Pack a cooler and spend a weekend in the great outdoors. In town there is rafting, tubing, and the hot mineral springs. There are a couple of restaurants and pubs too. Although town is just 10 minutes away, once you get here you won't want to leave. Owners Ken and Amy are the most hospitable people you will ever meet. They start a campfire on Friday and nights at the main house and it doesn't go out til Monday morning. Bring your guitars and sit around with them, or have your own fire at your private cabin. The cabins are rustic and mountain themed. You will enjoy the silence of a night of camping with the luxuries of a bed, hot running water, electricity, and a nice shower. They even have sweet tea in the fridge for you when you arrive!

I loved the little touches like having puzzles and kid books in the loft. The touches of making it 'bird themed' were just enough, and didn't make you feel like you were in a Hitchcock movie. While this was a kid free weekend for us, we definitely could see it being perfect for a family as well. Everything was well maintained. Communication with the staff was fantastic and we were really able to unplug and unwind. If you do get antsy and want to go shopping or exploring, Lake Lure is just a short drive away. We wish we could buy one for ourselves lol. The views aren't substantial, but the location was prime for reaching all of our destinations easily. This layout and floor plan easily accommodated all of us comfortably. If you are worried about space, don't even sweat it. I bet it could fit double with zero issues. All the amenities worked and Jeanette is so timely in responses and getting our needs met. There is something for everyone, seriously. The only bad thing you could possibly say is that the roads to get into the cabins is a bit confusing and a bit technical to drive with a full size truck and trailer. However, once you're in, you just hate to leave. I found at the end of every long day of riding, I was so happy to get to come home to Wildflower cabin #1 as my home. While there are 20 places to choose from, each one offers privacy. Some of the dwellings are extremely popular because of their incredible theming, so make sure to make your reservation as soon as possible. My husband and I booked our stay at Dragon's Knoll (think Middle-Earth and hobbits) 6 months out. We enjoyed the cozy home, all of the beautiful touches, the stunning views, and the stillness and peacefulness of the location. We have recently started a travel-inspired business (Reservations and Road Trips) and reached out to the owners. Mike (dad) and Justin (son) were so kind to us. They are passionate people who love what they do and the experiences they can provide. They are great communicators...Mike even called us from his vacation! We stayed at the "Phoenix" and, as a huge Star Wars fan, the amount of detail and thought put into this was incredible. Jere and Melissa, two of the owners, met us on site at check in and could not have been more friendly and accommodating. They welcomed us to the property and encouraged us to explore and check out the other dwellings that were on site. They also maintained constant contact after the storms had devastated that area, and we could tell they were dedicated to providing the best experience possible to both us and Asheville. They never faltered in accommodating us in the delays that the storms had caused. It was all worth the wait, the setting that they have created truly creates a magical getaway and the views were phenomenal. We are looking forward to our next opportunity to visit here and stay in one of the other fantastic homes that they have created. Excellent stay! Second time at Asheville Cottaged and we cannot say enough about the experience. They think of everything to make your experience top notch! We arrived and were feeling a little snacky. No problem! The snack tree and variety of waters/soft drinks/juiced beverages in the fridge were welcome! We browsed the binder for suggestions on where to grab dinner. After dinner at White Duck Taco, we stopped Ingles for a few groceries. Of course, Tracie and Marshall made sure each cottage had an Ingels savings card to use! Need a battery? Under the kitchen sink. Ziplock bag? Yep..,check a drawer in kitchen. They think of everything you may need and have it on hand for you! Loved the soaking tub! Loved the heated bathroom floor. Loved heated toilet seat. Accidentally hit a button on the bidet in the middle of the night and got a little surprise rinse off. . The big surprises were seeing a few bears late one afternoon behind the cottage (Magnolia). Thankfully, we just sat quietly on the deck and they looked at us and took off for the woods. Overall, it was a great trip and on the flight home, I started to look at availability to come back for a girls trip later in the Fall with my sister and niece. But before I could book anything, Hurricane Helene severely impacted the area. My heart breaks for all the families who lost loved ones in this disaster. By finding them on social media to see if they were ok, I found out that thankfully Asheville Cottages did not sustain much damage due to their location. Since Asheville tourism is essentially stopped, Tracie and Marshall have graciously opened their cottages to local families who have been displaced by the hurricane as they still have electricity and water. They also are still paying their employees salaries during this time (as they did during Covid) - taking care of them like family. THIS is exactly the kind of small business that my husband and I are proud to support so we will be staying at Asheville Cottages next time we come to Asheville...whenever that can happen.

The drive up the mountainside was beautiful (and slightly scary) but oh-so worth it! I was relieved to have made it through the weekend without a flat tire considering the gravel roads we had to trek up to get to the cabin and to the beautiful hiking spots nearby. We made the whole trip in a Honda Accord but with the knowledge we have now, we'd likely get a more rugged rental car for our next visit. As for the cabin...right away I was in awe of how cute and cozy the whole cabin/property was! The cabin was perfectly stocked with everything you'd need for two guests (planning to share a comfortable queen-sized bed) - soap, towels, linens, dishes, silverware, etc. Everything you'd have to bring on your own was very explicitly and clearly stated on their website so we were more than prepared for the weekend trip. I've always loved the idea of "glamping" in a furnished cabin and this was everything and more. The cabin was decked out with new kitchen appliances, a toaster, plenty of pots and pans, drinking glasses, cooking spices, a clean stove top, washer/dryer, spacious shower with benches, outdoor grill, new bath vanity, adjustable TV, fireplace and easily-adjustable air conditioning unit with an electronic thermostat right on the wall. The outdoor patio had a table with bench seats and grill supplies such as an extra tank of propane, a lighter, a spatula and tongs. There was also a nice rocking bench fit for two, a fenced in yard for the pups and a cute little doggy door with a ramp leading straight from the patio to the yard. And saving the best for the last, the patio included a spacious private hot tub! Throughout the cabin, there were friendly, clearly written tips/instructions posted to remind you of how to adjust the thermostat, what settings to keep for the hot tub and how to use the washer/dryer, etc. This was very helpful! I also appreciated the "concierge book" of local activities, menus from local restaurants, and maps with directions to local hiking spots. This was helpful considering there were very few spots along the mountain-side where either of us got any service on our cellphones - a detail that is also clearly stated on their website. Overall, this was a wonderful, relaxing getaway I surely hope to repeat! Thank you to Amy, Mike and Lisa for all of your hardwork and attention to detail!

We enjoyed the gorgeous sunset mountain views from the porch and hot tub, and the amazing concierge book filled with restaurant menus, hikes, and activities. They have thought about everything you'd need! From a washer/dryer to a flashlight by the door to take your dog out at night. It was so nice to have no phone service and disconnect from city living for the weekend. I highly recommend this place and we will certainly be back soon! Bonus points, the town of Hot Springs was also very dog friendly! It was so fun to take her to the hardware store and out to lunch with us.

We managed to snag the top loft around the Holiday season. To top it off, this place is pet-friendly, no questions asked and no pet deposit. This is an incredible perk for families traveling with their fur babies. Because they recognized that pets are family too, we took extra care to clean up after our pets on the property when they did their business outdoors. Not sure if they care about dog poop on the land, but may we suggest a small station for doggie poop bags? Also something to consider, we frequently saw loose dogs from the surrounding area running on the property and road, so we recommend being aware of this if your pet doesn't do well around loose dogs. Our cabin was approximately 600 square feet, had a gas fireplace (awesome!!!!!!), and we were right on the edge of the Watauga River. The land surrounding the cabin is lovely and the sound of the rushing river water is absolutely refreshing. The cabin comes with everything you would need for your stay: extra towels and bedding, extra spices, condiments, and coffee, a nice laundry facility on the ground floor, firewood for the camp fire outside, and an awesome grill and outdoor facility with plenty of seating on the river's edge. Our dogs loved romping in the lake. The only thing that the cabin didn't have was shampoo/conditioner, but there was plenty of soap in the bathroom and kitchen. The water heater worked great, so there was no issue with hot showers or hot water in the kitchen sink. Once you get the fireplace roaring, it's wonderful being able to settle in with a hot mug of coffee, free fast wifi, and satellite TV. Everything during our stay was perfect. We would definitely book this cabin again in the future for the holidays.

We fell in love with the area and specifically with this exceptionally cute and private cabin. So much so that we found out it was for sale and bought it two weeks ago. It has been a great experience adding our personal touch to make it the cabin of our dreams. My wife and daughter and I hope you will love it as much as we have. Springbrook Cottages has five 50 amp full hookup RV sites, and we rented one for the weekend to visit my wife's parents. We were impressed. The campground area is right on Spring Creek, great for wading or trout fishing. The campsites are good sized and not very densely packed. And the pricing was very reasonable. The management is friendly and a pleasure to deal with. This is one of the few places we have camped where we weren't handed a list of rules upon arrival. Bridge Street, the main drag through Hot Springs is about two blocks away, and there are many shopping and dining options there.

I also love that the units have a porch that looks out on the creek. It is very near the train tracks, but that has never impacted my stay here. The owner does smoke in her office, which is also her home, but the units are smoke free, and she is very nice and always accommodating.
