Forgot to update my review upon move out. Still 5 stars. Everyone working there that I've…read moreinteracted with was friendly and helpful, maintenance was quick and easy, the 2 pools and jacuzzis were clean and available to use the whole year (when one needed to be fixed, they made sure the other pool was available). The move out process was straightforward and we got back most of our deposit (I think we forgot to clean one thing... oops lol) Also, it's close to the freeway. Easy 20 min drive to La Jolla shores. Very convenient location. Walk to Albertsons (if only it was a Sprouts! lol) I would recommend living here, especially if lakeside is where you're looking. We had a wonderful time living here for about 8 years and only moved because we needed a bigger place.

I have two toddlers and the apartment is very family-friendly, feeling safe walking around the complex. The surrounding are upkept and maintained nicely. The location is superb as it is right next to the stores complex w/ Albertson, Subway, Mexican food, and even a Vietnamese restaurant, a bonus for me and my Vietnamese craving. The gas station is right down there too. We are able to walk to the stores all the times. Nearby schools are great (from Preschool up to Middle School as far as I know), my two toddlers' school are 5 minutes down the street. This is the first time I live in an apartment setting and I do enjoy all the perks. The pool/jacuzzi that we are able to enjoy over the summer and the gym so we can do a quick workout, nothing fancy but practical and nice to have. And of course, for my first experience with apartment, the fast response from Maintenance whenever we needs some help definitely taking the stress off the need to find a Handyman on our own.

Awesome complex. Families, singles, younger and older couples…read more Owned by Duane Dubbs, managed by Cindy Bruso (Property manager) and on site operated by Robert and Debi Burroughs (they rock). We are a family of 4 and we LOVE this complex. Older buildings, but updated throughout; most units have ceiling fans in the bedrooms, come furnished with dishwashers and a fridge. (Most units also have fresh paint/carpet upon switch of tenancy.) EVERY apartment has a bedroom with sliding glass that leads to a balcony/patio area Tot lot for the kids to play and a pool/patio to soak up the sun in. Jacuzzi for adults too! HUGE one car garages downstairs in front of complex to rent that are WAY more affordable than private storage fees-also without the hassle of having to DRIVE to storage. Laundry room with 4 washers/dryers.(Gets crowded on the weekends, but you can still get it done if you're patient-or have someone hold a washer/dryer for you!) Always clean (trash dumpsters are never overloaded-except for maybe the day after Christmas, same goes for recycling bin. Individual apartments are always clean too. (NO roaches, other varmints.) TRUST me, I've lived in 3 of the 5 buildings that are there. Moved from a 2 bedroom to a 3 to a 2 again. (Due to living with an extra roommate who flaked on us hence going back to a 2 bedroom Management was helpful with allowing us to switch-we still had to come up with rent/deposit for new apartment, but were allowed to, some other complexes don't allow you to do this). Anyhow, On site managers are awesome, as well as the onsite maintenace. If you have a problem with ANYTHING all you have to do is ask and it'll be resolved promptly(within the day/a few days). Not weeks to months like in some other apartments that I've lived in. Also, THE owner (Dubbs) visits often as well as the offsite Property Manager(Cindy)...also the Super Duper Handy man-Pat-1-1-if there's ever an emergency at any of the complexes owned by Dubbs you don't call 9-1-1. You call PAT-1-1 instead. He (Pat1-1) even took time out of his day to help install a new power supply to my computer when it went out!! Awesome! As far as neighbors go, they're great too. There really is a great mix of people. From eccentric, to not so much, but everybody really does get along well. Not a complex full of drama mamas and papas/feuding neighbors. (On any given day, my husband can hang out with the boys in his mancave (garage) or anywhere really, just as easily as I can go and gab with the ladies.) Also, my husband happens to work nights, and I ALWAYS feel safe when walking in/around my complex. Super well lit, in front of complex and in main apartment/parking area. Day or night Oh...I forgot to mention it's a gated community too! We also don't get much soliciting. The occasional pizza coupon door hanger, but that's about it. Actual rent is the MOST affordable in Lakeside. I've looked/rented a LOT in this area, and this complex saves me $50-100+) vs. other properties. There are some low income housing(based on payscale) in the area near Riverford Rd. but I've had friends who lived their who PROMPTLY left because of danger/violence/drama. So I consider myself lucky to live here in a apartment community that I L.O.V.E. (so much), with having to give up half my paycheck!!! There's also a Vons grocery store/Auto Zone/Lil Cesars Pizza right across the street too. Close to the 8/67 freeways. Seriously, I can't say enough GOOD things about living here...wait!! Yes I can. Occasionally they have complex parties. Chili cook-off (to wrap up the Fall/Winter), also 4th of July BBQ's, and when it's football season there's a party EVERY Sunday! Speaking of parties...if you have children and you want to rent a bouncer jumper thingee, you can!!!! Even though it's an apartment complex there is a HUGE grassy area down in front of the complex perfect for kids & adults to play ball on too. Honestly though, if it weren't for the GREAT management on site, all these other "perks" wouldn't really matter. They are whom keep this complex safe/friendly. They are the reason I love it! *smile* So what are you waiting for...call or come by to check it out!! You'll see what I mean!

I'm severely allergic, so it was a serious concern. I reached out to my landlord, Hope right away--even though it was a holiday weekend--and she responded immediately. At first, she said the soonest help could come was Tuesday, but once she understood how serious my allergy was, Hope had someone out within the hour to trim the bush back as much as possible and make it safe for me. Then they followed up and completed the job on Tuesday. I'm so grateful for how quickly and kindly it was handled. Every time I've needed something, they've been right there. The apartment complex is well taken care of, and a really nice place to live. I definitely recommend it! - Lisa

We ended up pulling out the fridge and stove cleaning behind it. There was so much loose hair everywhere. We had to clean the inside of every cabinet. The garage we had, had so many holes riding in the wall and vulgar language. Parking is horrible. HANDICAP PARKING IS ASSIGNED AND ILLEGAL TO DO BUT THEY DO IT. spots are given and taken cause hope wants to do that. So much dog poop everywhere!! No one picks it up. The pathway smell like pee at times. During the summer the dirt is infested with fleas and your dog will be too. There are residents who cause so much commotion yelling, fight, cussing getting cops called on them. They have cameras up but they seem to be only to make the place look decent. You might get a text saying how they can check the cameras about things like no picking up dog poop. They really don't do anything about that . Dry threats. Fernando will blame all repairs on you. It's your fault it something breaks. Him and Hope don't seem to communicate properly. Location might be good but too many negatives not enough positives.

I wanted to wait until I moved out and got my deposit back to post this, just in case…read more The pictures attached are screenshots from the video I took of how I left the unit. My security deposit was $1495, and I recieved $800 back. $600 was taken from my deposit to dust the bathroom lights and living room blinds, wipe the microwave, and spot paint the insides of cabinets. Partly through my lease here, the entire complex was bought by a new company. Suddenly, my water bill was doubled, trash bill was tripled, they stopped maintaining the already small dog area, and there was no solid notice giving contacts for who to get ahold of in emergencies or with maintenance requests. They took away the online portal so any aspect of convenience was removed. There are 4 washers and dryers for the entire complex to share, I believe over 60 units. Half the time 2 or more of each will be broken. My garbage disposal broke twice within four months, the motor just stopped working and it was confirmed I was not at fault. My stove also bent inwards in the middle like a V, so anything you cook is at a slope. The toilet leaks in the back. Water pressure is ass. My microwave had no light inside and didn't spin lol. The walls are incredibly thin. I work 6am, and would be up until 11pm being forced to listen to children AND adults yelling. Multiple times other occupants would come out to tell people to be quiet because apparently curfew is not enforced by management. The property manager Natalia is fine, she is kind but seems underpaid and overworked. Owner sounds like a complete douche who is just looking to make a quick buck without improving any amenities- in fact, he seems hellbent on making them worse. To compare, when I moved in July of 2023, my studio was $1495, no utilities included. The water/trash/sewer was $36/mo before doubling 2 months after the new management came in. Don't let yourself be scammed. They even maxed out the rent for the lease renewal for a very sweet disabled old woman who lives alone in a studio who we got to know well, because they have no cares for the reliable and faithful tenants. All they want is to make the most money possible off of you. Please do not rent from this place. Every tenant I spoke to was being bent over and screwed by this new management (for example, they said a neighbor didn't pay on time and tried to sneak a late charge that she had to fight against, with proof). Btw, a registered sex offender lives in the complex next door, so at the very least don't move your kids in. All this is to say, Magnolia Terrace cannot wait to get your money in their pockets. If you like being scammed, having restless nights, and appliances not working, I cannot recommend this place enough.

This place is pretty bad. I'm glad to be moved out of here. The first manager when I moved in was…read morea.... well needless to say, they're under new management and they aren't as bad. When I first moved in, there was no gate, but now there is which can be kind of a good thing but also a pain in the ass if you're trying to order a pizza or have a party because you have to go all the way outside just to let each person in. They tell you that you get a "yard" which is the saddest excuse for a yard I've ever seen. You can't fit anything in it, and the only thing it would be useful for is a dog to go outside and poop in, but sadly they don't allow pets. They also don't allow smoking in the apartments or anywhere on the property. If they catch you doing it, they will threaten to kick you out. That's a downfall too because that's just about the only thing you would want to do outside on your 4x4 foot itty bitty patio where you aren't allowed to have a grill. Yes, the yard and the patio are the two most pointless parts about this complex. The parking is pretty much the worst situation imaginable. Most people don't even park in their garages, they just use it as another living room. The garages are ridiculously small. They claim to be 2-car garages, which is fine if you have two mini coopers. I'm not sure how they did the measurements here, but if you are lucky enough to fit your vehicles in the garage, you have to do an 8-point turn just to get it in there since the buildings are so close together. The saddest thing I've seen though is the people who signed their leases and have trucks and you see that they can't even close the garage at night because the front of the truck is sticking out of the garage. I just feel so sorry for them because they didn't know. They didn't know... The best part is that we scratched both my girl's car and my car trying to maneuver our cars into this ridiculous situation. Thousands of dollars of paint jobs are in our future. The inside isn't so bad. You get three bedrooms, and two bathrooms. The kitchen is kinda nice too, but everything else in here is so poorly done. The walls are thin and the paint is so cheap you can just rub something on it and it stains or comes right off. The door stoppers just fall out of the wall... ugh it was a nightmare. For $1400 a month we got what we paid for... The only reason I'm giving this place two stars is because of the liquor store that I could walk to across the street. That made it easy to not have to drive anywhere when I ran out of beer. Oh also, there is a washer/dryer and air conditioning. You might not want to use them though because somehow the meters here RIP YOU OFF and we had consecutive $300/month SDG&E bills. No, I am not exaggerating.

DO NOT MOVE INTO THIS COMPLEX! LOOKS CAN BE DECEIVING, VERY DECEIVING!…read more Looks great right? Gated.. 2 car garages.. 3 bedrooms.. 2 baths.. updated kitchens.. new carpet.. fresh paint on the walls.. sounds nice right? WRONG! We paid 1400/mo. for CRAP! And the deposit was an entire months rent as well. Hmm.. well they did a good job of making sure they got to keep that money! First off.. The area is terrible. Weird people walk around there at night. And unfortunately if you have friends/family come over they have to park on the side of the road which unfortunately again is always full of cars because unfortunately the living rooms and hallways that go up to the living rooms are so narrow that you can't move in average size furniture so unfortunately people use their 2 car garages as the living room which by the way these garages are pretty ridiculously small and the driveway to the garages is so narrow it is even more ridiculous to try to park in there without doing a 10 point turn. Fact: Your 2 car garage just became your living room. Fact: You now park either in 1 of the 3 parking spots in the gated part of the complex (good luck finding one) or park on the street. Fact. Friends/family come over park way the hell down the road and walk in this sketchy part of town to your gate where they wait for you to open because it is locked. And if it is dark they could potentially be in danger and be frightened. Fact: Your friends/family will no longer want to come and visit. Second off.. they remodeled this place with freaking cardboard. The walls are super thin so UNFORTUNATELY I can even hear neighbors alarm clocks and figure out what they are watching on TV. A stalkers dream. The paint ON the walls chips off when the wind blows. It is ridiculous. Anything can mark this paint too. We got a couple black marks from moving our MINI japanese pleather couches up the stairs because that was the only thing that could fit. So I decided to use a rag with water to try to get rid of the damn marks. Well the paint washed right off. Fact: THE WALLS ARE THINNER THAN AN ANOREXIC CHICK! Fact: THE PAINT WASHES OFF WITH WATER! WTF?!? Third off and finally.. THE MANAGEMENT SUCKS MONKEY NUTS! They are rude, annoying, deceiving, conniving and overall screw you over big time assholes. Side note: Things you can not do in your complex: Smoke, not even out in front, not on your patio, not at all. Pets, not a fish, not a snail, nothing, zip, zilch. Wash clothes after 10PM, because the walls are so thin you cannot wash your own goddamn clothes in your own goddamn apartment. Fact: I would never move in here again I would rather be homeless.
