Michelle went above and beyond to give me great customer service! I rented a Uhaul here ofor a move…read moreto New Orleans. After I picked up the truck I noticed it made a very loud squealing sound. I don't know much about engines, however I assumed that it would be fine and went ahead and met my husband at the storage facility. We loaded the truck and then my husband heard the noise coming from the engine. He was deeply concerned that the truck wouldn't make the long drive to Louisiana. I called Chapel Creek and asked them what to do. Michelle answered and told me to call the 800 number on the keychain. So I did and they sent a mechanic out to look at the truck. The man arrived about an hour later and he then proceeded to diagnose the truck with 1 of 4 possible issues. At this point I was really started to suffer from anxiety, as I couldn't get stranded in the middle of the bayou for an hour if the truck broke down! I then asked him about getting another truck and he said he would call it in to the Home Office and they would need to make the call on how we should proceed. By this time it was 4pm and we were leaving the next morning at 5am, I didn't need to deal with red tape I needed a solution! So I called Michelle again at Chapel Creek and voiced my frustration to her. She immediately called her Area Manager and he contacted me within 10 minutes. He said Michelle had called him and told me of my problem. He had gone ahead and secured another truck for me and told me it was very close to where I was located. He apologized for the inconvenience and said there would be no fee because my issue was considered an emergency. My husband and I drive to the other location, unloaded and loaded the new truck and they expedited my paperwork so we could get out of there quickly. We drove it to New Orleans in the other truck and actually made great time! And I didn't have one worry the whole way! Michelle even called me the night I got home and made sure I was safe and sound! What great service and follow through! Very impressed with the integrity of the folks over at Chapel Creek!! Thank you very much!

We were also thrilled to get a unit near the door and to be the 1st ones in this new unit. A BIG THANK YOU to Mandy for all of her help getting us moved in. She was kind and patient when we called her multiple times during our move in day to help us with a variety of things. I arrived this afternoon to move items into my interior…read moreclimate controlled unit - but the unit was super dark and filthy with rat poison in one corner. I immediately went to the onsite office to see if another (clean, well lit) unit was available, but the office was locked and no one was there even though the website claims property management is on site AND they knew what time I was coming. I called twice and left two messages requesting call back asap, waiting at the site for 30 minutes (it's been 7 hours and no one ever called me). I ended up going to Extra Space Storage and the difference was night and day! Staff was available for me to come look at their units immediately and the units were well lit and CLEAN. Don't waste your time with this place. Go to Extra Space Storage.

I do not recommend this place. My son and I drove in to get a few things out of a storage unit…read more Everything was going fine until we tried to leave. The way the exit is set up makes it difficult to punch in your code and then make it out of the gate quickly. It's set up where you have to punch in the code, make a sharp right turn, then a sharp left turn to get out, and the whole time you're trying not to hit anything. So we punched in the code, the gate arm went up, we started driving out, and then all the sudden the arm came down onto the hood of my truck. It actually hit my truck. We backed up. Within 10 seconds a guy came rushing out yelling at me, saying we hit the gate. I couldn't believe he was saying "WE" hit the gate. Their gate closed onto my vehicle, not the other way around. Then a lady (apparently the manager) came out and we went around and around as to who was at fault. They were pushing extremely hard on me to accept that we were at fault. It felt strange, but I didn't realize what they were doing. They said we would have to pay them $100; however, not only was it not our fault, there was no damage to their gate. They also said they may contact their corporate office and that they take these things very serious. I made it very clear that I wasn't going to pay them anything and that we did nothing wrong. Then all of the sudden their behavior towards me completely changed. They were shaking my hand, smiling, joking, and offered us water and candy. The lady even complimented my muscles out of the blue, which is just not something normal people do. It all felt odd. What they were doing still didn't register in my mind (I'm too trusting and naive I guess). However, later I realized that they were trying to extort money out of me by using psychological tactics to pressure me. The problem is that I can't prove this, but I am absolutely certain that this is what they were doing. Also, they had this routine down (it was actually impressive) like they have done this to other people before. I'm not a lawyer, but according to Google, extortion of $100 in Texas carries a fine of up to $2000 and 180 days in jail. Also, I have a disability, so that's an aggravating factor that bumps it up to a Class A misdemeanor, which carries a fine up to $4000 and a year in jail. I doubt anyone will ever be able to prove their intent behind what they are doing, but I wholeheartedly believe they knew exactly what they were doing and it's wrong. Very wrong. I know it can be hard to get by financially sometimes, but we can't resort to trying to exploit each other. It's really despicable. I strongly recommend people avoid this place.
