At Gold's Gym, I meandered from machine to machine, half-heartedly gave the treadmill a go and looked over at the free weights section like it was the boss fight that I wasn't leveled up enough to attempt. I would lose a pound here and there but it was all just so.. boring. Alio doesn't do boring. Every day there's a new circuit that works a different set of muscles than the previous day. Add in the music and lighting and Alio makes Gold's look like the Wal-Mart of gyms. Danny and Sam are amazing trainers. Don't know what the heck a sumo squat pulse is? They're there to demonstrate and watch your form to prevent tweaks. Not sure what weight you should use for a single arm kettlebell swing? They're there to help you figure out what'll work for you. On the other end, if you're someone who loves a challenge, they are ready (and willing!) to make a circuit harder for you like adding in extra cardio and/or going up on the weights/reps. The best part of Alio Fitness Club? Results! I've personally witnessed many people get in shape here ranging from people whose goal was weight loss to others who put on serious muscle, it's always inspiring. There's a lot of interaction between trainers and members, music is great, which makes the workout fun but at the same time challenging too. Then, I asked for a refund and not only did they refuse, but they threatened to charge me $150 extra for a "cancellation fee." I had to change my account number, get a new debit card, AND dispute the transaction! They are fraudsters and engage in terrible business practices & treat potential clients horribly.

I've tried warehouse gyms, big box gyms, powerlifting gyms, bodybuilding gyms, you name it. This gym is great for a lot of reasons and could also be improved in a few ways. It's not my regular gym- I drop in a few times a year and pay for the week pass. I've never had an issue doing this or being charged extra from the week pass. Cons: locker rooms need better upkeep, STRONG turf smell, music too loud occasionally (like so loud I can't hear my own music in my earbuds), staff is hard to track down, some rude staff (literally just 1 girl but the rest of the staff has been nothing but super friendly and nice so I'm willing to write it off as a bad day for her). Pros: lighting is awesome, black walls and murals are awesome, they have posing rooms if you're into bodybuilding, TONS of free weights, powerlifting plates, cable towers, squat racks, benches, and varying machines. Extra equipment (like mats, med balls, kbs, etc.) are lacking, but they have enough to do what you need to do. Great gym if you're into powerlifting or bodybuilding especially. They have a supplement store and you can get snacks, shakes, drinks, etc. Prices are also really good; you could easily spend the same amount on a commercial gym that has 2 squat racks and 200 treadmills. The community there is SO nice as well. The biggest pro is that they're not insanely busy like most gyms I've gone to. I can always find a squat rack or cable tower and have never had to wait. In short, it's a gym worth trying. If it's not your thing, it's not your thing, but it's definitely one of the better gyms I've been to and I'll be coming back every year when I'm in town. P.S. For what it's worth, I've tried most of the gyms in SA and I prefer M.O. by a mile.

I'm no athlete, yet Kenny manages to work with my limited capabilities to get me stronger and more flexible. After little more than 8 weeks (despite me ignoring diet or aerobic exercise discipline), I managed to lose over 4% body fat working out three times a week with Kenny! I also lost over 2 inches on my hips-- and I'm 57! Now I am encouraged to keep going, to lose the weight I've gained since menopause, and to keep getting stronger and get my full range of motion back. With Kenny's training and expertise I get to benefit from diet recommendations (gum had carbs, who knew?) and yes, even aerobic exercise. I'm going to try jump roping with one that has a counter in the handle. I'm looking forward to being leaner and fitter in 2019.

I love the small class size and while the classes are tough, my body feels better, is definitely toning up and I sleep better too. I love the individual attention the small group classes allow and how they focus on different muscle groups each day. Every trainer I've worked with leading the classes has been excellent....encouraging and pushing me to increase my strength but modifying exercises when needed to avoid injury. After carefully reading this waiver I scratched out two paragraphs. One paragraph attempted to remove any liability resulting from negligence on the part of JKFitness. The second waived my rights associated with Texas consumer law. LOL! I have read some waivers but this one was so bad it was comical. An employee got on the phone with the owner and returned with instructions to decline me as a customer and I was also informed I would not receive a full refund. The owner would contact me to discuss. (To the credit of the employees at JKFITNESS they seemed like nice people and also sympathetic to my situation.) After over 24 hours, I have still not received any further contact from JKFitness. The decision to refuse my patronage as a customer and not refund a pre-payment is flat out rude, petty and manipulative. I never raised my voice to any of the staff and calmly left expecting to debate this with the owner. Further delaying this communication is a smelly cherry on top of this whole s*** sandwich. Mind, Body, & Mean Girls…read more I left this studio feeling as though I had been "mean-girled" out of returning, and that is not how anyone should be made to feel in a fitness environment. I have been practicing Pilates since 2019. I don't pretend to be an expert, but I do know my body and its capabilities and limitations after having played competitive tennis for over 30 years. I've accumulated several injuries over the years, so I sometimes need reasonable adjustments or alternative movements. Instead of approaching those needs with professionalism, curiosity, or compassion, the owner made me feel as though other patrons or instructors had been taking issue with my modifications, and "reporting" them. Why anyone else was so concerned about my workout is beyond me. In a Pilates class, shouldn't participants be focused on their own bodies and their own practice? Pilates is supposed to foster a positive mind-body connection. Imagine trying to concentrate on your breathing and movement after learning that people are scrutinizing you, discussing you behind your back, and complaining about the accommodations you need. The entire environment stopped feeling supportive and became uncomfortable, judgmental, and exclusionary. The studio also enforced seemingly arbitrary "rules" about not performing planks on the reformer, supposedly because of safety concerns. Yet its TRX straps were not adjustable, which created a much more concerning situation: if a student's feet are not properly secured, the movement may place the student at risk of falling or injuring the lower back. I can't help wondering whether that contributed to those classes no longer being offered. The inconsistency between policing an individual modification and overlooking equipment-related concerns was striking. A good instructor knows how to offer safe alternatives without embarrassing or alienating a client. A good studio creates an environment where people with different bodies, abilities, and injury histories can exercise without feeling watched, judged, or pushed out. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here. I came to work out and care for my body, not to relive high school social dynamics in a Pilates studio.

I should have noticed the recurring bill earlier. I went to this facility and the girl told me only manager can handle this and will call me back ASAP. I still have not received a call. I called my bank to dispute the oct cycle. If I do not hear from you guy by tomorrow am. I will report you to the San Antonio business bureau. How is it that you think it is ok to charge someone who has not been there since before the pandemic closing a monthly fee? Do not leave your credit cards there on hold. A fraud business. Update 2 Called again, they saw my phone number on incoming and my call went to voice mail. Used my son phone to call, "Carly" said she was busy answering another persons call. Now I was told there is no manager in this branch only assistant manager who is not going to be working till tomorrow. This was different from yesterday when I was told a manager will call me. Again I will give them a couple more days to figure out what the heck is going on. And a daily 1 star review until I receive a full explanation for this mess.
