Half wall countertop deep scratches. $115 sqft. $1,000 piece installed today and it's damaged.
    Mathias S.

I am a current customer through Home Depot. Couldn't be more disappointed in a company. The ladies that answer the phone are always confused and one today lied to me, then was unprofessional. In addition, the kitchen was measured incorrectly, so the countertops don't fit. They came to the house 2 times already to install the tops. They were able to install a small piece and it's damaged. See photo. Someone will be coming back to remeasure the kitchen. I asked repeatedly to speak to the install manager. This is the day after the install and first report of the damaged piece. They left the offIce for today, no call from the install manager. If the company cared for the customers more than the money, I would have heard from someone by now. I did call Home Depot and spoke with a manager. At least they were apologetic. I wouldn't recommend Stone Systems to my enemy.

On thing that I can say is, there were probably 50 ABC employees at the picnic and I literally probably met 25 of them. All of them were super friendly, had great attitudes, and were extremely welcoming and inviting. I don't usually buy the things that ABC sells, but If I did, I would definitely go to them just for the simple fact that their people were so friendly and helpful. I love doing business with good people... I don't mind paying a little more for great service.

The ones from the 15th and previously were made by Silver River Contracting, Mission BC. The ones from the 29th were made by Harby Imports (604-462-7721) Canada. I noticed the different label on the product from the 29th and thought that the Harby product looked smaller and the bundle felt lighter. I commented on it to the fork truck operator who brought them out. He said that they were all the same. When I got to the job site where I still had the Silver River product, I compared the shakes and found that the Harby shakes were 1/2 inch shorter and were 5/8 inch narrower than the Silver River product. I went back to ABC, told them of the issue and asked them if they had any of the old label (Silver River) that I could exchange. The store manager acted as if I was nuts and that there was no difference, but he said that I could waste peoples time and look around. They only had one pallet and they were all the same smaller product by Harby Imports. I went back and opened up the bundle. The inside shakes were inferior with some having ragged or broken ends. Also, about 1/3 of the bundle had top spines that did not meet all the way along the top of the stapled ridge cap. These are inferior and smaller ridge cap shakes and not worth buying. The labor is the same to put them up but quality of your end product will suffer.

Bottom line - the installers were top notch and did a beautiful job, but the project management is absolutely terrible. Such a frustrating experience. I won't ever use Home Depot again for my countertops as long as Stone Systems is their installation provider. Some of my grievances: 1. The measuring tech not telling me that I had to have my sink model chosen prior to the measuring appointment. Instead upon their arrival I was told that the measuring couldn't take place until the sink model was chosen which caused my wife and I to look up sink models on the fly so the measuring could proceed and took away the time we would normally use for selecting what would work best for our needs. 2. Receiving a call from the measuring tech asking when we planned on dropping off the sink at their Mundelein, IL fabrication center when I was never told they needed to be in possession of the sink prior to install. This required me to drive more than 60 miles round trip in order to drop off the sink. 3. Upon the FIRST installation day the techs quickly realized that no sink hole had been cut into the slab intended for the sink and they did not have the sink in their possession. So instead of the project being completed half the slabs were left to float on my lower cabinets until they could return and finish the job. 4. After rescheduling the installation for a week later to allow for the sink to be mounted to the slab I received a call the day of install that my appointment was being cancelled due to an illness on the team. While I'm certainly compassionate about a person's health, the pattern of folly experienced thus far has left me incredulous that this was the case and not a smokescreen for another oversight. When the installers did finally finish the job it was lights out gorgeous,. Seams were nigh invisible. I tipped them each well and am very appreciative of their installing team. The project management however is just abysmal. Worst customer service I've ever received and I can't imagine using them again for any reason. Bottom line - 5 star tech, 1 star management = 3 stars.

Sent the factory rep to our home as well as a representative from the store. A small discount was offered in exchange for absolving them of any accountability. When you place an order with them, you only get drawings with the cabinet model numbers, no other information about what the actual cabinets are OR any filler strips, moldings, special materials, etc... This will be important later in the review. Now for all of the mishaps: 1. incorrect cabinet ordered/sent - had to be reordered and sent 2. Filler strips for upper cabinets never shipped - We had to use some molding meant for some other areas to use while they order us new fillers 3. Still waiting on the replacement moldings from above at the time of this review 4. Filler strips for in between beverage fridges ordered/shipped incorrectly - had to re-order and reship 5. Cabinet doors arrived un-milled and missing hinges - had to be picked back up and milled and have hinges placed on them and re-shipped back. What this all means is delay, delay, delay. My wife calls first to talk to sales lady who always is on vacation on Mondays and returns messages sometimes afterwards. Her response was that my contractor is at fault since he didn't open the boxes and verify everything was shipped properly. WE were supposed to verify the pieces against the incomplete drawing that we were given at the beginning of this review!!! She was high. Now the wife calls and talks to Mark S. Basically he says sometimes its the manufacturer, sometimes its Seigles. I don't really care since i bought the cabinets from Seigles not the manufacturer. If he has an issue with the manufacturer, he needs to address that with them. Since all we lost was time, they weren't sympathetic or really cared what happened. They have all of our money and we are still waiting for some of the correct pieces. People, these are semi-custom cabinets, not the type you get at big box stores to begin with. You are going to spend a lot of money for them. Do yourself a favor and look around for custom cabinet suppliers. They are all over the chicagoland area. It is even worth a little driving to get the value for your money.

Initially it was fine. They told me to go their local distributor to select the quartz. I did. When…read morethey came to install it, I realized it wasn't what I had selected. Called them up and showed them photos. At first they were reluctant to believe me, and I had to go to their shop. I showed them the photos of the quartz from the distributor's own website (and their customer's photos), and they tried to convince me that the brown worm like things were normal. I almost begged them to be fair. Then they pulled out the brochure they had and finally believed me bc the delivered stone looked nothing like the physical displays, online photos, or the brochure. Turns out the distributor had outdated displays and the newer version of this quartz was totally different. You know what? I wasn't mad. I actually felt bad bc I don't like to be of trouble to others even though it wasn't my fault. But they immediately blamed the distributor saying they made the mistake and that they're a small company so they can't check every slab. They're just the fabricators. So they told me to go to the distributor the next day. They said they'd called them to have the 3 new slabs ready for me. So I went. Did not have it ready and refused to show me all three. Told me to call G&M. So I did. I got caught in the middle. Told me they'll send photos of the other two from same lot. Ok sure. A couple days later they called me and told me to go in their office to physical okay the 3 slabs. Won't send photos. Now I was getting annoyed. I seriously devoted a lot of time to doing their bidding. My job matters too ok? I already went and they never apologized for wasting my time by not having it ready. Not only that, when I went again - they didn't have the slabs ready and get this - got mad when I asked to see all 3 slabs. They seemed so annoyed. They wanted me to peek at it sideways while it was stuck between two other slabs. Seriously? I'm doing what they asked me to do. I took extra time from my work day to verify the slabs. Shouldn't I be the one that's annoyed? Later on, they got annoyed bc I asked for final measurements. Got yelled at. Made a show of telling me how they use templates and would need so much work to tally that up. Told me to measure it myself. Told me that if every customer was like me, blah blah blah. I just left. It was so rude. Spoke to owner. He apologized but didn't take responsibility. Made excuses. Said they were understaffed and stressed. Said his mom in law was in the hospital. Said he would send me measurements that day. I said don't worry just send it within a week. I felt terrible for him. Nothing gets sent even a week later. But I get a call the day before install that they need to remeasure that day. Ok fine I change my work schedule to be home. The next morning I called to make sure they leave a wide enough opening for my stove bc they didn't during the first install, and the owner said his mom in law passed. Well that's terrible. They can't come that day. Told me to call the office for a reschedule and they wouldn't know when. Maybe tomorrow. Ok I'm fine with that. So I email the office. No response. Later that day my mom called. She happened to be at the home and apparently they showed up to install. I rush home from work. This is not professional behavior at all. I'm at their beck and call. Wait, they didn't even call me. Did they forget that I was their customer? Not their slave? It was going fine until Jose one of the guys starts giving me attitude. All I asked was that they control the dust bc they started cutting the quartz indoors. Stone dust everywhere like a white cloud. I had kids in the home breathing this in. Beforehand they told me they'd cut only a faucet hole in the garage but here they were trimming a lot more than the faucet in the house. But the thing is I would've been understanding if they just tried to control it better. Instead Jose gave me so much attitude and told me to call the office and the owner. I did both and no one picked up. He bluffed saying they'd leave and come back next day if they had to cut literally just outside. Finally another guy there told Jose to shut up and do the work. He was nicer and said he'd vacuum it up. I opened the doors. It was still a mess but they gave me no choice. Jose said the owner threatened to leave too. Later on he admitted it was the owners son. Btw he dented two parts of my cabinets and there was glue all over my brand new hardwood floors. The other guys were fine. So if you want to be dragged around by people who have no respect for your time, home, or family - choose these guys. They kept explaining how terrible things were going for them but never really considered what it's like for me, their customer. Created so much stress for me. So many excuses. Normally I tip extra but I only gave them waters this time. Treating people well doesn't matter sometimes. They just take advantage of your kindness.
