    Mark Tuttle Tree Service

    Mark Tuttle Tree Service

Our prior tree person had just retired and recommended Mark Tuttle. We were concerned after so many…read moregreat years with our prior service that it would be hard to find the same quality. We had two large trees requiring service, one over our driveway and one over a road. Both had us concerned that they could fall or drop heavy branches. Mark Tuttle came out and met with us, provided an estimate, explained exactly what he would do, and told us he would find a way to fit us in but that he was slammed (we appreciated the honesty!!). Since it wasn't really an emergency we told him to call us when he had time after the holidays. In mid-January, he called us with an opening, came with his bucket truck and two helpers, and carefully and professionally took down our trees (as requested), cleaned up, moved the wood away from main areas for us, and made sure we sere comfortable with what was done. His helpers were also professional and friendly, and the team even helped me with something related, answered my questions, and is back in our neighborhood today because our neighbors saw the job they did and hired him too! Above and beyond, great value, high customer service.

We had Mark remove a tall, messy birch tree in our front yard. He and his team did a terrific job…read moreof cutting the tree, grinding the stump, and removing the large horizontal roots that had grown out from the base of the tree. Everything was done as promised and at the price quoted. They worked carefully to not disturb vegetation around the tree and cleaned up the area after finishing. We initially got five estimates before deciding to use Mark. I will go straight to him for any future tree service that I might need.

Got an estimate in April but they didn't come out until August. I was initially quoted $8k to…read moreremove 5 trees, trim up branches on 3 other trees and to grind up and remove the 5 stumps. The mailed estimate however was $14,000.00 and some change. They took down the trees and said someone else would remove the cut down trees and grind up and remove the stumps. The stump grinder came and said that he was only going to do 4 of the 5 stumps and I could pick out which ones. I called the company and told them that this wasn't the deal so th sent out their team again. I showed them that they didn't finish the tree trimming and ivy removal on a tree in the back yard. They said they needed a lift to do it and would be back but did grind the final stump. When the team came out to finish the tree in the back, that team said they weren't going to work for free and had the office call me and tell me there was an additional $600 charge to trim one additional branch that they had forgotten. I paid the almost $15k and told the office that the French Drain in my backyard was not working after they dropped 2 trees on top of it and I was told that the owner (Steve, the 5 star review on here), would come look at the French Drain. He never came but sent out the bill for the additional $600. So my estimate of $8,000 went up to $15,000.00 and I've got to find a contractor to repair what they crushed (the French Drain) and still haven't seen anyone from C S Flournoy to even look at what was damaged and what wasn't done. I had to remove the ivy from my trees myself even though that was part of the initial estimate. The secondary tree trimmers have left huge tire tracks across my front yard bc they didn't want to backup from the street.

After much research and comparisons with other companies we chose Greenleaf Tree for our project…read moreand what good luck it was that we did. The suggestions made by the owner, Paul Hutto, made a lot of sense and seemed more appropriate than plans put forward by some other companies. His prices were so much more reasonable compared to other quotes we wondered if the job would be done as thoroughly as we wanted. But we need not have worried."Thorough" is exactly Greenleaf's approach. The team was impressively professional and so well organized everyone was FAST. The team used two high-end pieces of equipment: a bucket truck and a chipper. The chipper made big branches just vanish. I know our job was a small one compared to what they are capable of but it was a big deal to us and we are much more comfortable now that some large overhanging branches are gone. The plans were mindful of the well-being of the tree in question, a large Spanish Willow Oak which is mature and healthy but with a tendency to drop heavy limbs. Some branches had crossed others so in windy conditions they would rub and cause damage. The tree is more balanced and therefore steadier after Greenleaf's treatment. We didn't consider it good luck that a strong storm blew down a bunch of branches the night before our Greenleaf appointment but they took on this additional work just like the rest of the project although the damage was not strictly included in the estimate. This typified the Greenleaf approach: above and way beyond what we expected them to accomplish. Here's an example of the care taken: if a branch threatened to fall on anything on the property that might be damaged, the team used a sort of rope and winch to ease the limb safely down to the ground with no harm done. When the team left after the job was done, you couldn't even tell that they had been here - except the place looked better than it did when they got here. After much research and comparisons with other companies we chose Greenleaf Tree for our project and what good luck it was that we did. In a day-and-a half they had taken down all of our trees and ground out the stumps. The price was excellent, the service was professional, and the quality of work was top notch. I never write yelp reviews, but these guys were so frickin' awesome, I'd feel shameful for not posting something. If I ever need tree service again, I'm calling Paul. They are simply amazing.
