I've not been to the Strandcafe during regular business hours / the summer season, but my parents are big fans and regulars. So much so that they chose the venue for a privately catered family function. The dining room is very cozy, with all wood floors and walls, and the cuisine is rustic Berlin home cooking.
During our brunch, we enjoyed a buffet table of roast pork with pineapple sauerkraut, steamed potatoes, potato dumplings and a chopped salad with fresh dill. As cold appetizers, we had smoked salmon, local smoked river fish, fruit, cheeses, caviar deviled eggs and the most amazing, steaming whole grain bread rolls.
Desserts were good but not great. The crowd favorites were an apple cake with a solid crust on top and chocolate mousse. The lemon mousse and cheese cake were good but had a slightly artificial lemon flavor. Coffee is strong and hot.
