we Signed a contract with Stratton to build stairs leading to an existing dock. Sam's project and proposal looked great. That was in March. he took 50% as down payment, 19K to be exact and it is now July and Sam is MIA. Any sort of direction or preference I gave to Sam was promptly ignored leading to extensive & unnecessary damage to my yard as well as multiple other frustrations. Sam was unreachable once the contract was signed, and when the french drain worsened my drainage issues instead of fixing them as promised, they refused to do anything about it. Very bad experience. Almost nothing I can say positive. Workmanship, coordination, timeliness, and communication were as unprofessional as any contractor I've dealt with in my 76 years. I sent photos of the requested work and without even a phone call with an estimate, I received an invoice which was substantially higher than anticipated and it was payable upon receipt. I called to say I had never been asked to pay the total up front without even an estimated date for the commencement of the work. I had a 25' x 105' plot of land that was covered in trees, sticks, weeds, rocks and brush. Called Stratton for a quote on clearing it and putting top soil and seed. I called for an estimate for gravel delivery and spreading for a gravel driveway and Sam picked up my call and delivered an estimate same day. His estimate was competitive and I will use him in the future, but not able to use his service at this time for other reasons. So many people did not return my call or would not spread the gravel. read more
