I also had a really bad experience, and will probably not be returning either. Although, I am on a very low income and need the help from this particular PDSA's part of the practice. My cat is elderly and is in some discomfort for reasons unknown, as I discovered it was a PDSA clinic I went to try and get my cat seen.
The man I saw was really rude to me and made me feel very uncomfortable. Basically he was more interested in lecturing me about how they are not a charity and that I wouldn't expect to go to a petrol station and get free fuel now would I? I wasn't looking for a free anything, I was prepared to pay what I had in my wallet, which was at the time only £15.00. I didn't know until I got there that the PDSA registration would take 6 weeks to complete.
The receptionists were the ones who encouraged me and said to me to wait a minute and we will see if he will see you. I was already prepared to go away and work out what to do with my cat before being told he would see me, but they said it would be ok to see him. So I waited and he called me in and I started telling him my story, that's when he folded his arms, leant back, all his body language said was: I'm not interested and then continued to lecture me about it all. I hadn't even got a chance to talk about my cat!
I will have to wait 6 weeks to be able to get the help I need for my cat via the PDSA registration, which is fine, as I will now take my cat to another vet and pay what I can to get my cat seen. I will borrow the money from somewhere or get it somehow, I will not be giving him any more of my time.
The man took one look at me and judged me.... I have dreadlocks and I think he presumed the worst of everything about me just from the way I look and from the story I was telling him; about how I was new to the area and I had inherited my cat from my dead Mother, and that I have never had a cat before and this is all new to me, he wasn't interested in the fact that my cat is poorly. So therefore I will be making a formal complaint. read more
