Parents BEWARE!! Before I start with my personal experience with this, what I call, babysitting…read moreservice... give EEC a call and ask for a full background report. There's a list a mile long of violations (ie: giving child medicine without parental consent, not sanitizing toys, breaking confidentiality of parent and child by sharing information, leaving food out, serving food with expired dates, cleaning supplies within reach of kids.. the list goes on).. now for my personal experience.. my step son currently goes here and it's been awful. He's set to enter kindergarten in a few months and can't even write his name yet. My fiancé and I have been teaching him all of his letters, sounds, etc on our own time so he can at least be somewhat prepared for school. The staff is a joke. They were mad at my fiancé and I because my step son wanted us to make him a lunch from home and we stopped paying the school their lunch fee on the days he was sent a home lunch. They put us through h*ll over it; they even went as far to take his lunch bag, put it upside down, as everything I neatly packed him slammed onto the table. (EXTREMELY degrading and just plain rude!!) they were trying to say the lunches I packed were not healthy enough (we packed him a pb&j, animal crackers, sugar free jello, yogurt, cereal, juice box, fruit snacks, apple/fruit cup) and every time we fixed what they said, it was another problem like the food was making him sick or not filling him up (SERIOUSLY?!) But whenever I went in the school, there were opened chip bags and cookies all over the counter (that I have pictures of by the way). There was a time that I sent him to school with a lunch and they proceeded to tell me it was unhealthy and needed at least a milk. So I went to the store and bought a milk, cheese, and an additional fruit and veggie and returned to the school only to find that they went to the park to have lunch(the cook informed me) as I was walking out, I saw his lunch SITTING IN THE WINDOW IN THE SUN clearly not with him at the park. So I brought the lunch and other food I just bought to the park and they told me that my step son said hes having school lunch instead. (Mind you it costs money for their lunch) so they left it up to a 4 yr old to decide if his dad was going to pay for lunch that day after sending him with one already. WTF?! There has also been issues between my fiancé and the mother, which the daycare has no problem involving themselves in because the mother is just as trashy as this daycare so clearly they get along lovely! They are constantly crossing boundaries with us and causing more problems between us all. They treat us like dirt; don't even greet us half of the time. Most of the staff are teenagers. Every time I walk in they're sitting on the floor gossiping about boyfriends (HELLO there are children around that you're not even bothering to engage in!) not to mention the god awful smell of mold/mildew. I could honestly go on for days with stories of this dump... Overall very nasty, awful place. If I could rate this in the negatives I WOULD!!!

We looked at several places and St Spyridon definitely had the best pricing. The director, Lori, is highly responsive and always available. I love the app that they use to communicate important notices or snow delays/closures. I'm never confused on when we do or don't have school. The teachers are so wonderful and helpful. They're always willing to chat about how your child is doing in class and the reviews they do are detailed and in depth. The yearly and weekly curriculum is always posted. They also have summer boot camp activities which is great for the kids (and parents!). We love St Spyridon and next year, my son will be joining my daughter!

They are patient, professional, and have a strong understanding of child development. The program is play-based with a strong emphasis on social interactions, language development, and art. The classrooms are large, child centered, and CLEAN. The school offers several additional programs including Music through Apple Tree Arts, and Sports through Hero Kid Sports (these programs are for the 2016-2017 school year). The cost for full time, all day care simply cannot be beat. My husband and I are so happy that our son attends the preschool program and look forward to the pre-k program next year. We have watched our son blossom, developing strong bonds with his teachers and friends, as well as huge gains in language and confidence. SSP is a really wonderful, special place.

*disclaimer - this review is only about the Preschool II room*…read more My daughter's last day at First Friends was last Friday, mercifully. If there was an option to give zero or negative stars, believe me I would. Please note, my daughter does not have special needs, but one of the recurring issues is that she tends to get distracted while having a meal with other people, whether it be with our family or with other children. We noted that the first week she was there, she did not eat the entire lunch we sent with her (lunch is not provided by the center). We did not send a seven course meal, it was usually chicken nuggets, some kind of fruit, yogurt, and a juice box - items that my daughter has eaten time and time again. We spoke with the Director and her teachers about this, repeatedly. Time and time again, she came home with parts of her lunch either not touched or partially finished. There was even one day where she came home with everything except a small cup of applesauce. Someone at First Friends, through their years of education and experience thought that it was completely appropriate for a four year old to have a cup of applesauce for lunch. Both my wife and I made repeated requests of the Director to retrieve copies of the health records we gave to them - never received them. On our daughter's last day, her teachers completely ignored both my wife (who picked up our daughter) and my daughter. This is a telling sign that if you express any concerns as a parent, not only will they be ignored, so will you. Try not paying for a day and you'll have enough "statements" from First Friends to heat your place for a day. It is glaringly obvious that this center primarily exists to make money, NOT care for your children. As a parent, my advice is this, if you love your preschool-age children, DO NOT send them here.

Loved the Goddard school. I truly miss it now that I'm looking for child care in San Diego, CA…read more I enrolled my son when he turned 15 months old. I was hesitant and a bit nervous to place him in a daycare but The Goddard school and the staff made me feel confident and happy about my decision. From the facility being super clean and organized, the safe drop off and pick up process, amazing directors and staff this place was awesome. My son's first teachers were Ms. Noel and Ms. Pam, two incredible people. My son fell in love with Ms. Pam. They taught him a few words in sign-language , table manners, and how to play with others. I loved how they sent me photos of him throughout the day thru an app. And if anything happened to my son even a small scratch they would tell me immediately. When my son transitioned to the next class it was hard for him at first to leave his " first love" lol but soon enough he adjusted to Ms. Catey and Ms. Myeisha. Was sad to see him cry on the his last day when we said goodbye. Above it all I loved how structured and fun it was. They did daily activities to match with the weekly theme. I now have plenty of artwork from his first year of daycare. I can go on about the school but know it's a great place where your child will be safe, loved, and learn so much. Hard to find child care here in San Diego that compares to this school.
