Bountyland Quick Stop

Driving back to Atlanta from North Carolina this past Sunday (the Sunday after Thanksgiving), there…read morewas a lot of holiday traffic on I-85. I-85 is two lanes in these parts and it was backed up severely. Waze led me off the interstate twice. The first time, I was taken through Fair Play, a tiny rural town near the South Carolina-Georgia border. I took a break before hopping back on the interstate and crossing into Georgia. That's how I ended up at this place known as Bountyland Quick Stop. Bountyland is a chain of convenience stores with over a dozen locations located primarily in the northwestern corner of South Carolina. They also have a couple locations in Highlands, North Carolina. This particular Bountyland is attached to an Exxon gas station. The store isn't on the same level as a QuikTrip, RaceTrac, or Sheetz, but it's not terrible either. When I visited, the store appeared to be well-stocked with snacks, drinks, and other essentials. There were self-serve drinks, coffee, slushies, and icy treats as well as decent-looking hot dogs on the roller grill and two kinds of fresh boiled peanuts (original and Cajun). There were tables to sit down and eat. There were three ladies behind the counter and they greeted most of the people who entered the store. The men's restroom, which had two toilets and an out-of-order urinal, was clean. It happened to be busy when I was there (around 2:20pm). A lot of the folks - workers and customers - knew each other. I saw friends/acquaintances bumping into each other. It really felt like a small town in that regard. Overall, this just seems like a quiet, humble convenience store.
