I've been pleased with the work they've done on my shoes and handbags, which is why I've continued to come back. That said, I felt like I needed to make this review because this is now the second time in a row that I've experienced an issue with communication and customer service. I came in to pick up my shoes and had a question about whether the heel had actually been repaired. The gentleman assisting me was unable to communicate with me in English, which made it very difficult to explain my concern and understand what had been done. I understand that it was close to closing time on this particular visit, but I've also experienced this during the middle of the day. When the main person who normally assists customers isn't there, there doesn't seem to be someone available who can effectively communicate with customers about their repairs. While trying to address my concern, the shoe was taken back to make an adjustment to the heel. Unfortunately, when it was returned, the satin on the shoe had been scratched, making the shoe look more weathered. At that point, I became frustrated and simply asked for my shoes back. I was also disappointed that my shoe boxes and shoe covers came back dirty and grimy. I completely understand that the person doing the repairs works with their hands, but there should be some additional care taken when handling a customer's belongings once the work is completed. I've been spending $200-$300 or more each time I come in, so I do expect a certain level of communication, customer service, and care. Again, I want to emphasize that I think Shoeber does good work. That's why I've continued to return. I'm not writing this review because I'm unhappy with the quality of their work overall. I just felt the need to say something because this is now the second time in a row that I've had this type of experience. Hopefully management will take this feedback seriously. Good workmanship is important, but so are communication, customer service, and how customers' belongings are handled.

Since I haven't had to come here in years, they're now in a different part of town on Beverly. Parking is on Beverly or Flores (metered or some residential on Flores; read the signs). Once again, same issue with the heel but another pair of stilettos. Was quoted $18 and approximately two weeks will be notified by a text when ready. Cramped entry since it's a small space, but I was in and out fairly quickly. When I returned, there was a girl in front of me who had a ton of shoes with her, and the guy barely acknowledged me to let me know someone would be with me shortly (I admit I'm not a looker) but thankfully, another nice guy came over and helped me with my easy pick up. Was offered a bag but I had the dust bag for the shoes with me. What pleases me about this place is all the shoes I've had fixed here are ones I'm still actually wearing; even if I thought they'd be in disarray shortly after repair. I was taken aback, so didn't say much and just asked again, "how much to repair the boots?" for a second time. He gave me an estimate of $120. and reiterated he doesn't recommend getting them repaired and continued to mansplain and talk down on my boots. These are my favorite pair of black leather vintage boots from the 80's, I've had them for 20+ years, they've never given me problems. Yes, the leather isn't the best quality due to the age, but they're not trash. They still look nice. I don't wear them that often, they're part of my collection and I plan on keeping them. I didn't really appreciate the non-helpful, unsolicited advice and the overpriced estimate. I just left. 20 minutes later, I happened to be driving and saw a little Mexican shoe repair store so I pulled over. They quoted me $40., no questions. I picked them up a week later, they did an excellent job, and I can continue to keep my vintage boots.
