It's a very unique way to see the lights. The Bandos provide an excellent safety briefing (stay on the roads) and take great care to salt and clear the road for us. Upon driving 1.5 miles into the park to reach the fest, we saw some nice park pavilions with hosted parties. Made a mental note that it's a great location for an outdoor party! Scenic, fun to spot wildlife (we saw turkeys!) and easily reached from the highway. It was our first time visiting the folk music festival and, on a gorgeous sunny day, we couldn't have asked for more. Friendly volunteers, gorgeous green open area, talented musicians throughout the 2-day event, a handful of great vendors and food choices, and awesome kid's crafts. It's family and dog-friendly. It's not crowded nor overpriced. I look forward to visiting next year!

The Columbus Folk Music Society partners with Metro Parks to present a 3 day hootenany of banjo pickin', old time country songs and folksy jam sessions. Friday night kicks the event off with a potluck dinner and the "world's worst song' contest. If you've got a really bad song in ya, you could possibly win a major award! Saturday and Sunday brings workshops, concerts and gospel sings. If you are a fan of bluegrass or folk music, I'd highly recommend checking out this festival for at least a day. The show, set to a custom music track accessed on 87.9 FM, lasts for 7 minutes, and you can circle around as many times as you want during the open hours. It is free, with optional donation (donations go to Peace for Paws Ohio). We ended up looping around five times to fully enjoy checking out the various pieces - it's fun to see the dancing lights on the trees in the forest and all sorts of neat holiday and character elements. The kid was a big fan of the Baby Yoda by the stream in particular. The show runs from Black Friday through January 1. It is a one way loop due to the narrowness of the street - be sure to pay attention to the signage. A terrific option for checking out some holiday lights!

The entertainment is always changing and occasionally food, vendors and sponsors switch, but it is easy to navigate once you have gone a timer or two and know where things are. The festival brings in some of the most talented Irish entertainers from around the world, and I have found some of my new favorite artists from attending. There are clean bathrooms with handwashing stations and hydration stations for filling up your water.

The Daily Chores sculpture is one of the must-see public art pieces in Dublin, Ohio. This city has…read morea surprisingly large number of sculptures located all around town, and trying to hit them all was one of the highlights of my visit to Dublin. (If you visit dublinarts.org, you'll find a list of the public artworks and where they're located.) This sculpture is located in the historic district, right at the corner of Bridge and High Streets. You really can't miss it -- just look for the brick area on the corner. According to Dublin's art website, this piece was inspired by the town water pump that sat in the middle of the intersection in the early 1900s, which served as a source of water and a figurative "water cooler" where the townspeople would meet and catch up. The bronze and stone statues represent that time in Dublin's history.

It was…read moredesigned to commemorate the old water pump that used to exist nearby, right in the middle of the road, where people would gather to get their water and chat. The Dublin Ohio webpage has some neat historic photos of this bit of inspiration, in addition to photos of the process of creation of the existing art piece, which is very interesting for those who enjoy history or art. The pump finally had to be retired when a motorist hit it - that new fangled invention, the car, was incompatible with the placement. Hopefully, the sculpture, with a location on the sidewalk/small plaza type area will be safer from such a fate!

Coffee was amazing, not to sweet, plenty of flavor and a great start to my morning. The slice of quiche was impressive and it was delicious after warming up and enjoying at work.
