Really clean and inviting place!! A good workout, mentioned modifications, and could hear the instructor clearly. Some recommendations would be bringing a yoga towel that covers your yoga mat. I was slipping from the heat during some positions. I would suggest getting there at least 15 minutes before since it can be hard to find a spot. This was my first time ever at Salt. I've been practicing hot power yoga for 10 years and had the opportunity to take class from Melissa previously at another yoga studio. Melissa taught a 60 minute strong flow class. What was I impressed by most is that it started and end on time and there was no music (I'm not a fan of and which I feel is rare these days). Salt had a few parking spots out front but no shortage of space first thing on Saturday morning. The studio is clean and well maintained. There is tea and fruit to have before or after class. Also if you forgot your yoga mat or towel there are Manduka mats and towels for you to use. Additionally there are plastic glasses so you don't need to feel to buy water if your forgot. This studio is very intimate and has great instructors. I participated in their "New Yogi Membership" which allows you 30 days of unlimited yoga class for $30. Definitely worth it if you're interested in seeing if yoga is for you. This studio gets very hot, you'll get a great sweat in if you're into that! The only issue I would have is that they will make sure to get as many yoga mats laid down for their more popular classes..it can feel uncomfortable if you do not like tight spaces. I attended hot yoga on a rainy Saturday morning with Dezza Pastor and it was fantastic. Challenging and spiritual. The instructor made fantastic massage like adjustments. Loved her energy. I live out of town but look forward to practicing at this gem of a studio when I visit my in-laws. A little slice of self care during my visits. It's very easy to drop in here. I really enjoy taking classes at this studio. Parking in downtown Sewickley is a bear, yes, but it's worth it to leave a little early so you can get a spot in one of their classes. The teachers challenge you, but don't shame you for taking modifications or breaks. The space is smallish, but cozy, clean, and serene. I do have my own yoga mat and towel, but appreciate that they offer them w/o a rental fee, so that I can leave mine in my car or home gym if I want to. I was in town and decided to try it. The studio was cute and clean. But it was very difficult for a visitor to find in the dark. And then it was unclear where I should park. I was arriving for a class in the dark. I even called the studio to ask but no one answered the phone. Some clear directions on their website and VM would be helpful. The flow was good. I felt like I got a good work out. The room was heated.... could have been a bit warmer. The class I took did not have music. Some of the students and I interacted before and after class - very friendly vibe. If you are traveling from out of town they offer free mats, towels, etc for your $17 drop in. Nice perk. I enjoy the fast pace, but some of the instructors instructions are somewhat militant....prior yoga experiences were much more soothing. Music would be nice too. Instructors seem more interested in gossiping with each other rather than engage the students before/after class. Pretty sure they made fun of a student, and I wasn't the only one who noticed. Basically, you don't get that same warm and fuzzy feeling that you expect. Please practice what you state at the end of each class. read more

I've tried several yoga studios in the Pittsburgh area and stumbled upon Salt a little over a year ago when I was looking for a studio closer to my home. After the first time I walked in the door I never felt the need to go back to any of the other hot yoga studios that I've been to! This place is just amazing and you feel so welcomed by everyone from the moment you walk in the door. The instructors all have their own flavor and style so it keeps things interesting from class to class. They all incorporate a good mix of faster paced flows with holding poses longer which I really like. Another thing I love is the wide variety of people that come to this studio. The other yoga studios I've been to are mostly college age girls wearing the latest lululemon, but this studio has a wonderful mix of all ages both male and female who are there to enjoy their yoga practice. The studio has complimentary mats, large mat towels, hand-sized towels, and cups for water (we all end up forgetting our water bottles at some point!).
