    Screen for upstairs theatre
    Bill E.

The Strand Theatre is one of the oldest theatre's in the United States and it's located right in downtown Delaware. The strand is also a nonprofit theatre, which is really cool I'm guessing that's what keeps the prices for going to see a movie there so low. Speaking of prices General Admisson after 6 is $6.50 per person and a steal. I went a few weeks back to see Fast and Furious 7 on opening night and the movie was placed in the upstairs theatre and it was packed with tweens and 20 somethings that grew up on the franchise. I didn't check out the concession stand as I had just eaten dinner at 1808 across the street. I would like to see the theatre cleaned up after the showing as there was popcorn and spilled soda on the floor, but it's a minor complaint. Support your local theatre!

If you like historic theaters and supporting your downtown this is the place for you. I would much rather go here in a large multiplex.

They just put all the prices together. So if you want say pretzel bites, then those pretzel bites are around $6.50 or if you want candy and soda together with them it's about $20. We went to see the movie goat. The surround sound and the view from the middle of the theater was great! The bathrooms were pretty tidy. The parking lot had enough room for everyone. One of the best finds was a Photo Booth that had a printout with goat themed multi picture view as a souvenir you can get. The Photo Booth takes credit cards or exact change cash. It's $8

So I got my cake mixing bowl and headed to this location. Most theatres have $5 fill up any bowl/purse/bookbag, or Lowe's bucket you have. The staff was great about it and even wanted to fill up the bag I had the bowl in. LOL! I got there in a flash, as the traffic was not that bad and parking was ample. I was happy to get there early enough for an hour to chill before the next showing, and I just played on my phone, and people watched for 50 mins, but they had arcade games if you got kiddos. I had a great seat for the show, but there was a guy who smelled like an ashtray, and I was like, LORD, I am the only one over here in row E. This was something that I should addressed and moved somewhere else. Next time. My ticket was free, so I could not complain too much. Sent was comfy, and the acoustics were great! 4 stars!

The theater wasn't full, so we were able to put coats, bags, etc on an empty seat. I don't go to the movies often (less than once a year), so I'm still impressed by reclining comfy seats and the huge concessions options. I did choose a frozen treat ($6) which was slightly freezerburned and of course over priced. We also smuggled some other food/drinks in which wasn't even difficult to do. Others near us had full fast food dinners and brought in blankets. There's currently some construction at the entrance, which might make accessibility difficult.

Lots of parking. Food was also ordered online in advance. It was all fresh and ready around the same time. We had chicken tenders, vegan impossible nuggets, waffle fries, icees, pop, and of course popcorn. They had commemorative Yoshi popcorn holder figures for the new Mario Galaxy movie. Lines moved fast, staff were polite, and the temperature was good. The seats were large cushy recliners in good shape. Wheelchair users should plan to sit in back or walk down the steps as there is room to leave the chair safely out of the way (which one of our number did) as it's all stairs down the aisle. It was a fun time out.

For our visit, they were showing the silent version of The Phantom of the Opera with a live orchestra. This was our first visit to this theater so we got there early to look around. There is a convenient parking garage located directly behind the theater and if you remember to ask, they will validate your parking ticket for $2.00 (we did not remember to do this so we paid $11.50 for three hours!!). They were showing this film on Halloween night, which was also a Friday night, so the University District was hopping! It was fun to walk around and see all of the costumes and various parties going on before heading into see our movie. Since this was a special showing it cost us around $55.00 for our tickets, but we ordered them in advance and were able to pick the seats we wanted. They allowed everyone inside the theater 15 minutes early, so there was quite a long line waiting once we were near the theater door. We saw others carrying soda and popcorn, but couldn't figure out where the concessions stand was! We were barely able to figure out where to find the bathrooms, so we gave up on the popcorn once the door opened for the movie. Once the door was opened, we went in and found our seats. Very comfy seats!!! We sat in the fifth row, so the screen was higher than our seats, but oh so cozy. The show was fantastic, the live orchestra did a smashing job! Very enjoyable visit!!
