Near the park entrance on Topanga.

A beautiful spot to see when you're driving past on the nearby 118 freeway or Topanga Canyon Blvd, and even at the park there are areas where you can still appreciate the beauty of this park. Lots of people come here to rock climb, boulder, & even hike around makeshift trails. Unfortunately the laziness of a select choose few bring this place down. The downside of a park being so accessible to a near by road is it attracts the type of people that leave behind garbage, plastic bottles, & beer cans along the side where you climb up to the peak not to mentioned the spots with shattered glass and crappy spray paint tagging (no not graffiti art). The really sad part is while I was on the trail I saw a group of volunteers cleaning trash from the area. As they were passing by I heard one of them cry out "Oh no, it's back!!" Referring to some graffiti they recently cleaned off one of the rocks being tagged up again with something else. To the people that feel like it's no big deal to leave their trash behind because "who cares" or "someone who works here will clean it up." Try to take a little bit of pride in being accountable for yourself. Don't do the right thing only because it will benefit you in some way, do the right thing simply because it's the right thing to do. I'll leave this review with a quote from Adam Carolla. "I don't know one successful person who leaves their shopping cart in the middle of the parking lot. If you're too big to do the small things, you're too small to do the big things."

This place is epic and a hidden gem imo. You park and the main road and hike up from there. Make sure you remember your way up it's easy to get lost on the way down. Very peaceful and beautiful up top. Quiet the views.

This Hike is AMAZING! This hike starts off kinda easy but don't let it fool you, once you get into the trail its all rock climbing and jumping around. its well kept but you will find trash and glass here and there so be careful while jumping around. Parking here is free street parking but get here early cause it get packed fast. After a fun day of hiking and enjoying the views i walked down to the train station and took some amazing photos but be careful because the train still runs. Have fun!

Reading all the reviews I agree with everyone of them. I like it because you can climb here without any equipment besides your hands and feet. The climb was a right balance of easy enough to have confidence but difficult enough to give me a challenge/scare. The view alone was worth it, it looked like something out of the Flinstones, with boulders on top of boulders. It looked like something out of another time. The view of the valley itself was magnificent, you could see everything from it and really showed why people choose to live in the LA area. My friend who'd been here a few times told me to be wary of pigeons that nested in the caves and crannies of it, but it's not two legged critters that you need to be worried about. The place is littered with broken glass which made me a little worried since I was wearing my tevas-good for climbing but not for all the beer bottle shards lying around. I don't mind graffiti so much but what my friend told me was that people come by to brown out the graffiti and what that does is smooths out the rock, aka gets rid of the precious, precious hand and foot holds that should be there.

Been coming here regularly, it's my favorite spot for climbing. Found out how to get to the tagged up train tracks. It's fun to wander around and try to climb up new rocks for a challenge

Wow where to start, I'll start out by saying stoney point is a cornucopia of experiences! My husband likes it, but me, not so much. I don't like graffiti on rocks and there is a lot. I don't like that there's no actual hiking trail or clear cut path to take up or down but, PLOT TWIST, thanks to someone who graffitied some useful arrows me and my hunky hubby we found our way down before the sun set. I also don't like the smashed beer bottles everywhere it kinda takes me out of the moment. When I go hiking I want to leave the hustle and bustle of daily life behind you know, escape a bit. When I see all the trash and graffiti It reminds me of everything I don't like about the area. That being said my husband likes that there are no clear cut paths and that he can tackle the rock any way he likes because he argues that life is often to linear. Philosophies aside, he heard me reading reviews about Stoney point and was surprised that reviews on trails on yelp were even a thing and he low key judged me a little for looking the place up, I know it in my heart. He's been coming here for six years rather frequently and although he has seen all the vandalism of which most reviewers write, he has never seen any thugs or vandals or lowlifes or thieves or unsavories blah blah blah but I digress. We did see a baby rattler though AND he almost stepped on it. It scared me but he thought it was awesome. Boys will be boys, PLOT TWIST, I'm the husband and I wrote this review not my wife.

Enjoying the view at the top!

I was going to give Stoney Point 3.5 stars because of all the graffiti and shattered glass, but I'm going to round up because I had a lot of fun getting lost in the rocks anyway. I had originally planned to hike around the Garden of the Gods but I unknowingly walked right by it, and ended up at Stoney Point - a happy mistake if you ask me. I saw some people bouldering, some with rock climbing gear, and the rest were regular hiking folk like myself. There was a surprising amount of children roaming about today and the view at the top was really nice. A little too close to the residential area for my liking, but I loved the various rock formations along the mountains. There was what looked like a trail when we first started, but really, Stoney Point is about scrambling through the rocks and navigating your own way to the top. I thought going down was a little bit challenging as since there wasn't one clearly marked trail, I couldn't quite remember what route we took. Luckily, my friend was with me and he managed to get us back down. There was also a plaque remembering the train collision back in 2008 at the bottom. Fun place to come out and climb rocks, but not the best place to hike if you're trying to escape the busy city as there are still cars and houses around. Street parking only.

Got a broken leg last week hiking here, fractured 2 bones and had to have surgery. 10/10 would hike again.

Epic. Go to Train Tracks for more fun. Good for hiking and having overall fun. If your friends are complete morons go here. You can take good pictures and have good times.

A great place to get your fix of stone with lots to do. This site includes 5 mile dirt hike, 2 mile rock hike, rock climbing. Free parking roadside. Exit your car from the right door only to avoid passing cars. Bring water since there is no public water station for 3 miles. The North side has some snakes and more bushy. Roadside has places to chill and shady rocks. East end is a flat sandy path lined trees. After a hard hike there some good restaurants down the road.

    Darren B.

Overall, for the physical nature of the landscape, it is great, BUT it appears to attract every delinquent at night without any oversight. The place may as well be an alley in downtown LA with Graffiti covering a VAST amount of the park and really detracts from the experience. Such a beautiful place ruined by punks.

    Nicole A.

Just want to point out that there is a parking access that is locked without notice. Yes I'm here at 7:30 past sunset but it's not open during hours of Sunrise to sunset.

Not really a hiking spot and might be OK for Instagram, but not for the kind of photography I do. The worst part is that the movie ranch that was here has been replaced by a subdivision. Boring beige boxes of unremarchitecture that have become so emblematic of SoCal suburban sprawl. It is undoubtably cool to have this location in your backyard, but not so great to have those houses in your photo background. Worth a quick stop if you are in the area and a film buff.

What do you associate with the northwestern SFV city of Chatsworth? It's surely that it is known as…read morethe 'Porn Capital' of USA. Even non-Cali residents are aware of this scandalous 'fun fact'. But there is more to this city edging the 118-freeway than just a perverted satisfaction. Chatsworth is also the home to some of the most gorgeous geolithic structures in the Valley. Anyone who has driven on the 118 has seen these glorious rock structures comprising of Stoney Point, Santa Susana, and of course Garden of the Gods. What is Garden of the Gods? Garden of the Gods is located essentially in a Chatsworth neighborhood on Redmesa (a very aptly named street) and isn't a park in the traditional sense of having a lot or ornate entrance. Rather, this entire acreage of Chatsworth is basically one large rocky, cavernous, geographic wonder making Valley residents feel like they are at a national park in Utah. Okay, it isn't on the level of Utah but it is pretty damn good for Los Angeles. After parking on the street, a sign welcomes visitors to the glorious area. A plaque proudly boasts of the Hollywood history of Garden of the Gods: it was part of the ranch that filmed countless westerns on the grounds from Buster Keaton classics to the opening credits of Lone Ranger hence Lone Ranger Rock. Garden of the Gods can also be seen in several big-budget films creating either an African or desert backdrop. Pretty cool, right? The 'trails' (if we want to call them that) vary from light rock climbing to open spaces and from bushes/grasses to sand stone outcroppings. Garden of the Gods is simply breathtaking and you can't help but take a moment to truly think about the amazing-ness of Mother Nature and the age of the rocks. There are several cave-like spots, smooth eroded boulders and stunning views of the SFV and the neighboring rock formations. One can see all the way across to the Verdugo Mountains and the tip of the LA National Forest. I visited the Garden of the Gods with a crew for a lingerie modeling shoot. That's right: I was basically naked here (and actually completely 100% naked when changing). I suppose that is fitting for the Porn Capital? We didn't come across many people (golden hour on a Wednesday in November) so Garden of the Gods was peaceful, quiet and serene. This place is perfect for a modeling shoot or for your IG with various nooks and crannies that make love to the camera. Or perhaps that was me doing that. Be careful though, because there of plenty of snakes and mountain lions who call Garden of the Gods home. So why am I not giving this gorgeous wonder of the world (or at least LA) 5 stars? Simply because people are assholes and decided to use Garden of the Gods as a garbage can. You will come across a lot of trash, bottles, and broken glass EVERYWHERE! These losers also defaced some of the beautiful rocks with tags and graffiti. News stories run rampant in the Stoney Point/Garden of the Gods/Santa Susana area of murders, fights, drugs, etc. Geeze Chatsworth, calm down. I would suggest, for the ladies out there, to not venture here alone. Although Garden of the Gods was quite empty during my visit; we did come across some hikers, families with small children and even mountain climbers with legit gear practicing on the rocky faces. Garden of the Gods caters to a diverse cast of characters. Side note relating to Covid: some people wore masks and some didn't but obviously there is plenty of room here for social distancing. Chatsworth may be known for porn but the rocky topography of the area is much more orgasmic and certainly worth more of a visit than just from from your car window when driving on the 118. Hey you never know: you might see someone modeling in lingerie!
