I first came to one point One Yoga because I had a class pass class scheduled. I've never been there but they had a Slowdown class that is totally my jam. I'm usually not a yoga person because I have joints that don't quite stay in place and has been advised not to do so much yoga. It's just because since I can't keep my joint straight some of the poses could hurt me. So what I usually do is go to restorative or a Slowdown class and that will make me feel great because I can keep an eye on my joints and relax. I took my partner to this class because he also wanted to try yoga and sometimes relaxing together is the best way to be. When you enter into the room it is beautiful, it is calming, and it is very very welcoming. There was a water fountain in the back by the bathrooms, on a chalkboard there was everything that you needed for the class, and everything was nice and neat and organized for the class. It was a really great way to start that first time relationship with one point One Yoga. They truly made a great first impression because of how their setup of that welcoming area is. The actual Studio is also very nice. The red brick walls and the beautiful lights really make for a great experience. I felt centered and calm as soon as I walked into the area. It probably helped that I knew exactly what I needed without having to ask anyone because of that chalkboard. Larnie, my favorite instructor, even if I might be spelling her name wrong, was fantastic that first night. She is really the one who's kept me coming back because she is so great. I enjoyed the 30 minutes of yoga and then the 30 minutes of restorative. I left feeling calmer and very centered. I set my intentions for the rest of the week and I kept them. I have been back a few more times and don't see myself stopping anytime soon. I would say for anyone that is looking for a yoga studio try out one point One Yoga. They are great and you will not want to miss out on their experience.

One of my favorite studios…read more I used to go to the weekly Saturday morning $5 community class - all the teachers were terrific. It was a huge help for me during my student years. I remember really enjoying Lisa's intros and teaching method, but really every teacher I had was helpful, deliberate and knowledgeable in their leading of the class.

I waited awhile to write this review, because I didn't want to be the only person in Pittsburgh who…read moredid not like this yoga studio. Well here goes. I purchased a pass for $35.00 for admission to three classes and only used it on one class and I will not be returning for any additional classes. At the start of the class the instructor asked the class what we would all like to work on. One attendee said "the core" I had read the class description several times online and had signed up for a class called "slow flow" which I took to mean more focus on stretching and slow deliberate movements...boy was I wrong. I felt that for a class called slow flow it was very challenging and I was more tense afterwards then I had been before. Personally I can see more advanced yogies having a great time and really enjoying themselves here, but for me as a beginner I felt totally out of the loop and even felt that I was snapped at for not telling the instructor I was a beginner. This yoga study does not have any showers...which for me as some who catches the bus made for a pretty uncomfortable bus ride home. The studio was very warm and cozy and Yoga Hive is a lovely facility even if it lacks showers. It's just not for me. I need more guided mediation and yoga for stress relief not to build abs. I am pretty sad, will I never be able to find a yoga studio to which I can belong? I have these two additional passes that I am certain have expired by now. I hope every one else enjoys their yoga though.

I had been coming to this studio for some years now and usually had a good experience. I planned to…read morego to a 9:30 AM class, but Pittsburgh road construction completely halted my normal route to the studio. I tried to call ahead of time (as I realized I would be late while driving) and nobody answered the phone number listed for the studio. Fine, I thought, I would just be a bit late and miss part of the class. I arrived at 9:40 and tried to open the door to the studio, but it was locked. Oh well -- I decided I'd stick around and talk to them in person afterwards to see if I could be honored coming to a different class in the future. After waiting an hour, I talked to the studio. I was told they got rid of their phone because nobody would answer it. They also did not explain their door locking policy (if I had known about it, I would not have bothered coming). Lastly, I was told they could not honor putting me in a different class because I had booked through class pass, but if I had a membership through the studio itself, they would be able to do that for me. This didn't make any sense to me. Finally, they told me I should purchase a membership, as if this whole experience would have inspired me to do such a thing. Since there are plenty of other studios in Pittsburgh, I'll save my money and go elsewhere.

This is not a beginners studio. There were not many modifications, and I would recommend knowing poses before you go. The facility is nice and very spacious. The instructor was great. The thing that will make me not return is the smell inside the studio itself. It smelled like a dirty locker room.. Musty, sweaty, and almost like urine. While I liked other things about the class I took, I just found that smell so off-putting.
