They're always nearby to make sure my form is correct, and they never lose patience when I ask them to remind me how to do certain moves. Speaking of supervision, I went to Lift today for the first time in about a week and a half, and I told Chenell that I've been experiencing some pain in my left shoulder. She sent Dirk outside to talk to me about it, and after I described my symptoms, he re-wrote part of my workout and continued to check in to make sure I wasn't in any pain. I felt super safe and respected, and there was ZERO pressure for me to push through any discomfort. Hiiiighly recommend this place!

I've heard him say verbatim to a woman next to me, " that's because you're stupid". Another time " yeah, you're an idiot". He's demeaned me many times. I just accepted it as part of The Lift Silverlake Experience. One day I came in and said "nice new shirt and it looks fancy and you look nice.. which he replied to me "what about you? You look like you just rolled out of bed and put on dirty clothes". Which is hilarious because I was fresh out of the shower with fresh clean clothes.. I always showered before my workout because Dirk likes to make fun of people who smell. I was giving him a compliment but he doesn't know how to take it, so he spews hate. After that interaction he banned me from his paid social club. I said nothing except what I mentioned above and when questioned why I was banned, they simply said they didn't want to talk about it. I attached Dirk's email banning me so you can see that obviously I was a very good client and they never had issues in the past. I was never late. I never missed a session. I never acted inappropriately ever.. I spent over $6,000 dollars training with them. Dirk is a very troubled person and I hope he finds help for his mental issues. I wish everyone at Lift Silverlake the best and it would be a beautiful place without Dirk there with all his hate and spite. God bless and always sending prayers for peace, comfort and grace. Unfortunately, I couldn't continue because the class schedule didn't fit my availability. They typically offer only one class per day, often during regular work hours, with no evening classes. I was able to attend weekend classes for a while and would have happily kept coming, but the class packages expire after two months. Given the limited schedule, it just wasn't realistic for me to use all of my classes before they expired. If they added more evening classes or offered a little more flexibility with package expiration, I'd definitely consider coming back.

I decided to come and check it out, I was also looking for personal training just to get the guidance that I so desperately need. I had my assessment with Miguel, and man this guy made me feel comfortable from the very beginning. Throughout the entire hour I spent with him, there was not one moment I felt self-conscious or judged, I felt right at home and it was because of his disposition. He found ways to relate to my personal experience, he managed to make me come out of my shell (which is not a very easy thing to do). By the end of the assessment I knew this would be my new home gym, I needed to become a member AND I needed to sign up for personal training with him of course. Throughout college and a year or two into the pandemic running was enough. But over the past year coming out of the pandemic and now being in my late 20's, my body started to change and running just wasn't enough. Running and swimming was all I knew and generically speaking my predisposition to easily retaining muscle made me terrified to lift. I felt stuck and was fearful that I would need to turn to plastic surgery to get my body back. Leo was the first trainer to actually take the time to hear me and just listen to the issues that I conveyed.
