About a 4 mile hike in and out (2 miles in, 2 miles back). Super fun hike, just be careful on the creek crossings, which there are several of. The devils bathtub and swimming holes are beautiful, and great to swim in. read more

Totally worth the hike. Great place to stop, rest and refresh! Water was clean and so cool after a long hike. But go early, it gets crowded after 11-12noon. Parking is limited as well the later in the day. Would definitely go again! read more

The Devil's Bathtub is found off the Devil's Fork Loop Trail in Fort Blackmore. For those who are hardcore hikers, this is one that is not to be missed! There is a hill where you drive up to (the 2631) where there is an area to park your car. Make sure that you only park at the designated area, as there have been people in the past who have parked at private properties/forego the 'No Trespassing' signs further along and have gotten their vehicle towed. It's highly suggested that you go with an experienced hiker/guide or a designated park group, as it is quite a rough/difficult hike (yes, the park offers hike 'tour' groups) - there are tons of stones and streams to cross/wade through (which definitely rise after rainfall) on the trail, so keep that in mind. Also, make sure you keep on the path along the stream; there is an area where the earlier part of the path goes uphill, but that is not the path you want to take! You'll also see rock walls, a swimming hole (which is NOT the Bathtub), and, of course, the main 'destination', the Devil's Bathtub! The color is sooo amazing, as the light hits in a way where the color is this crisp and deep blue-ish/green-ish color. There is a natural smooth slide where you can slide down from. This is the main attraction, so soak it all in! You can also go further up along the trail to see a waterfall at Corder Hollow, but just make sure you plan the day where you leave early enough so you can get back before night falls. It's about 4 miles in and 4 miles out, and I highly suggest in bringing enough water and enough sustenance (and, pick up after yourselves!!!). Please, more than anything, allow yourself an appropriate amount of time to enjoy the beauty of this area and the wonderful hike. I chose this location as a surprise for my date to celebrate her birthday and we couldn't have been happier with our trip. Being in December it was almost a necessity to have perfect weather and we did. The trail is moderately difficult but the 10 crossings of the brook definitely challenge a novice hiker. We had 50 degrees and the sunshine highlighted the scenery beautifully. The serenity cant even begin to be described; maybe its the area, maybe its the time of year, but we didn't hear a bird or see so much as a squirrel until the last 30 minutes of the trip. The good part of going in December was not having to worry about snakes (see other reviews) however the one person we saw during our 5 hours of hiking says the water is cold even in summer so enjoying a dip in December was out of the question. Highly recommend bringing a walking stick to help balance crossing the water and MUST HAVE waterproof boots that go over your ankles, I recommend a minimum of 6" waterproof hikers but 8" or more if you go when there has been rain. read more

What an awesome hike! It was a bit of a hike for us just to get to the hiking trail itself. My advice is everything we did not do: do your research and bring a map of the area just in case you have crappy service like mine so you don't drive in a 3 hour back countryside circle, use the restroom prior so you don't hold it in for 4+ hours, bring lots of sustenance to recoup your energy after 7+ hours of driving right before the hike. When you do finally get there, get there early! Luckily for us we did get there before the afternoon rush. Parking is very limited and this I did research on. After we finished our hike, cars were parked along the road even about a mile away. Just be careful where you park since the signs says they will tow your car. The trail is roughly a 7 mile loop providing attractions to look forward to. Parts of the trail include elevations and involve rocky sections. After our exhausting car ride hike to get here, we first decided to just make our way to the main attraction which is about a 2 mile hike from the parking lot. It is beautiful and all the photos and selfies don't do it justice. We thought what the heck we're already here, what's another 5 miles to complete the loop so we did. We got there around 10am and completed the full loop around 3pm. I recommend going the scenic route to the devil's bathtub that way after you're exhausted, hot and sweaty, you'll have the courage to plunge into the freezing but crystal clear waters. We drove 7+ hours for this hike. We got there early (8am) on a Saturday. It was the perfect time: parking was easily available and there weren't a lot of people on the trail. It had rained the days leading up to our hike, so the streams were a little deeper than usual. The actual bathtub is not very big, but the whole hike is great. Go early. Be prepared to get wet (and muddy). Enjoy! read more

What a gem of a hike! We went out of our way to go for a hike and we were glad we did! We did the full loop (7-8 miles) and the hike travels through some great forest and features a pretty challenging hill at the top. We ended at the bathrub and it was so cool looking and a brisk dip was a great way to end our hike. We had gotten to the trail head at 8am and at that time there were only 4 cars, but by the time we left (1pm), there were about 50 cars parked in the lot and designated parking areas along the forest road leading to the trail head. Definitely arrive early to make parking easier and make sure you think about where you park (in designated areas only because they will tow you and the area is monitored by the forest service). Taking the short way to bathtub is only about 1.5 miles out and an easy hike for families, although there are numerous stream crossings, so plan on study sandals or water shoes. I will say that some people are extremely inconsiderate and the trail had a lot of trash (there are no trash bins in the park), so we took a grocery bag to help clear out the trail and visitors should plan to take their own trash and consider helping keep this area nice for everyone to visit. read more
