Talked to Detroit, who shot straight with me from the get-go. He said that the crack was too far gone and would keep spreading, no matter what we did. Told me to come see him when I was ready and that he'd give me a fair price when I did. Fast-forward about 1 week, and that crack had spread clear across my windshield (just as they had predicted!). I knew it was time to do a replacement. Even though I live on the North Shore, I came down to Gentilly to get the repair done because I had appreciated them being up-front and honest with me. I called ahead, gave them my VIN #, and asked if they had my windshield in stock (which they did). Drove over to their shop (not a flashy place; no bells & whistles; what you see is what you get). Sat in the shop while Dante replaced my windshield. I was in and out in a reasonable amount of time. New windshield looks great, and the price I paid is the one I was quoted (which was very reasonable). Service was extremely polite and professional from start to finish. The employee answering the phones was very professional and knowledgeable. We set up an appointment time for the technician to come to our home to do the replacement. We were given a service appointment window of 8:30 AM- 12:30 PM. The day of our appointment our technician, Eddie, arrived at 9:45 AM. He promptly got to work and our entire windshield was replaced in one hour. The work was quality, Eddie was friendly and professional, and our vehicle was left clean. He gave us instructions to avoid a car wash (which was fine because it was getting ready to pour down rain that day!) Unfortunately, when he came back a second time, he brought the wrong size glass again. He then told me he would find the correct glass and that it would take a couple of days. A week went by and I never heard a word from him, so I called him myself. He told me he couldn't find the glass. At that point, I found and purchased the correct glass myself. I then asked him how much he would charge to install the glass I had already purchased. He increased the price from what he had originally quoted me, so I declined his services. The kicker is that he still has my $30 deposit and has never returned it or even contacted me to ask whether I still needed his services. Looking back, the first time he showed up with the wrong glass should have been the red flag. I should have counted my losses then and moved on. The first time was a side window that was totally busted in. He was able to replace the glass the same day, but when I received the car back the automatic window toggle button did not work. To his credit, he admitted that he broke it and wouldn't charge me for the glass job until everything was repaired and I was happy. The next day I brought the car to him to fix the toggle and he broke another piece. Again, I did not get charged until he was able to fix the window toggle. Fast forward 2 weeks later and my back window was busted from another break-in. I brought the car back to him to fix the glass since he had been so honest about breaking the window toggle the first time (big mistake.) I got the car back a couple of days after I dropped it off and it was riddled with scratches all along the window pane on the vehicle itself. Some of the scratches were so deep that you could see metal. He said he ordered some touch-up paint that wouldn't be in for 2 weeks. This time he he had already charged me for the job even though it was not complete. Less than a week after recieving the car, my husband took it through the car wash only to find out that the glass wasn't properly sealed and leaked into the back of the car. When my husband expressed his concerns for the quality of the job that was done, Eric seemed shocked. He resorted to blaming us for the leaks and not taking responsibility for the scratches. He refused to refund our money for the job that he clearly did not do. After bringing it to a reputable body shop, we were told that it will take $1500 to get our car back to what it should be. The body shop also told us that the glass Eric assured us was from the car dealership was not even OEM factory glass and would need to be replaced entirely. I'm begging you to not bring your car here. He may come across as nice and helpful, but his work is shotty and haphazard.
