I…read morehave been a member of weight-training gyms for 45 years, in multiple states from coast-to-coast, and continue to maintain memberships at other health clubs. My point- I am not a rookie-- my experience certainly lends creditability to my comments! First, the staff at Gold's has always been courteous, and they have great clientele. And the gym is always open as scheduled, even during very inclement weather. I appreciate that dedication! I often train twice a day- cardio at lunch, weight training in the evenings. For nearly a year now, I have been using one of the stationary bikes in the cycling room for cardio at lunch when inclement weather prevents cycling outdoors. And I am currently training for a 100 mile, Century ride, so I need the miles! I am almost always alone, and leave the bike and room as found (or better!). One day, however, the room is locked, and I am told I can no longer use these bikes. I ask to see the manager. He finally finds the time to talk with me, and states "I have decided today that we are going to charge $29.99 a month to use bikes in that room." This is in addition to the monthly dues. I then ask if everyone who is in the cycling classes does so. He states that they all pay the fee. He seemed very surprised when I agreed to pay the additional monthly fee, even though I would not attend the classes--- as long as they could unlock the room when I arrived. Over the course of the year, this usage averages about 1-2 days a week- some weeks zero, others 3-5. I thought the charge was extreme- given that I may go several weeks without needing to ride indoors, but again, the convenience and lack of other options left me little choice. However- upon further investigation, I could not find one single member who joins the cycling class that pays the fee! There may be some who pay- but I know a fair amount of the regular clientele, and each of these regulars were very puzzled by the thought of an extra fee. I mentioned this to the manager. I am now waiting for the other shoe to drop.........and get my refund. This could be the final Jeopardy question, the Daily Double! (inside joke). Thanks, happy lifting, Paul M

Nothing fancy here which is a valued quality I look for in a gym. I go to to a gym to workout not to socialize, flirt or look at myself in the mirror all day. The Lords gym is by far the perfect place to do this. This gym has all the free weights, machines and cardio equipment you need to get the job done. They even have a cardio room with a punching bag.

It's just an old building. People are extremely kind there. I'm a stay at home mom that brings 3 kids so I can be healthy and that only cost me around $85/month. For the way they take care of my kids it's worth every penny AND they even offer to watch your kids if you want to go on a date with your spouse. That's above and beyond and that's more welcoming than anything I can think of. That's very special to me. They offer programs for the kids as young as 6 months. I have been at the pool the last 3 weekends (4 Xs total) this Summer and it is truly 5 stars! The check in is super easy. I paid $5 each time (a discount for C.Hill) residents as well as your guest. They do take cash or card which is convenient. The line is never long, really non existent most of the time. Parking is a breeze especially if you get there for open swim which begins at 12 noon. The majority of the lounge chairs are shaded and you don't have to worry about anyone taking/moving your belongings as you enjoy the water. The lazy river is extremely clean and well kept and the floaties are in abundance and FREE! Everyone is respectful in the pool! At any given time there can be newborn babies to the seniors and every age in between so being courteous is just as important as having fun! The music is great too! They play EVERYTHING including Spanish songs on Cedar Hill Tunes. There is one lazy river, one slide which is so much fun and never a long line, as well as a larger pool that is wheelchair assessable too. It was in this pool that my BF taught me to swim this Summer so the Cedar Hill Lagoon will forever be memorable to me! They also have about 7 cabanas that you can rent out for your private event. The bathrooms have great air flow and are pretty well kept with no trash on the ground an I definitely appreciated the cleanliness. They also have showers too. The lifeguards are also professional and they appear to have fun too. There is food available if you get hungry. A CH police officer does make his/her round at the pool too so it definitely makes you feel safe an at ease. I hope the Lagoon continues to be a fun, clean, memorable place for my future summers!

I recommend the Stretch Zone in Waxahachie to everyone! I have bulging discs in my neck. The numbness in my hands got so painful at night, I couldn't sleep. I went to the stretch zone because I was desperate. After the first session, I slept better. After several weeks of consistency, I now sleep all night with no pain. Brittni, Chris and Andrew are all knowledgeable professionals with an understanding of the muscles in the body. They will listen to you and answer your questions and focus on what you need. You get 8 workout sessions (each 1 hour long), meal plan and home workouts for $125. In this particular program you could choose between a 5am or 7pm session on Tuesday's and Thursday's. The evening option is great for me as I cannot do mornings - at all - ever - nope. On my first day I wanted to walk out during the warm up - it was so hard. Six laps around the building and 10 bur-pees in between each lap. The other boot camp attendees help cheer you on and support you. We did some partner work and individual stuff and always hit abs. Every time I am satisfied that I received a great workout, super sweaty and sore as all get out the next day. If I can end up with half the body that trainer/owner, Britney, does I will be over the moon. I cannot wait until her next 21 day challenge with a PM option. Highly recommend - she also does $15 drop in's on most classes if you call/text her ahead of time and payment is easy because she takes PayPal. Call her today! :D

I was looking for something different that would break up my own gym routine. I found some places but the clients looked like young 20 somethings or your ultra athletes. I'm your average 40 something looking for like minded people who want to spin and don't care about who in a class is spinning faster or working harder. There is no need to be competitive if I just want to mix up my workout routine and lose weight. If that is what you like then you may not want to visit this place. I was searching Groupon to see what was around. Cyclone had just opened. Their grand opening was Jan 2015. This place had a special of 2 classes for $24. This may still be on Groupon. Cyclone is owned and operated by a married minority couple who love fitness. They both have a long list of fitness accomplishments. They are extremely nice and want you to succeed in your weight loss or fitness goals. They are great motivators and coaches. Cyclone has 15 bikes manufactured by a company called EVo. These bike can SWAY like real bikes. This helps work the core more. The handle bars are large enough to allow for many different hand positions. You can adjust everything of the bike. The handlebar distance to you is adjustable along with the seat height. You can adjust the height of the handle bars. You can move the seat itself forward and back. The bike can hold 2 water bottles and a cell phone. It has a display that works with heartrate monitor straps. It also displays the time of the workout and your cadence (RPM), calories burned and distance. It also has a light to help see it when the room lights are dimmed. The pedals have SPD on one side and regular shoe straps on the other. There is a red knob you turn left or right to add or decrease resistance. Cyclone does not have a dressing room or showers. There are 2 restrooms and they provide sweat towels. They also have a water fountain incase you forget to fill up your bottle. I've been going for about 6 weeks now and am not bored. The music is upbeat and they take music requests. You are up and out of the saddle lots. They also involve your upper body in the workouts. It could be doing punches while standing and pedaling, bending the upper body down to the handle bars and up or bringing the shoulders to the opposite handlebar. I'm sure the combination is endless and I would never be bored. Just recently they had 80's music week which brought back so many fun memories. The other clients so far, are 30 to 40 somethings. These are your average people just looking to get in shape. Everyone is nice and willing to chat with you. You don't get the sense there is a competition between you and your riding neighbor. I love this environment and happy I stumbled on it.
