I just moved to Exeter recently and was looking for a new vet. I called Douglassville Veterinary…read moreHospital and was able to make an appointment within just a few days, which was perfect as it was not an emergency. The 2 ladies I spoke to on the phone to make the appointment were very nice. I got there early to fill out paperwork since it was my first time there. My appointment was at 7, and we were taken back shortly thereafter. Dr. Quinn and the assistant were great! I gave them a brief history on my cat, and then they checked her out quick and took care of an ingrown nail which is why I had made the appointment for her. On the way out I had a nice chat with some of the front desk people too. Overall a very pleasant experience. The place was clean, professional looking, and everyone was super nice. I will definitely continue going here for my current and future pets!

They forced me to switch to prescription food he hated, and guess what? He kept vomiting. I brought him back, and suddenly they find masses in his belly. They pushed me into an expensive ultrasound and convinced me to aspirate a mass for cancer testing, claiming the results were fine. Next thing I know, my cat is bleeding internally and dies. This is beyond unacceptable. Horrible and I'll never forgive them.

She did end up passing a week later. Staff and the doctor were nice UNTIL I needed them to be compassionate the most. Staff had told me the soonest they could get my hamster in when she was being extremely lethargic following surgery and stopped moving. They told me she would be okay to wait. The day that she passed I called, worried, because of a noise she was making while I was holding her. The receptionist was very rude to me. I was holding my hamster for her last breaths and got a snappy response from the person I talked to when asking if what I saw happening was an emergency and if I should get her somewhere before her scheduled appointment. Not okay at all. I'm sorry to all of the others I see had this kind of experience. It's really messed up.

He had severe pain with arthritis in his paw. Took him there to end his suffering and couldn't get in with my vet. The entire time 2 dogs were fighting, barking and being screamed at to "shut up" while my poor cat was terrified and dying not being able to go in peace. I had extra concerns because of her age (thanks Covid) but she's healing up way quicker than I thought she would. I think her scar is less than a human would get during surgery too. I can't recommend them enough for the amazing work that they do.

BUYER BEWARE, This "clinic" is a LITERAL back-alley…read morespay/neuter mill. They'll undoubtedly want you to keep that cell phone on like they state in their paperwork. Not in case of an emergency, but so they can hike the price on you. This is what they did to me. I dropped off, and within 27 minutes was contacted to say that our 4 month old kitten had "the worst umbilical hernia they'd ever seen," and so it would be more than the price range laid out in the contract. No explanations given, of course, because the most severe umbilical hernias are either emergent, or require a little more work than just pushing everything back into the hole. That is why they advertise a sliding scale. I guess they don't realize that some people work with animals for a living too. Didn't expect that we know anything I am sure. Can't imagine (check the reviews...) how many other people they have taken advantage of. So the charge was agreed to, because at this point we were already charged, had waited months for the appointment, and our kitten was already there (for hours by the point I got her back - I had to leave work to do so). How traumatic! And the exposure to other animals?! Well apparently the receptionist didn't appreciate that I told her this is disingenuous, and a poor way to do business. NEVER a raised voice or curse word was uttered, this is important. I am working too, it pays to be professional and simply nice. Apparently the DVM didn't appreciate me being upset about the egregious UPcharge that I still agreed to anyway, and told me "come get your cat we will not be servicing you at any time." That's right, my kitten with this "worst ever" umbilical hernia was refused treatment because of someone who cannot manage their feelings, that is not my problem clearly it is yours. Are you kidding me?? I have about had it with this string of Veterinary establishments who put money, and ego, above the animals. It is getting very tiring. With my wife having been an animal care professional for 15 years, we cannot in good conscience recommend this grifter. We know that there are unforeseen circumstances that may involve more supplies/funds, that is why a sliding scale (a SPECIFICALLY PRICED ONE) was on the contract. You can't just change the agreed upon amount on an already signed contract without some kind of addendum (the contract was physically changed, more on that). I'd love to have more information about the supposed severity of my cats health condition seeing as you are a vet. Her hernia is SO severe, and detrimental that you just sent her home without any more information? In fact, we had to fight (read I had to request a POLICE OFFICER be dispatched - they threatened to call on me when I wouldn't leave without due proof of the situation even going so far as to say (the DVM here) that "you'll get exactly what you deserve" he was unclear as to whether that was a threat when asked, so I handled that for them by calling myself) just to get proof of refund (whenever that will come through) and to get back my executable contract which is no longer valid. I was given a marked up COPY with no signature note by me indicating agreement to this scale, it is simply written in. No change order of any kind. Putting my not yet vaccinated kitten in undue risk is just for someone to get all up in their feels about a "meany" on the phone. Some intelligent person there even spilled coffee on her carrier. I am standing here, and as I am scribing this I realized we very likely dodged a bullet. Better to get my money AND my cat back alive. (For any worried readers our cat is just fine, if she were showing signs of constriction she would have been at a REAL vet. Umbilical hernias are extremely common. SO common they include the repair in spay procedures routinely. My wifes' review has an image attached of the marked up contract, that is a load of something. Oh and when they brought out my cat finally and then my refund papers they left them both over 10' from my car.

I am beyond disappointed with Gilbertsville Veterinary Hospital and will never return…read more What they did to me is a literal bait and switch -- and I have the proof in writing. They texted me saying they couldn't refill my cats' Chewy prescription food because my cat was overdue for an exam, and that I simply needed to schedule a wellness visit. Nowhere did they indicate they no longer fill digital prescriptions for outside pharmacies. Their exact text: "Good morning! We received your request from Chewy for Leo's urinary diet, however we have to decline it due to Leo being overdue for his exam. There has to be a doctor-client-patient-relationship established within a year to be able to approve this. We would be happy to schedule a wellness visit with you! Please give us a call with any questions and to schedule. Thank you, have a good day!" So, I complied. I scheduled an appointment, spent over $300 for a routine checkup and a couple vaccines, and during the visit they even asked me directly if my cats were on prescription food. I confirmed they were. Yet at NO point did anyone disclose that they had stopped providing digital prescriptions to outside pharmacies like Chewy. Instead, I only found out afterward (once they had my money) when Chewy's second request was denied a week later and I was told I'd have to physically pick up a written script or use their in-house pharmacy. That's not miscommunication. That's deliberate, manipulative, and designed to back customers into a corner so they're forced to buy from the hospital's pharmacy. When I expressed my dissatisfaction in response to their email where they once again denied my digital prescription, the only response I got was a canned text saying my written prescriptions were ready for pickup. No apology. No acknowledgment. No accountability. On top of the dishonesty, the staff are cold and unhelpful. This is not just bad customer service, it's unethical business practices. It should be illegal. They took my money under false pretenses and withheld critical information that directly affected my ability to care for my pets. Pet owners deserve transparency, honesty, and compassion. You won't find that here.

We went to SVH with him, and Dr Sharma had him cured with one round of medication after several months of back and forth with another vet. He caught my 2 boy cats heart mummers very early which lead to us medicating their genetic heart conditions as early as possible. Dr Sharma is a very good vet, who listens to you and takes your questions and feedback into consideration. We've had a resoundingly consistent, positive experience with this practice. The only serious complaint I have about them is that there is always a wait, weather I'm picking up meds or brining in a pet for an appointment, but I would rather get the best care for my pets, and have to wait a bit. I highly recommend this practice to anyone with a pet.

I may sound like a crazy cat lady -- but our Rex was injured and developed an abscess. I did everything I could to keep it clean, but it was getting worse and I was terrified. At 4:30 on a Tuesday night, with limited funds, I started calling everywhere. Urgent Vet was the only place that told me to come right over. I cannot even describe the relief in that moment. They got us in immediately, which meant more than I can express. We still need to follow up with a primary vet since they're urgent care only, but the care we received on Tuesday, February 10th was exceptional. The young tech/veterinary nurse who handled our intake (I'm so sorry I forgot her name!) answered every single "crazy" question with patience, kindness, and zero judgment. The vet came in and explained everything in detail so we fully understood what was happening, what needed to be done, and what to expect next. That reassurance meant the world when we were feeling overwhelmed and scared. And to the techs in the back -- the ones we didn't have the opportunity to thank personally -- thank you for watching over our guy and keeping him safe under sedation. That trust is everything. This morning I woke up to my Rex being loving and affectionate again instead of hiding because he was in pain. Seeing him comfortable and acting like himself again says more than words ever could. When you're worried about your pet, that level of compassion and professionalism makes all the difference. Thank you to the entire team for treating Rex -- and me -- and my daughter with outstanding care. More importantly for your compassion. Forever grateful If you ever find yourself needing urgent care for your four-legged baby, please take them here. I promise you won't regret it. Forever grateful.

Honestly, hands down the worst experience I've ever had at any emergency vet. I went in because my…read moredog had a second seizure (one in Paris and one at home) within a week, due to the stopping of medication. My dog has had a history of seizures, since a puppy and has been diagnosed for that by MULTIPLE vets. I typically take her to BluePearl, but because the aftermath of this seizure was worse than others, I chose to go here because it was 25 minutes closer to me. Keep in mind, I also informed them that she did THROW UP. I explained the situation at hand with the doctor and she was completely and utterly dismissive of the actual issue at hand, because she was convinced it was not a seizure, and "marijuana intake," instead. I told her she typically DOES act like that, AFTER her seizures bc I brought her in 2 hours after the seizure occurred. She still says "doesn't look like a seizure" and proceeded to ask to do a drug test. I agreed, just to prove my point. It came back NEGATIVE lol, not surprised! She was still convinced it was marijuana intake, when I told this woman WE HAVE NO MARIJUANA IN THE HOUSE, but only medical THC tinctures that are kept in a cabinet up and away. I showed this doctor woman a video, of how she acts AFTER her seizures, so she has a better understanding that this is her NORMAL behavior, but she dismissed that as well, saying "it doesn't look like a seizure." LADY??? How many times do I have to explain this is hours AFTER her seizure? They refused to give my dog any treatment for the seizure, due to it "not being a seizure," so they couldn't treat her. They told me her blood pressure was "extremely low" and did nothing about that. They offered fluids and I asked if that will help with her behavior at hand, due to the seizure and was told "no it won't help a seizure. It's to flush marijuana or any toxins out there body." Once again, SHE DIDN'T CONSUME MARIJUANA, SHE HAS EPILEPSY, so I denied the flush because there is nothing to flush out. I paid and left, took her immediately to BluePearl, where it was confirmed, yet AGAIN that it was due to another seizure. BluePearl also informed me that she had an extremely low heart rate, along with a very low body temp, but that her blood pressure was fine. I was given the CORRECT treatment at BluePearl and was able to inject her with seizure medication there (what urgentvet REFUSED). In result, the summary from my visit I received was wrong. I NEVER said "marijuana" was in our household and I actually said the complete opposite of "she was just acting differently than how she normally acts after a seizure." It said in the summary, she did NOT vomit, but I told the doctor 2x that she DID. Also states that, I showed her a video of the seizure, when I've said MANY times, that is the AFTERMATH of the seizure and not the actual seizure itself (in the video). They told me her BLOOD PRESSURE was low, when it was indeed her heart rate and body temp decreasing, while her blood pressure was perfectly fine, thank gosh for BluePearl for confirming. Not sure why the doctor was so ignorant and narrow minded, relaying everything I said completely incorrectly, due to her tunnel vision on the "marijuana intake" theory she had made up for herself. So glad, BluePearl was able to give her the treatment she needed RIGHT away, instead of being left high and dry with no treatment like Urgentvet. Get rid of that one woman doctor because everyone else there is fine!!
