Simple yoga studio, but one of the best. It can be very hard to get in and packed. Great level of heat and dimmed lighting. Nice flooring and lots of modifications if you have injuries. I started practicing yoga about 3 years ago. Back then, I was going to another local yoga studio and once that studio moved to a smaller, more cramped location, and my favorite instructors left, I soon gave up going. Enter - Stray Dog Yoga. I had heard this place was opening and was familiar with Nancy Malone (owner/instructor) from the last place I went. I soon found out that my two favorite instructors (Darcy and Erin) were teaching there! Hallelujah! Angels singing from the heavens! I signed up immediately. It's great to be back in the 'flow' again and it was also nice that Darcy remembered me from years ago. I will definitely be a regular at Stray Dog! The studio is perfectly lit and the temperature is just right. Plus it helps that they have ceiling fans to keep the air circulating. I felt energized as well as whooped when I left! read more

Took a heated vinyasa class here this morning. First time at this studio. I can't say enough good things about my experience. Was greeted at the door and explained where everything was. The instructor was incredible, she was so sweet and encouraging and gave modifications and support throughout the whole class. In fact, everyone there was just so friendly. It wasn't an intimidating atmosphere at all. I'm so happy I tried this and can't wait to come back! Highly recommend. read more

I found Stray Dog Yoga Studio in 2011 after I bought a Groupon. I had always wanted to try hot yoga & Stray Dog made me a believer! Nancy Malone and her instructors have always been first rate and took my yoga practice to a completely different level. On occasion you will be greeted by Cooper, the beautiful stray dog who inspired the name & logo! What a fantastic workout hot yoga is and with the assistance of great instructors like Jesse and Lindsay to be there to guide & tweak your poses, you are sure to sweat & improve your practice. You will need a yoga mat, a long yoga towel that covers your mat, a hand towel to dry off & a water bottle. The studio supplies yoga blocks & straps. They also sell all of these items and have a cute selection of logo t-shirts. read more

Felt the need to up the ante on the reviews here. I'm a pretty dedicated, 20-something yogi that has been practicing for about 7 years off and on, but really only began a consistent, near daily practice this year. I lived in Wexford at one point, though now I am close to the city, near Lawrenceville, where there are a ton of yoga studio options, most of which I've tried. Some I've liked, other's I haven't, but I always find myself coming back to Stray Dog nonetheless. First off, the heat is 100% perfect. Not too hot, but not luke warm either. And for those that say it is too hot, it's could be because you don't practice often -- or haven't practiced in awhile -- and the heat can be a bit shocking to your system at first, especially if you're not breathing, drank enough water, etc. I know from my many times of going back and forth that the first class after a hiatus (or first class, period) can be a big deal with the heat. But Stray Dog does a good job of keeping the heat consistently comfortable and circulating the air with several overhead fans. *My suggestion if you're wary about the heat, though, is to try a Level 1 class where the heat is turned down a notch. I still attend Level 1 classes every now and then -- perfect for when you just want to relax and are in for some fine-tuning to your alignment. Second, each and every teacher is amazing in their own right. They all have their subtle differences, which is why I'm not committed to one teacher versus another and actually enjoy mixing instructors. All are always willing to offer modifications for more or less and make frequent adjustments, which I for one entirely appreciate. Third, the class times are convenient for someone on the go or someone with a consistent schedule. If I feel like waking up super early on a Wednesday or Friday, I'll head to the 6 AM class. If not, there's 9:30 AM ones on most days, and 8:00 AM on others. There's also several classes after 4 PM for when I want to head down after work or school. And lastly, the atmosphere. The lobby has many cubbies for personal items and tons of cute decorations here and there. The studio itself has antibacterial/cushiony flooring (which is great for when you want to handstand up against the wall off of your mat), peaceful lighting and wall color, and is also equipped with blocks and straps for everyone's convenience. I was very pleased to find this studio in wexford and it is currently my favorite. But the last few classes I have been to have been lacking in heat (with the exception of Lindsay's Friday evening class which is always hot and is by far the best of the week). I really wish that they would offer harder classes as well. The flow is always the same and they NEVER offer students the chance to try more challenging poses. When I first started practicing yoga one of the best feelings was finally getting a new pose that you thought looked "impossible" or "crazy" when you first saw it. Overall, this is a nice studio, with a nice staff, but give your clients a chance to see, and practice, more challenging poses, I'm sure they would surprise you, and themselves :) read more

I like almost all of the instructors here, some are really excellent. I am a regular. If you are looking for heated vinyasa power flow this is a great place to go. I'm am not going for 5 starts because I really wish the space had a bigger lobby and a shower. It's a must to go all the way home after class to shower before you can go out in public, and the Giant Eagle is right there! It would be so great to be able to start errands from class. Also....and this is a message to all of the studios around here....there is a lot more to yoga than this style...it would be great to get some classes offered with restorative or yin yoga, or some other styles. Stray Dog will offer a level 1, but it's still a flow class. There are some alternative styles offered from time to time, but it's rare. Even so, this is my go-to studio for yoga. read more

Someone from the studio emailed me apologizing for the incident. She assured me that the instructors would be further trained to handle mixed-level classes. She also offered to refund my money and offered a free yoga class for my mom and I. She seemed genuinely upset this had happened. Since I have left the area I have not taken her up on the offer, but I thought it was really nice. I suspect the incident I previously described may have been a fluke, as she seemed to care very much about the safety and well being of SDY clients. read more

Many of the instructors are helpful and very good. With the exception of Jessie. Instead of letting everyone do what they can do, he tries to have everyone stand on one leg twisted with arms wrapped around. In other words, he doesn't give the true yoga experience. He's too busy trying to correct everyone and changing his mind in the middle of poses to be a good instructor. His class is awful. Will NEVER go to his class again!!!! read more

Can't say enough good things about Stray Dog Yoga! I'm here at least 3-4 times a week. The teachers, facility, classes and prices are fantastic. They offer classes throughout the day, and the classes are always heated, but fans keep the air circulating. I love all the teachers here! They are all very educated and experienced and will always offer modifications during classes. Lindsay is my favorite - her sense of humor makes the class more fun, but she's always challenging her students. This is a great, challenging work out! I only wish they had more than one location. read more

Customer service... I'm at a loss for words. Went in to buy 10 classes for $120 and was shushed when we came in the door. The single woman working then told me a class was in session and asked me to come back in a few minutes and close the door on us... So rude. FYI customer service is most important! read more
