Great supply depot for professional pilots, at the DTW terminal. The store employees are very helpful and courteous.

They had complimentary water, coffee, juice or soda. They had choices of three snacks: chocolate cookie, pretzels or fruit bar. I always get a chocolate cookie and cranberry juice. The flight attendants also went up and down the aisles multiple times and offered water and orange juice. This was one of their older and smaller planes, so no screen on the back of the seats. You need to use your phone or iPad. They do offer complimentary movies and shows from their app.

Our first flight was a direct flight from Detroit, Michigan to Frankfurt, Germany (10hr flight). The overall flight was pleasant initially until we had to land. Our next flight was scheduled by United Airlines with one their partners Discover Airlines which took off at 4:45am. Mind you the flight to Frankfurt wasn't supposed to land until 6:15am. What was so frustrating in this moment was that our connecting flight was originally supposed to leave at 8:30am giving us ample time to get from Frankfurt to Chania, Crete. The unfortunate and most frustrating part of this was that we were not updated of the change and we were completely stuck in a foreign country where it was not pleasant getting a rescheduled flight to Athens, Greece. The online help in rebooking us on the flight was great but yet again we almost missed the connecting flight from Athens, Greece to Chania, Crete due to a late departure and barely 20 minutes to depart a 300 person plane (we were at the back). Somehow we made it and were able to board our flight to Chania, Crete to start our honeymoon. The experience there was breathtaking and I'd recommend going to anyone...just not through United Airlines or their partners as if there is a booking issue they point at the other airline and state it is their fault, no responsibility is taken and they give you a $100 voucher for your wasted time, rebooked flights, and refund your checked bags. My time is worth more than $100 which I cannot get back. With the delays we arrived 5 hours later than expected. Luckily our bags somehow arrived. We thought that this was the end....but we were wrong. On October 21, 2025 we flew home through our flight from Chania, Crete to Athens, Greece. We left on time and made it to Athens. We made our second flight from Athens to IAD in Washington D.C. We made it to the US! It took 15 minutes to reach the gate where another plane landed 15 minutes late and thus we ended up sitting for 45 minutes before we could even deboard. We had to deboard, go through U.S. customs and reclaim our bags. This is where our nightmare began. The baggage we thought and were told to pickup after going through customs was supposed to be at baggage carrier 3. We waited. And waited but our bags never showed up. Why you ask? Well that's because they went to Frankfurt, Germany where who the hell knows why. We never had a connection there and United blamed it on their partner Lufthansa. Either way we had no bags, no connecting flight cause mind you we had 1 hour to get through customs, grab the bags, go through security, and reach a gate on the other side of the airport. Well we missed it of course and the nerve of this airline blaming it on TSA agents. That's when my nerve broke and I started to lose my cool. Well we demanded they rebook us and of course there were no more direct flights to Detroit for that day. So it was either stay the night and wait for a flight the next day or take a connection to Chicago which then connected to Detroit. Well we decided that route. Mind you we arrived on time in Chicago but of course the terminal was on the other side 18 minute walk. We made it just in time 5 minutes to boarding. We boarded and made it to Detroit at 11:48pm October 21, 2025. Our baggage never arrived and is scheduled to hopefully arrive today at 3:09pm and delivered to our home. This was the worst international flight experience my wife and I ever had. In the future we will be taking direct flights and if I can avoid United or their partners I will do such that.

I've traveled all major airlines and I have to say by far Delta is the best. From the ambience on the plane to the entertainment. Overall most aspects of my flights have been very pleasing. I will say the one opportunity I see is customer service. I worked for a company that prioritizes customer service and safety. I am very in tune with the delicate balance between the two. Having flown Delta for several years and prior to retiring I was diamond with them. I will say my customer service experience has been about 50-50. On our last trip, we flew from Phoenix to Miami with a layover in Detroit. We enjoy the fact that they have entertainment on the flight. I like the TV monitors in the back of the headrest of the seat in front of me. I like this because I don't have to look down at my electronic device. I will say I feel like they are one of the most consistent Airlines when it comes to on time arrivals and luggage. Like I said, I've flown them for many years and never had an issue with my luggage. I've flown other airlines who have lost my luggage, Miss tagged my luggage, but Delta seems to have a pretty good system in place for managing luggage.

Coming back from Hawaii, our trip was initially delayed. After a few hours of troubleshooting, they decided to cancel the flight so we got vouchers for food and a dingy Motel. So, we try again to leave the following day. Obviously if you plan to go to work the day after trip this is horrible. i had to cancel on a number of my patients which, as a professional, I hate to do so last minute. I just wish that Delta was just as professional but unfortunately not. More recently, I traveled internationally and I was told that certain comfort products were banned according to Delta policy. In the back of my head I figure "okay if it's not TSA approved i can understand that". But when I looked into it further, it turns out only Delta has this policy. Whether it's an inflatable or neck pillow or seat cushion, these products are banned because they want you to buy their premium seats. As consumers budgets are getting Tighter and Tighter, it is very unfortunate that a company that is as big and as global as Delta is pinching pennies At this rate I might as well go for a budget airline if I'm going to be nickel and dimed. In the last year, my partner lost luggage accessories and customer service refused to reimburse him. I'd love to give them the benefit of the doubt but honestly, these back to back mishaps just reflect their poor business integrity. Moving forward, we'll take our business elsewhere.

Their staff did an admirable job in dealing with a sudden emergency. We were sitting around a big table in their Dearborn Conference Room on Friday when around 6:30pm the area was hit with a power outage. Somewhere between 80,000 and 100,000 customers lost power, including the hotel. Whatever happened also affected the hotel generator, because that was knocked out too. No heat, no hot water, no electricity, no internet. The hotel staff did what they could and set up emergency contractor lights in the lobby area and dining area. I'm not sure how, but they were able to serve the traditional Embassy Suites hot breakfast the next morning. My visit got off to a great start, with a big suite room and an excellent check-in experience. Some of our party arrived early and we enjoyed their complimentary Happy Hour drinks and snacks. Their staff was wonderful -especially the food service workers who set up that hot breakfast in dim lighting. One of the guys made me laugh when he said eating breakfast in the cold and dark reminded him of being back in the service!

She informed me of hotel amenities and their hours of operation then directed me to my room. Room was fine, albeit a tad worn. I had a burger in the bar which was very good. Bartender was friendly and efficient. There was a loud, obnoxious woman at the bar who I was able to avoid until I spoke with a man at the bar. Evidently, she was a regular customer. She directed a comment toward me that was factually incorrect and when I attempted to explain to her why, she exploded and started screaming at me. I stepped away, gathered my stuff and waited for my check at the end of the bar farthest from her. She continued screaming at me from across the bar, raving loudly that she would pray for me--which I found particularly bizarre and rather scary. I asked her repeatedly to stop shouting at me. While waiting I had a polite conversation with a man at the end of the bar that I had purposefully placed between she and me. The bartender returned and she finally got her to stop screaming. I paid and left. In the morning at checkout I told the front desk person about my very negative and frightening experience. She apologized and said that they expect people not to "talk politics". I pointed out to her that Fox News was playing on every TV in the lobby and bar and she apologized again. I took the shuttle to the airport. Driver was nice and professional and even tried to help me obtain a cart. Despite other positive aspects of the hotel, I will not be returning to a place that allows crazy people to drink to oblivion then verbally attack other guests.
