I started off paying around $35-40/mo for a unit to it now being $178!!!! I have never been informed of the increases, they just keep raising the rent for no apparent reason. No reason a storage unit should cost this much or increase in price $30-40 every year. I don't even have electric or a temperature controlled unit, just a basic unit. I'd look elsewhere.

My larger unit is increasing 89dollars per for next month and that is on top of the over 149 dollars for that unit over last few years... I am fed up... and not.to mention that same size unit if I were to rent it today as a new customer would be less than half of the cost per month than my current rate for a period of time... before the new increase... so retaining customers is not their business model, catching suckers they can bilk for more over time is the new norm... got it... stay away from this corporation and especially my location in sellersburg indiana...

Red Dot, now known as Storage American fails miserably. My grown daughter was storing her furniture and household goods between selling one house and buying another. I'm retired, so I was involved in the move to, and the move from Red Dot. One recent late morning I tried to get into the facility to look for a particular item we had stored. Our access number would not work. I tried it repeatedly with no success. I called my daughter and explained the situation. I relayed the phone number posted on the building, as there is no personnel on property. She called the posted number and spoke with a guy in Brownstown IN. Saying the man on the line was a hair more responsive than a corpse is being generous. This guy gives us two more codes to try. Nothing worked. He then states there must be something wrong with the pad itself. He goes on to say it will be 24 to 48 hours before it will be fixed. Keep in mind we had movers scheduled for 4 days later to move out of the facility. I ask if there's anybody local that can get us in. He replies not that he knows of. So I then ask how they would get in for an emergency. He states "I don't know". My daughter asked him to email her when the pad is fixed. He stated he would let her know. That's been a week ago and we have not heard from them. I then called the general customer service number listed on line. Spoke with a young lady. She told me the Jeffersonville Storage Facility had employees on site and they were "in charge" of Sellersburg facility. She also told me the Jeffersonville people can get us in. The young lady then gave me the number to Jeffersonville, but did not have a name of contact. I called the supplied number. It rang numerous times and went to voice mail. I left a message describing our situation and asked for a return call. That was a week ago. We have received absolutely no contact whatsoever from these people. Yesterday morning we moved out of the facility. When I pulled up to the pad yesterday, I held my breath wondering if we'd get in. I had movers we were paying by the hour parked right behind me. Fortunately we did get in and are done with these clowns.

That's with us throwing boxes and items in four loads worth of cars to save time. the price I expected to pay at the time of booking ended being only a quarter of the cost I paid. and then they encouraged us to tip them on top of it. They came late meaning we didnt get a good start to the move until after noon. they came with two guys but one guy did pretty much all the work. they knocked chunks out of the wall of the old place that I know is going to come out of my security deposit. they shrink wrapped and blanketed every thing whether it was needed or not and charged for how much they used. I'm talking a few extra hundred dollars worth of supplies that the quote had said would be included. over all I expected to pay maybe $600 and then ended up paying 1500+ since it took them the entire day to make the move
