Give that man a hand! That was some hard ass work. Speaking of work, Beejay had an excellent eye for determining whether you were at peak levels or whether you needed a day with a bit less intensity. He definitely gave a lot of attention to your macros and diet (far more than anyone I've worked with in the past). He's very no nonsense and that's probably not for everyone. If you aren't going to put in the hard work to manage your diet, you will fail and he will let you know it. But if you put in the work, you'd be very hard pressed to find a better trainer in San Antonio (I did work with some of the other trainers at Hasfit and I got to say they were all stellar). Overall, you are going to have to spend some coin (I was at just under $500/month) but when you start seeing the results of that spent money, you aren't going to miss it. You're going to be thankful for the transformative experience as you become fitter and healthier.

When you walk in, you step into a gym that removes you from all of the distractions of life and you can just do work. The music is pumping, you're greeted on a first name basis, the gym is clean and set up perfectly for the upcoming workout. You really can't help but push yourself to do your absolute best when you're there. Every workout is set up for a group personal training class, but Sam and Danny both have the ability to pay attention to every person in the class to give everyone the attention they need. They recognize the different levels of fitness and exercise knowledge in each client, and accommodate accordingly. I have seen just about every age and body type in the gym with me. Sam and Danny are both educated fitness fanatics and their passion for what they do is apparent every time I see them. They are both focused and serious about what they do, but they keep it a ton of fun as well. I am a Mom of two small children (4 and almost 2) with a full time job and crazy hours. I had been an athlete for almost all my life but had a really hard time getting back to working out after having my youngest child. My diet had also changed significantly during and after that pregnancy. I had trained with Sam previously, back in 2009/2010, and absolutely loved his personal training style so I knew I had to give Alio a try. My husband and I went in for a tour and a free class, signed up, set our goals, had our measurements taken, and Danny set us up with a personally tailored nutrition plan that he modified every 2 weeks (he still modifies it). Within two weeks (6 sessions) I already felt like I was returning to my old self...fit and healthy. During my first six weeks, I lost 8 pounds (144 lbs to 136 lbs) and a little over 5% body fat. This was with going to Alio only 3-4 times per week (no additional working out) and following my diet exactly as prescribed. My clothes fit better, I feel better, I ALWAYS make sure I make time for my workouts because I love going to this gym. I am not a morning person at all and I get up at 445 am to get to the 530 am workout if it's my only option because this has become something that I NEED. I absolutely cannot recommend Alio highly enough. I'm addicted.

At Gold's Gym, I meandered from machine to machine, half-heartedly gave the treadmill a go and looked over at the free weights section like it was the boss fight that I wasn't leveled up enough to attempt. I would lose a pound here and there but it was all just so.. boring. Alio doesn't do boring. Every day there's a new circuit that works a different set of muscles than the previous day. Add in the music and lighting and Alio makes Gold's look like the Wal-Mart of gyms. Danny and Sam are amazing trainers. Don't know what the heck a sumo squat pulse is? They're there to demonstrate and watch your form to prevent tweaks. Not sure what weight you should use for a single arm kettlebell swing? They're there to help you figure out what'll work for you. On the other end, if you're someone who loves a challenge, they are ready (and willing!) to make a circuit harder for you like adding in extra cardio and/or going up on the weights/reps. The best part of Alio Fitness Club? Results! I've personally witnessed many people get in shape here ranging from people whose goal was weight loss to others who put on serious muscle, it's always inspiring. As for myself, Alio has turned me into quite the flex-addict.. If you want gym results but dread the monotony of #gymlife, try out Alio Fitness Club!

I decided a gym membership didn't give me the push that I needed to improve my fitness. I was never going to get anywhere by pedaling on a recumbent bike watching food network and travel channel (however fantastic that sounds). Over the past 4-5 months with high intensity interval training, I've seen very noticeable improvements in my strength and stamina. Every training session is challenging, different, and fun. Jean Carlos is an extremely cool, supportive, knowledgeable, personable, and motivating personal trainer. He's there to keep you on track and to hold you accountable. It's evident that deep down he's actually interested in your improvement as a person and wants to be a part of that journey. In addition to Jean Carlos himself, it's awesome working out alongside other folks in the community that aspire to get healthier too. Before it started, she asked the participants about their background and experience with yoga so she could adjust accordingly if needed. I got there early to avoid traffic and talked more with the owner, Angel and got to hear more about the sessions they offer as well as the history of how the gym came to be (lots of inspiration from he and his wife's love of Japan and their visits there!) and it was very welcoming! Smaller gym so more focus on individuals and making things more personalized. Excited to go again! Was told they're doing more things with sound baths and got a new Pilates machine!

The sessions were difficult since I hadn't worked out in a few years, but reinforced my thoughts that I needed to get back to the gym and I signed up for a year's worth of their small group training. I love the small class size and while the classes are tough, my body feels better, is definitely toning up and I sleep better too. I love the individual attention the small group classes allow and how they focus on different muscle groups each day. Every trainer I've worked with leading the classes has been excellent....encouraging and pushing me to increase my strength but modifying exercises when needed to avoid injury. I've just completed 2 months at Fit Therapy of Texas and am so happy I joined!

I'm no athlete, yet Kenny manages to work with my limited capabilities to get me stronger and more flexible. After little more than 8 weeks (despite me ignoring diet or aerobic exercise discipline), I managed to lose over 4% body fat working out three times a week with Kenny! I also lost over 2 inches on my hips-- and I'm 57! Now I am encouraged to keep going, to lose the weight I've gained since menopause, and to keep getting stronger and get my full range of motion back. With Kenny's training and expertise I get to benefit from diet recommendations (gum had carbs, who knew?) and yes, even aerobic exercise. I'm going to try jump roping with one that has a counter in the handle. I'm looking forward to being leaner and fitter in 2019.

It feels like…read morethe layout prioritizes team classes and endless cardio equipment--there are 20+ treadmills and stair steppers that are hardly ever in use, while the free weights are crammed into a tiny space with only a couple of sets per weight. I participate in team classes and my daughter is in swim, but given what we pay for a family membership, spending so much time waiting for open weights or machines is frustrating. It's definitely making me reconsider our membership.

They are all so unique and still they have a sacred mission, to help us understand how important it is to challenge ourselves, and they encourage us to grow mentally, physically and emotionally through yoga. I have never felt so amazing and it's because the Union is such a nonjudgmental, safe and peaceful and uplifting place where yogis come together to be kind to ourselves and to bring courage to our practice. It's not a competition. It's aa transformative journey. I am forever grateful to every single one of you. The restrooms are clean, the yoga equipment and area where we practice yoga is ready for us. Be on time. Be present. Be ready to sweat and let go of all your worries.

First off, the studio smells like sweat, which I understand may be an unfortunate byproduct of hot yoga, but the smell is unbearable, especially in a 105 degree, carpeted room. Also, the instructor I had for my class, seemed, well, judgey. I didn't feel like she was a yoga instructor, she seemed more like a cross fit coach. Very hardcore, and not what you would expect from a fellow yogi. If you're looking for a spiritual yoga experience, this studio is not for you. However, if you're looking for a hardcore, cross-fit type experience, you might want to try it out. But it's definitely not for me.
