We happened to wander in on Small Biz Saturday, and were able to cover a lot of our holiday shopping for our children (the substantial discount for the day helped was much appreciated, even though the prices were very reasonable for a boutique like this), and pick up a couple things for ourselves as well. Everything is well-curated, and the selection of the kids' stuff in particular is perfect for my daughters, who are probably not alone in their deep devotion to all things pink and sparkly and rainbow and unicorn. We snagged dresses, and pajamas, and backpacks, and hats. Seriously, it's as if the buyer was thinking of us in all her purchases. I also love supporting a great family biz, especially one with the great vibes the owners are giving off. Shout out to Gary, who just seemed like a great dad and grandfather, helping out his daughter with the place. I'm sure she needs it, as I think she's got four kids. We'll be back whenever we're wandering around Saugerties, although I'll have to be careful about bringing my girls in, because they're going to want everything in here.

I am sure it was her as, since I shop at Winter Sun often, I know Tano bags are infrequently purchased at the store since they are so rare for this area and expensive. I remember this "artist" was very nice, she had an adorable dog with her that the employees were happy to see. They did not bat an eye that she had a dog in the store, only fawned over him and politely answered all of her questions about the Tano and where it was located in the store. When she told them why she was buying this bag, they congratulated her for her recent accomplishment and were very friendly, as always. If there was any rudeness directed towards her when she asked for tissue paper, I am positive that it was all in her head. I have been going to Winter Sun for years and know that the employee she dealt with is new and a very nice, courteous woman. I was not paying specific attention to them while she checked out, but I have NEVER in all my time in Rhinebeck heard a bad word about this store, its employees and owners. Lila and Steven Pague are some of the nicest, most involved people you will find in Rhinebeck. They contribute to our local community and are lovely people. If someone asked me where they could buy a gift for someone in town, I would point them right in the direction of their shop, Winter Sun/Summer Moon.
