My experience with this company is abysmal to say the least I have been a customer years and since this company purchase my storage company property, which was previously owned by a more regional company, when public storage purchased my local self storage property location, my rental cost immediately increased and has been increasing for my units ever since, usually every 4 to 6 months incremental increases for my spaces... but this is making me fighting mad now... My larger unit is increasing 89dollars per for next month and that is on top of the over 149 dollars for that unit over last few years... I am fed up... and not.to mention that same size unit if I were to rent it today as a new customer would be less than half of the cost per month than my current rate for a period of time... before the new increase... so retaining customers is not their business model, catching suckers they can bilk for more over time is the new norm... got it... stay away from this corporation and especially my location in sellersburg indiana... read more

I store a little camper in the back lot. Always accessible (except the time I was inside after 9:00 pm and couldn't get out until I called). Safe location. The rate increases for no reason aren't good. I wish companies would stop fleecing their customers but I can promise you the days of brand loyalty are over. I will always be shopping for a better rate. read more

Beware of bait and switch. They advertise a low price and then when you move all your stuff in - BAM!! 6 months later they raise the rates 30.6%. Talk about bait and switch. I cannot ever get anyone at the office to answer the phone. And after being there for a year or so my price doubled.

6 months in they raised the rate $50. That to me is unacceptable and I won't be keeping anything with them moving forward.

Very nice and friendly to work with. The unit I rented was a climate control unit and inside it was very clean. Was impressed by the customer service I received on how to check into my unit and the guy at the counter was very friendly and helpful on describing what and where I need to go to get to my unit. If you're looking for storage, go somewhere else. Most Public Storage require you to buy a lock you can't use anywhere else. They don't pro-rate moving out early, so if you don't move out before the charge hits, you're bound to another month. The light in front of my unit was non-functional for 4 months. I complained three times and then call the regional manager to complain it finally got fixed. On-site manager is rude and slow. Terrible customer service. Raising rates every 6-months without any improvements or services added. I had to rent for a year while my house was being built and in the end I was paying double what I started out at. There was a leak from somewhere in the divider of the unit. When they looked at the roof and above the divider they could not find where is was coming from. They had to look from the top opening of my unit and saw a pack of the rodent poison they have in every unit and claimed it was a cold pack that was leaking. I said that was their rodent poison pack and it wasn't coming from that. I suggested the unit next to mine must of has something and sure enough, they had a bucket of Damp Rid that had tip over. I had insurance through my insurance company. Which was much cheaper than theirs. That covered the damage thankfully to my items that were in there. They added a curfew of 9pm since taking ownership from previous owner. Ridiculous. They claim that to be courteous of neighbors. No one lives there, what neighbors? I will be looking for new location. read more

So far I'm impressed with Public Storage. I was moving back from Europe so there were a few hiccups getting my reservation confirmed initially. The prices for the units can change daily based on availability and demand, so secure your unit fast and double check the cost of similar units prior to signing the forms. When I got there, Ted got everything settled for me and worked with me to get a good price and the best unit for the items I was having shipped. He was very professional and even took the time to show me other units similar to the one I reserved so I could decide what would work best. I did have a problem setting up my online account, but was able to apply the bill pay option through my bank without any issues. I'll update with any changes, but so far it's been great! read more

We stored a camper in one of the outside spaces and after two days of camping, they cancelled our space!?!. Luckily we did not come back the night they cancelled otherwise I suspect our code would not have worked. When I called the next day they asked that we let them know when we were camping "for our protection". I don't even know what that means! I told them we would let them know if we wanted to terminate the contract but the gal I talked to said if the space was empty for 24 to 48 hours that they would cancel the account and asked that we call them every time we go camping, even just leave a message on the answering machine. Again I asked "can we not do that please?" to which the response was "no" and again it was "for our protection". What the heck? When you have a camper, generally you are going to go camping and the space will be empty for a bit. Found a locally owned storage spot which got us in right away. When I asked the new company if we needed to let them know when we were camping and the space would be empty, the gal at the new place kind of laughed, confused and said "what? a no." The worse experience I have ever had with storage! When I moved back to Indiana from Florida I had to get a storage until I found a place to call home. I went to the Sellersburg location to rent a unit on Dec. 6, 2016. My receipt was printed at 12:19:34 pm. I told Dashneigh that I would be back with my moving truck, the ones helping me unload the truck and my lock (my lock was on the truck) in about ab hour. She said that would be fine, but she would have to leave their lock on until then. Which was okay. But when we ALL returned with the truck to be unloaded Dashneigh was not there. I thought maybe she was on lunch, check for a time of return sign.......NOTHING! We sat and sat and sat waiting. Other customers coming and going to pay their bills, but could not.......most all said they were going to get their thing out of this storage as soon as they could. I started calling customer service #'s........most of the time not being able to talk to anyone, because the mail boxes were full. Did finally get to talk to one CSR and said he was calling an area manager and that the manager would be their to let us in. We sat and sat some more. Mean while I am adding up how much more I am having to pay my movers and the cost of my truck being returned late!! NO MANAGER EVER SHOWED UP TO TAKE THEIR LOCK OFF THE UNIT!! I got a hold of another CSR and they gave me a few #'s to call in which one was the district manager named Steven and one for the regional manager named Nick. No one would answer nor did I get a call back EVER!!. Well it got dark and was very cold so we called it a day and night. We decided to come back in the morning. When I went home made a few more calls.......no one acted like they could help me. Next morning got up started calling the Sellersburg #, no one answered and voice box was full. DO THEY EVER EVEN LISTEN TO THE MESSAGES???!!! So I started calling all numbers I had been given including CSR, district manager, regional manger, the districts assistant and another guy named Steve Onconksy (spelling??). FINALLY I got a hold of one of the CSR's that I had spoke to the day before and he couldn't believe it and was very apologetic. He put me on hold and come back and said he had gotten a hold of one of the managers and to go ahead up to the storage and this so called manager would meet us there. I was out the door with-in 10 mins. and on my way there. No one was there AGAIN. But I told the people moving me he probably had to come from another town or Louisville. NO ONE EVER SHOWED UP AGAIN!!! I start calling all of the "important" numbers that I had been given and I just got the run around. In fact one lady tried to put all the blame on me and that is where I lost it!! I had to put her in her place and told her that I was going to cut the lock off the unit. WHICH IS WHAT WE HAD TO DO! By the time the WHOLE day went by we got the lock off and had to unload the truck in the dark in freezing cold weather. I also lost some of my movers as they had prior engagements and I had to lift very heavy furniture and boxes.......I have had 3 back surgeries. degenerative disc disease, Lupus and other health illnesses. Had to feed some to keep them there! I finally got the truck back to the drop off point around midnight.....just had to drop it off. It is now February 4, 2017 and still have not had a call back or any compensation.......I have emailed a complaint and called through out this time. STILL no acknowledgement of my woes with the company. I did how ever talk to a gentleman at the Sellersburg office that told me that there was nothing he could do and that the company was so large they don't care and wouldn't probably compensate me in any way.
