WHAT A TRUE ADVENTURE!! This is no average tour company! Highly recommend! John was our tour guide…read more(other half owner) and words can not explain how amazing this 3 mile hiking, climbing, sliding adventure through a mostly untraveled cave was! Note: we were EXHAUSTED after! John took plenty of breaks and informed us about the cave thoroughly throughout. You can see his love for the cave that he has been showing for 22 years!! This is the most authentic experience you will have! I can't say enough!

She is knowledgeable, passionate about caving and all around fun! She was generous with her time, company and supplies, providing fanny packs full of snacks and bottled water for all and gloves and knee pads to make the experience easier on our bodies. My group of 4 (3 first timers) had a fabulous time exploring Worley's Cave with her. Beginners can feel confident and at ease with how well she obviously knows the cave. Folks with caving experience looking for a little extra challenge will also get lots of opportunities for "side missions" to shimmy and crawl through small spaces, although there is no pressure to participate in those if someone would rather not be in tight spaces. All the stars! I can't wait to book another trip!

Still, there was enough to see to keep me interested. History of the mine and the rail yard, lots of signage, lots of places to sit. I was able to put my nose right against the gate and look down the mine at least a little bit. Cool air blowing back and it definitely gets dark back there. I'd like to return one day and actually do the tour. [Review 13458 overall, 777 of 2020.]

Our tour started at 9:30am but we got there around 9:10 am to check out the gift shop and look around aka take pictures. We lined up near the front of the portal and the guide told us the do's and don'ts of the tour. No flashlights are allowed. They can "trip"the little rail cars we were touring in. The tour ends if the cars get "tripped". Flash photography was allowed. The rail cars were a little rough and bumpy but we didn't mind. The animatronics tell the stories of what it was like being a miner back in the 1900's. They looked so realistic. It was kinda creepy. The tour lasted for about 30 minutes. Cost was $16.95 per person and seniors $14.95 I did enjoy it but I felt again I wasn't feeling that small town hospitality I had expected. My gosh my Great father and Grandfather worked there and my Dad and I were born there. They probably need 2 people working there. One to run the gift shop and one to run the tours. Would have enjoyed a little background info from the tour person. There's no bathroom on site. We went to the lamp house Coffee House afterwards.

Clearly, this place is marketed to resemble Natural Bridge, Virginia's better known (and frankly,…read moremore impressive) attraction. The park here is set up with a number of camping facilities and trails that have a separate entrance, while the attraction itself is accessible by parking at a visitor center and either walking down a fairly steep trail or taking a (seasonal) chairlift. On the dreary day I visited, there was barely a soul in sight, but the park seemed to be setting up for a winter lights festival. The tunnel itself is used for a railroad line, and a viewing platform allows you to go to the edge of the tunnel but you can't actually go through it, which is disappointing. The trail downstream through the gorge is pleasant and worth a brief jaunt but it terminates quickly. Those seeking more of a hike will find the ridge trail that heads upwards worthwhile, and the views of the tunnel from above are probably at least as good as what you'd get walking up close to it. The local Lover's Leap is majestic (and horrifying, if you think about it). I did not think it one of the more impressive state parks in either Virginia or in the the confluence of states in this region, but there are some nice things to see.
