Overall, it's been helpful though for my joint pain, so I continue to forge on and try to put the blinders on and relax for the quick 50 minute classes.

I normally don't do reviews but I just had the worst experience at Snap fitness on Carmel from a person who appeared to be the manager. I had gone earlier in the week and had to manually check in. I went this morning and was greeted by the same man who opened the door. I was about to tell him my name and he said I know you. I lose money on your membership. I get access to snap fitness through Presbyterian health plan. When I went to the front desk, he proceeded to ask me why don't you come more often. I lose money on your membership in a very degrading voice and demeanor. He continued to repeat saying I lose money on your membership and was extremely frustrated by me even being there. I did nothing to provoke this man to speak to me in the manner in which he did or question why I don't go as often as he thinks I should. I walked away to the bathroom to compose myself and came back out and asked him how does he think it's okay to talk to a member the way that he spoke to me . I told him it was none of his business on the frequency of me going to the gym and I do not need to explain to him why or why not. I go there to improve my overall well-being and health. Him coming to me in a very aggressive manner saying that he loses money on my membership and why don't I come was completely out of line and unprofessional. I moved to ABQ during Covid and I joined the gym but could not get into the mental space required to wear a mask doing a workout. Then I procrastinated... I thought I would go during the night since it's open 24/7 but that did not happen. I have since left this gym - but I do want to impart the following: 1. The staff was very efficient and welcoming. 2. The process to sign up was easy. Everything came to me via email and electronic signature. 3. The facilities are very clean. 4. There is plenty of parking. 5. Everything was in working order. 6. As mentioned, you can access the gym with your key card at any time. 7. They have soft cloths and cleaning fluid (non-toxic) that you can use to clean equipment as you move from cardio equipment and weight machines. I loved this because everything was clean and yet there was no paper towel waste either. The only drawback for me, and partially why I did not go more often, was due to the fact that I just felt like I stood out as an older adult in the place. I like to be more anonymous. This gym is on the small side and it is pretty obvious who is working out. There also is not a huge amount of cardio equipment - but then again, this gym is rarely crowded. I did like that too. I would go back again, and I do recommend this gym quite highly.

I should also preface this with the admission that I enjoyed an introduction to Pilates from a friend/associate/trainer who offered to show me the ropes, springs and stands of the art free of charge. I didn't take a class and although the personal training session wasn't leveraged on an agreement to review the venue, I can't claim this was a genuine appointment with the business. Like many of you, I was genuinely curious about Pilates. Years of television commercials offered virtually no clue into the underworld of this fascinating practice, and once I was there, in a facility equipped with the very best, I totally got it. Pilates is the yin in my aging, overburdened yang. I'm about to turn 40, about to hit that Over the Hill mark, and that means I hurt, mysteriously, in places that never hurt before. As we age, we realize that stretching and activating those muscle groups that we ignored for 40 years suddenly matters. Momentum Studio is an excessively clean, dynamic facility decked out with machines that are built to bend you sideways, upwards and out. The contraptions in this place, man, they're genius inventions of wood and coil, pulley and spoke, the kind of thing your nutty neighbor developed in his garage, and they work wonders. One hour of work in here will realign your spine and reset your clock to Zen. Next visit, I'm investigating Barre. Can't wait.

I've been looking for a studio or some place to go that is more supportive than where I've been taking physical therapy (which I believe is actually making my joint injury worse as they have a specific goal in mind and push, push, push to get to it in the prescribed amount of appointments), and I've found it!
