As an Elite Yelper, I take my job seriously: I find the best through Yelp, and then I Yelp about…read moreit. I've been driving around with two pairs of leather boots in my trunk forever, looking for a shoe repair place I could trust. The last spot didn't exactly impress me (RIP to the sad Tory Burch sole replacement), so I went back to my trusty Yelp -- and that's how I found Mike's. After circling the block a few times and realizing parking is basically a myth before 4 PM or after 7 PM, I finally slid into the 7-Eleven lot, grabbed my boots, and walked in. Gary took one look at them and said, "These are nice boots." And I said what I always say: "I don't wear cheap shoes. Maybe I didn't pay full price, maybe they were gifts -- but I take care of what I own." He showed me some of the work he does -- Christian Louboutins, YSL, Gucci, Louis Vuitton -- the whole high-end runway of clientele. And let me tell you: the craftsmanship speaks for itself. He took my boots and completely refurbished them. I wish I had before-and-after pics because the transformation was insane. They looked brand new. I picked them up, paid happily, and immediately brought in my two pairs of Louboutins. Not cheap, but absolutely worth it. He rebuilt the entire heel structure, made them stable again, reglazed the soles, buffed, shined, restored -- basically brought them back to life. Then I threw in a pair of Michael Kors just to test him -- and they came back looking like they walked off the shelf yesterday. Here's what I'll say: Gary can do no wrong. Whether it's red bottoms, YSL, Gucci, LV, Tom Ford, or a pair of beloved everyday boots -- he treats everything with the same precision and pride. His work is immaculate. People literally come from Beverly Hills to bring him their shoes, and now I know why. Shoe repair shops are few and far between these days, and finding someone this good is rare. If you care about your shoes the way I do, Mike's is the only place you need. And Gary is the only guy you need doing the work!

I brought in two vintage Coach pieces: a saddle bag purse that had been my mother's that I wanted to give to my niece and an old Day-Runner organizer. The purse has several small, dark stains inside and out that had been there for years and took away from the bag's overall beauty. I was afraid my niece would be underwhelmed with it as a gift, even though she collects vintage Coach. The Day-Runner was stored in our garage and had serious mildew inside and out. Ray's team returned them to me as good as new - even better than new, because Coach has retired these items. I couldn't believe the stains on the bag were gone with virtually no detectable change to the bag's original saddle color. Amazing work. Beyond that, Ray cares about the quality of every piece they work on - which is why he has my business from now on!
