I took my #1 guitar in for a setup and Nik did a great job. The guitar played like a dream and it was ready sooner than promised. I have also bought two pianos there (Yamaha P22 new and Yamaha C3 used). The C3 needed a little work after it was delivered and Strait took care of it no questions asked. I've been a customer of Strait music for decades and have nothing but good things to say about the store (I typically go to the South location) and the Strait family.

A bit costly but I'm certain the manufacturers set market prices. I would like to see some off brands too.

Guy on the phone was super rude to my mom. Told her to google her question and hung up on her. Not very nice.

Its important to tune a piano after a move and on other occasions such as: 1- When a piano is not played, the strings will gradually stretch with the passage of time and the piano will fall out of tune. Pianos need regular tuning at least once a year to keep them up to pitch and playing the correct notes. 2- When fluctuations in temperature and humidity occur which cause the wooden parts of the piano to expand and contract, affecting string tension. 3- When a piano is not tuned regularly. Pianos get set in their ways as they age. A piano that hasn't been tuned in a long time will go out of tune again very quickly. Pianos are temperamental and should be tuned at least once per year. I like to think of a piano like a car in that, cars require regular tune ups, oil changes etc. Brian showed up on time, was efficient and gave some great tips on piano care. If you are seeking an honest and reliable piano tuner, Brian is the best bet! Total for tuning: 205.68 #supportlocal

Since their gallery is fairly close to my home, I called them and asked if they moved pianos within a home. They do provide this service, and I hired them to move my piano. I found the movers to be very knowledgeable about my piano. In addition, they were very careful and professional. I'm so happy I chose them. If you need to have a piano moved, consider calling Steinway first.

I guess I'll be the first to put in a good word for this piano gallery. Before I went, I had research a bit about pianos. I read that Steinway was elite, superior, etc., etc. Of course, any company looking to lure in prospective customers will give that pitch. It wasn't until I actually took some time to go to the gallery that I saw: it's not just a sales pitch! It was refreshingly true. The gallery is open, but still has a lot of pianos and good varieties of pianos and keyboards alike. The gallery is thouroughly organized with an open room for upright, baby grand, and grand pianos that are not Steinways (such as Yamaha or Kawai), a room exclusively for Steinways, a back room for recitals complete with concert Steinway grands (painstakingly beautiful instruments... drool...), and a room for electronic keyboard and such. Nice! There was no confusion as to where anything was located. Stars, stars, and more stars for that, Steinway Gallery! The service was also excellent. I went in and tested out a few pianos to compare sounds. After a short while, the manager himself (Matthew Bird) spent a great deal of time to explain EVERYTHING about the pianos- I mean everything. He explained the manufacturing and how it affects the sound, the country of origins, the different brands and their unique idiosyncrasies, what truly makes Steinway pianos the most elite, and even told stories about how the wood itself is chosen for different pianos. He spent a good hour and a half (if not MORE) explaining all of the questions I had. He even test-played the pianos for me (because I am a bit shy test-playing them myself). He was kind, talkative, and patient. He showed me the recital room (there was a recital in progress so I couldn't test the insane 9 foot concert grands... Oh well) and the Steinway room. I was able to test out several Steinways and he explained the years when they were built and how each might sound different due to its make. Very, very thorough. I didn't feel odd or pressured to purchase anything at all. I also didn't feel watched or uncomfortable. I don't think anybody in the store did; there were other people in the store testing pianos, which is actually uncommon in many music stores these days, sadly. So even though the gallery may look intimidatingly elite and expensive, I found it to be a very relaxed place that conducts business with dignity, patience, and concern for the customers' needs and questions. I definitely would like to go there again and I walked away understanding the make of pianos and Steinways much better.

He teaches piano in his own personal studio located at his house. The atmosphere is comforting and allows you to learn with no distractions. Mr. Wilson is great for any level of piano skill. I started as a beginner but he also teaches intermediate, advanced and anything in between! During my time there, he worked with me on music theory, and I participated in yearly music theory tests at the University of Texas at Austin. I learned many songs including The Moonlight Sonata by Beethoven, and The Entertainer by Scott Joplin to name a few. He focused a lot of the lesson on technique and sight reading, all very important skills, but he would make things fun and let me pick a song I wanted to learn and help me learn that! However, I think one of the greatest thing about Mr. Wilson is his flexibility. If I wasn't able to make a lesson, he was always willing to reschedule. His pricing is very affordable. I know he gives discounts for group lessons as well. Overall, I highly reccommend him for a private piano tutor!
