselves and just want to get their work in. Well appointed Locker rooms with showers are well kept. Shot out to the new guy at the front desk is polite, eager to learn and grow and is hard to find employees now in days. My hat of to the guy who cleans in the morning, he's always hard work moving fast and running all over the gym getting the job done. Everyone I interacted with was polite and nice.

I've had many disappointing experiences and Genesis Midtown, and am finally writing a review. I am…read moreat the gym daily. The facility is poorly maintained, with dirty broken equipment, and unsanitary locker rooms. The staff overall is helpful, other than one front desk guy who lacks any customer service skills. There are never any towels available for the workout areas or the locker rooms. The steam room is rarely cleaned, has debris on the floor, and either doesn't work or scalds your skin. Additionally, this is the second year in a row where the AC doesn't work, making it extremely uncomfortable to workout. I would not recommend this gym to anyone looking for a comfortable, clean, and well-maintained workout environment. Spend your hard earned money elsewhere.

I easily signed up on the app purchased one class to try and showed up. The class room is cozy and tranquil. The room heated isn't overwhelming and they provide mats, bolsters, and blankets to utilize. They have wipes and sprays available to clean at the end as well. From the start of class to the end it was cohesive and inviting...as it's my first time doing yoga it was amazing! I defiantly plan to join and attend more classes.

It took the forecast of an eminent blizzard for me to gain the courage to try hot yoga. My experience was like a Savage Garden song. I walked in and was warmly greeted by a well-run check in system. Once I filled out my paperwork, I was given a key-card tag to swipe when I attend classes in the future - something I have never seen at a yoga studio. Complimentary mats are available for use. There is a retail side where you can purchase some really cool yoga clothes, mats, etc. Cubbies are available to stuff purses and shoes in before entering the yoga room. It is beautiful, inspiring and comfortable with red brick walls and only a few mirrors. An infrared heating system kept me warm, never hot. The music was recognizable and kept the pace of poses while the peaceful and encouraging instructor guided us. The strength and sweat class was challenging, but I could see any level of yogi coming in and feeling good with the modification options which were explained. Yes, I did sweat; no, it wasn't uncomfortably profuse. After the class I felt so good I looked up the benefits of hot yoga and found them: Detoxifies the body Increases circulation Strengthens the cardiovascular system Improves skin appearance Strengthens the immune system Reduces pain and cellulite Here's to courage, heat and Savage Garden-like love.

I'd grown to understand exercise as the necessary punishment for a lifestyle high in carbohydrates (aka as a young adult I was raised on a diet of overpriced bootcamps), and the greatest discovery at Total Pilates was that exercise could (should?) actually function therapeutically. Did you know you could "look forward" to "working out"? Through migraines and aches and pains and ups and downs this place has kept me from going unhinged. Lisa (owner) has assembled a gifted team. Given my sensibility I work primarily with Jeanie, who was originally described to me as an architect of pain but is actually more like a shaman, or a highly skilled orthopedic specialist? Have you ever taken an exercise class from a radio personality? Now that Pilates is my singular personality trait I've visited studios on both coasts. We are spoiled to have access to this team and the space. I insist on bringing people here when they visit town.
