I haven't purchased a car here, but I did inquire about one they have listed on OfferUp - a 1999 Ford F250 7.3 Diesel. It was listed by "Jeff", who posted it for $1000. The description and price indicate that's a down payment, and since I have over $10k cash in hand and I'm in need of a heavy duty pickup, I decided to ask about the cash price. This began a back and forth that ended, without provocation, with me being insulted heavily by "Jeff". This led me to track down where he worked, which is Stop and Go Auto in Gresham. How do I know? There are signs behind your car pics, Jeff. I'm not surprised to find all these bad reviews. I know I won't be doing business here. Despite his "22 years in the car business and I do quite well", Jeff seems to have forgotten the cardinal rules of customer service. Go the extra mile. Treat customers with respect. With the exception of Elliot, the actual salesperson that helped me, this was an awful experience. Went to see 4runner listed at $3588-full retail. When we got there, the truck had a flat, no gas, and the coolant was bone dry. It spat white smoke when they started it up for 15 minutes. Had to stop to get gas for the test drive. Car drove ok, but check engine light was on, and obviously the white smoke from the tail pipe is a concern. I asked to have a pre-purchase inspection and it was immediately evident they didn't want to do it. I made a fair offer based on the test drive and condition of the car, which was "fair" at best and not anywhere near worth full-retail in its current condition and with several potentially major unknowns. They said they were not willing to move from the price. I asked if they would take it to get the pre-purchase inspection at MY EXPENSE and they did not respond. During the process it became evident that this was not a car they really want to sell, more that they just list it every day on Craigslist to get people to come to the lot, and then push them into a more expensive vehicle. Its a real bummer to have experiences like this. The car was what I needed- not perfect, fixer upper, and I was willing to work with them. Any normal buyer would want to have it inspected as I did, but they wouldn't go for it, even though its really in their best interest. 82nd is always shady, and unfortunately Stop and Go was no exception. I'd stay away. ***UPDATE UPDATE Finally had the 4runner inspected (at my expense) and was told it needed $3300 worth of work AND a new engine. Needless to say I passed on that car. Oddly enough it is was re-listed again the very next day and is still being listed on Craigslist. When I contacted them to tell them it was a crime to sell that car, (still at the same price no less), this is the response I got: "The vehicle has been sold and the customer pre purchased a new crate motor. We had to share the info about the inspection . We're feeling less shady daily based on a large % of our inventory is 2010 and up and we sell we inspect everything and do all in our power to make the cars perfect.. Terrible! Unless you get great joy out of shitty car shopping experience. I went in to look specifically at the mini coopers. Prior to going, I called in to make sure that they had them and all the details were right so that I didnt waste my time. I got 2 calls from them throughout the day "making sure I was coming in, etc." The website lists them as automatic, which was confirmed in phone call; in reality, they were all manual. When I indicated that I am not only interested in automatic, I can not drive a manual, and phone/website verified of same, i was told that the sales guy would teach me. I thought it was a joke but oh no, they were serious. Then showed me a few other cars that "would fit my needs". He put me in a Volvo. Again, I was looking specifically at mini coopers. Yes, I could have just walked off the lot but after they persisted, I gave in. While on the test drive, the transmition makes a major slip. The entire experience was dreadful; from the details (such as miles), the AC completely out, which I communicated to him- he kept on pressuring me. Then, he showed me the 2009 Toyota Matrix with over 100k miles on it for $13k. Umm.. the center console completely ripped out, the truck wont open at all, back windshield wiper ripped out, and God knows what else. The entire time that he is showing me cars that I did not come to look at, he is bashing on the car that I came for; saying that mini coopers are sh*t, problems, etc. I'm glad I did a ton of research because all his claims were untrue. In addition, you have coopers on your lot. I'm just not buying one because they are just manual. In addition, if you act and look unprofessional when helping me with a high purchase experience, it really does not help your case. Ultimately, my one criteria was that it has to be a mini cooper, which I was lied to about to both on website and on phone. I wasted 2 hours of my time. One may think "well, you could have just walked off the lot", you're right. However, I was not raised to be a rude individual so its not in me to act as such. It was one thing after another, which clearly was an effective tactic to keep me on the lot. I suppose this is what most used dealers are like.. which is why I'm back to buying from private individuals. Oh and now its the day after. I get 2 lengthy emails from them (despite my expressed desire not to contact me) telling me that I need to come back because I will not find what I want elsewhere, no lender will take me, they are doing me a favor, etc. are you kidding me right now?! This place seems waaaay shady. The guy wouldn't tell me how much the car was listed for, but said I should come down and look at it. It's like, tell me how much the fu**ing car is listed for and then I'll consider coming down. Just got a runaround, with they guy saying the car was at a different lot and he couldn't figure out how much they listed it for. Total BS. If that's how they do business, I want no part of it. I rode my bike to the dealership and I was out in the lot for 20 mins before a single salesman spoke to me. I felt as if they were stereotyping me just because I was young and had a bike. I even saw a salesman walk past us while talking on the phone and smoking. He was wearing a Oregon ducks jacket.The car was in fare condition and they were selling it for 14k which is 6 grand over the kbb. Who does that? I understand that they need to make some money but I'm was not going to pay that much for a piece of shit! Even worst! They wanted to run my credit just to test drive the car. I understand if it's a new car or something that's at least 20k but really? A 2002 wrx with 134000 miles! Carl was giving me such a bad attitude and told me that he had to run my credit and if he didn't I was going to "light him up". Dealt with Jason who was rude, condescending, and made misleading statements like, "could probably work something out for you" and "I am confident we can match or beat that offer". I was aware of my credit score and upfront about the details of my situation yet Jason felt it necessary to say "you need to be realistic" when I had no expectations to begin with and was just shopping around to see if I could get a better deal than one I had with another dealer. Sounds like Stop and Go could use a lesson on how to treat potential customers. Additionally, they wanted $13,000 for an '05 Audi with over 100,000 miles. My experience was not bad, but I am also very strong willed. They were definitely ready to give me a good deal on the purchase price and even give me $3,500 on my 2002 Jetta. But I wanted to make an educated decision before buying a car so I left. Only to realize later that they never gave me my license back! A trick tactic to get you to come back. They had also wanted my keys to look at my car for trade in value, but we didn't hand them over because we had out two dogs in the car. I feel that they were trying to do the same thing to us that they did to the other reviewer when they wouldn't give her keys or license back. If you enjoy the experience of being handed off to different people to be dealt with, than this is the dealership for you. If you like spending time with a seemingly coked out dealer who won't stop talking - ever - and continually tries to get you to spend more money that you explicitly said you were willing to spend (I came in with a pre approved car loan from a credit union), than go here. If you'd like to sit in a room and have to ask over and over again for the price on the car that you may or may not be interested in while they start filling out paperwork - that they try to get you to sign - even though you've committed to nothing and you're still not sure of the price of the car. Or if you even like it. This place is a racket. I test drove ONE car that I wasn't sure about (felt like they may be some issues under the hood) and they decided the test drive was enough to get me to buy. Then, and this might be the best part, they offered to sell me the car for half what the car was listed at. Why would a used car dealer be willing to let a car go for 6k less than it's KBB value? Very likely because that car is going to have some serious mechanical issues in the near future and the wanted off of their lot. They spent a half an hour trying to convince me to not take it to my mechanic for an inspection. I called the next day asking if they'd offer the same deal on a car that I was actually willing to buy but was out of my budget. They never called back. Wow! Looks like stop and go has not used these reviews to improve the quality of their customer service. My girlfriend and I recently went in looking at cars and it was a terrible experience. DO NOT GO HERE! We were very clear about what we wanted, how much we wanted to spend and they completely disregarded these needs the entire time. They were beyond pushy when it came to staying in line with our budget. They finally found us a car that was still out of what we wanted, ran our credit MULTIPLE times, promised they could get us "a great deal" only to find out later that they had no bank that would actually fund what they had offered. They let us leave with a vehicle, assuming we would take some mental ownership over it then bend when we found out later in the week that the rate was significantly higher than initially promised. The kicker, they didn't even have the decency to call and tell us this. Not until I went in for some paper work did they tell me, and then try and repeat the entire pushy process over and make a ridiculously inflated offer and basically insult our collective credit. I'm not one to speak ill of anyone but these folks are just basically rotten. They would likely slap their own mothers in the face in front of you to get you in a car you don't want or can't afford. I saw a car online, so I emailed and asked the price. I was told $20k. So I brought the family in, took for a test drive. I liked the car, but I thought it was in worse condition, so I offered $19k. The salesperson took the offer back and the closer came out and told me the car would cost me $27k. I was like, "WTF, why are you increasing the price", they tried to claim that they got the cars mixed up, but that is not the case as I told them the stock number and described the car make/model, and I called back to confirm and both times they told me it was $20k. This company plays games, jerks you around, and could care less. When I told them I didn't appreciate their dishonesty, all they said was "we understand". I recommend you don't waste your time. Also they told me that they typically finance their cars at 30% above the retail value. This means they charge you 30% more if you need financing! STAY AWAY! They call this an honest mistake, but it was not. When I was told a higher price, I told the salesman I was going to lunch and to call me with the price. He called me a half hour later with the original price. Lied twice, definitely shady stuff. Ignore their response, it's just another lie. read more

After saying that we changed our minds, they wouldn't give our keys to our trade in back. They kept saying someone else has the keys. They fucked up my financing by failing to read the details of my credit report. So after driving off the lot, I had to return and re do all the paperwork. Re: Sergio. I came in to look at a VW Jetta Tdi that I saw on Craigslist. The VW that was advertised wasn't actually a TDI, but a gas engine, so the sales person too me to a TDI Passat instead. The diesel engine on the Passat needed a tune up at the very least, so I was going to take it to my mechanic for a check before buying it. The guy who was trying to close the sale was receptive to my low offer for the car, but I didn't like the way he was treating me so I decided to walk away from the deal. Honestly, I think you've got some good people working for you and maybe your sales model is working, but it's not the right fit for me. Frankly, and I hope this is constructive, I wasn't impressed by the condition of a lot of the cars on the lot. My expectation is that the dealer has done their due diligence to make sure that every car that leaves their lot is in excellent condition and the staff provides excellent customer service. That's how loyal customers are won. If your product and service is superior, people will keep coming back and they'll tell their friends. Bought a truck and i immediately found out it had a transmission problem. Even though I bought "As Is" they stepped up and got it fixed for me. I appreciate that they kept their word and backed up their product and saved me thousands of dollars. They also helped me get past allot of credit issues and got me approved. My only real problem was getting ahold of the right person and getting it fixed quickly. Took longer than I had hoped but it still got done. It's a bit of a bummer I am reading so many negative reviews. Personally I bought a car there two nights ago. The sales lady was great to work with, very personable. I wasn't really intending to buy that night, but they gave me a pretty decent deal. They paid off my car, even though I was only at the break even point on the loan. I am sure they moved the price on my vehicle to accommodate that other loan, but so what. I didn't want that vehicle anymore and I wanted the one I purchased. I am happy with the purchase, everything seems to be working. The only issues I have found have been cosmetic, which is to be expected with a 9 year old used vehicle. The sales team were only slightly pushy, but I get it; that's their job. I didn't feel overly pressured to buy. I knew I could walk away if I needed to. The car broke down literally the week we bought it and has had a catastrophic problem just about every week since. So we call the guys and they say ' were so sorry. This review is a bit overdue as I have been so busy. In short, I just moved back from London, got a new job in Portland and had to get a car in one weekend. I don't know about you but buying a car is pretty much my idea of Hell. But these guys (mainly Luis) made this relatively and I mean relatively painless, I mean it's still buying a car so I can't say it didn't suck. But let me tell you, I would go back to these guys in a heartbeat, in fact we may have to since we still need another car. I have one happy little mini cooper and I did tell Luis (who was charming and nice and really easy to work with) that I would give him a good review as soon as a couple weeks had passed and I got my plates and the car hadn't just died. It has been a month and all is cheery. Runs like a charm and I feel like I got a great deal, which, in the end is the big worry isn't it? So, do your research on cars obviously, if you are buying a used car, there are going to be issues...but if you want a good used car and stand up guy to work with, go to Luis. read more

Stop and Go Auto was a complete joke!!! Augie sold me a car with nothing but problems & Dale called me back in 3 different times to sign paperwork. "Stop & Go" gave me a loaner car that broke down & sat in my friends driveway for almost 2 wks. They agreed fix the issues with my car, because of the 30 day lemon law, only to let my car sit for 2 wks until the lemon law was up. Nothing was repaired except the headlight! I wouldn't recommend this company to my worst enemy!!! They also have felons working for them who contact buyers after hrs & insinuate rude, uncomfortable & sexual comments.
